I just think it's interesting that these modular buildings are supposed to be "Lego Exclusives" and yet people report they have seen them on toy stores order forms. If they really are on the order forms, is Lego no longer doing them as exclusives, or is it something else the order form is referring to?

I find it hard to believe that Lego would put the exclusive modular buildings which they only sell through S@H and in their own Lego branded stores on an order form for purchase by third-party toy stores, when they have not done this before.

Or, correct me if I'm wrong.

Locutis

A major toy store chain in New Zealand sells the large sets. I bought 3 Grand Emporioums, a Hotel and a Fire Brigade from them.

This year they will have:

10214 Tower Bridge October $NZ 399.99

10216 Winter Village Bakery October $NZ 99.99

10218 Pet Shop August $NZ 299.99

plus other exclusives.

Thanks 'Allan' for the information....usually NZ release also means AU release too, my guess Pet Shop will go to Myer and the bridge to David Jones....the bakery at 99 bucks almost any retailer could have it for Christmas.....man, it's only March and talk of Christmas, I'm getting old !

What kind of pet shop asks for 299, maybe it will have a vet upstairs eh ? or maybe new pet molds but that price I don't know ? :sceptic:

After a talk at a Toyworld store yesterday, the Oz toy fair in two weeks will have all the second half stuff, so maybe this pet shop will appear at it.

I was in the Lego Store in Raleigh NC last night buying the Grand Emporium and the Fire Brigade. The employee there mentioned they had been trained on new stock and that the next IS for 100% certain, a pet shop. She said there were some items that they were told we not public knowledge yet, but said the Pet Shop was ok to tell customers. Looks like a pet shop it is!

Nice! I was at that store a week ago. Picked up a another winter bakery for 30%off and some pab cups. Looks like it's actually going to be a pet shop for the next one.

I suspect MYER will get the Tower Bridge (they got the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal) and David Jones will get the Pet Shop (like they got the Green Grocer and Grand Emporium)

Lego Australia have invited a bunch of Melbourne AFOL's to breakfast and a look at their toy fair stand. I'll report what I see. I'd be surprised if it gets released here when we've just had the New York and European toy fairs though. Since others have said this will be an August 1 release I wouldn't expect to see it in Australia soon. We haven't had the GE (ETA a lot) at retail here yet, and we really only just got the modular fire brigade just before Xmas. I'd probably expect someone will have the new modular for Xmas, but not that it is revealed here.

For those wondering why Australia (and I guess NZ) get modulars and some other exclusives in normal retail stores; we don't have any Lego stores on the continent. Our only other option of buying them would be from S@H and pay our huge retail price plus shipping. I doubt they'd sell many that way, it's far cheaper to buy from BL stores in the US. They seem to sell pretty well when at retail where they sometime get sale prices though.

Clearly the Grand Emporium I bought from David Jones late last year is an illusion then :P

Oh yeah I forgot they had them. I even bought one  I'm hoping next year we'll get a bunch more retailers stocking them like the Fire Brigade this year and maybe a chance to pick one up cheaper.

yeah but i feel if i buy it from there its ultimatly gonna cost the same as buying it from lego themselves. bigger price, and handling would most likely cost the same, thanks anyway, wish i got a green grocer :(

You can still get one!!! for a lot of money though..

The idea of a pet shop is actually really starting to win on me.. :classic:

A dickie bird told me today that the next modular will feature a lot of sand blue... hopefully that's correct as I absolutely love sand blue!

Sand Blue would be a great colour for a modular, and make it a very attractive parts pack.

I'm gonna start wishing for a sand red modular after that :-)

Yeah i have cc getting emporium, i dont want a square village...

Jamie Berard said somewhere that they like to show three of them in promo images (So that it looks like a whole street), and since they aren't shot straight on, at least one of them needs to be a corner building so that they don't show a bland side. They also don't show out of production models.

This means that the next round of promo images will feature Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, and the unannounced one. Since one of those is already a corner building, the next is sure to be a straight building. :classic:

I find it really weird that the composition of the promo images would influence the nature of the building that way...

Makes perfect sense, it's all marketing. They're selling toys, after all. :)

It also means, one in three being a corner building. GE replaced CC in that respect. So, on any new promo image, you'd have one (nearly/just) discontinued building, one building that's a year old, and one brand new building. One of them being a corner building.

I suppose thinking about it, there's nothing to stop the next one being a corner building and still have it fit those requirements. It's just that promo images of the whole street would be hiding the detailed side of one of the corner buildings, so I think it's unlikely...
