The Yellow Brick Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 10197 Fire Brigade: Sep 2009 7208 Fire Station: Dec 2009 7208 was technically released in 2010.
Darth Jar Jar Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Why does everybody go CC,GG,FB and GE when we are all forgetting about MS Also so MS had the hint off GG with the vegetable crates on the side off the street and the guy in he green overalls was a hint to the color off the building like the tan purse to the GE?
GRogall Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Why does everybody go CC,GG,FB and GE when we are all forgetting about MS Also so MS had the hint off GG with the vegetable crates on the side off the street and the guy in he green overalls was a hint to the color off the building like the tan purse to the GE? Because some people including me; never thought MS was part of the series! It is a great set used by Lego for a stop gap measure to show which direction the wanted to go with the series. But the packaging as well as that the Minifigures have expressions instead of the classic smily faces shows that!
Nebi Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 7208 was technically released in 2010. But practical it was released in 2009 and three months after the fire brigade. A fire station is always in the line up of Lego, so the fire brigade never should be released? I don't think, the modular building line is dependent on the city theme, because of so many things (availability, audience, cost...).
TheMagician Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 But the packaging as well as that the Minifigures have expressions instead of the classic smily faces shows that! On the other hand the building instructions (and I believe the box as well) of Green Grocer clearly show Green Grocer in the middle of Cafe Corner and Market Street which shows that Lego DID see it as a coherent series.

Market Street isn't officially part of the modular series is it?
Rapseflaps Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Not officially, no. But it fits in quite nicely with the rest.
Mrlegoninja Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Market Street isn't officially part of the modular series is it? I'm 99% sure it was part of the factory line before it ended.
the-bricking-builder Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I'm 99% sure it was part of the factory line before it ended. it was indeed part of the factory line. Because of that a lot of people, like me,think it was just a set that was no part of the modular line.
Derek Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) If the hints continue in this matter, the next hint will be with one of the Minifigures! But as for these clues, I really think they might be coincidental. If you look at two differnt things hard enough, of course you are going to find similarities. Maybe the connections between the modular sets are little Easter Eggs by the designers, but I don't think that they are "rules"... -Derek Edited January 3, 2011 by I Scream Clone Offensive comment removed
I Scream Clone Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Derek, I have removed your comment as members have taken offense. Please think before posting on a mature adult site. Jokes are fine, but making comments about minority groups are less funny.
Nebi Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Oh, I am gay and for me the joke was funny ^^ It was not an evil joke, so I don't understand, why it has been removed. And the idea was not bad after all Or are the minority group in this case the minifigs?
spectre4188 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 In 10182 Café Corner a Minifigure is sweeping Green Vagetables into the trash can. this has nothing to do with Café Corner. In 10185 Green Grocer, There is a fire-hydrant sitting next to the Lamppost. In 10197 Fire Brigade the Minifigure with the purse also has nothing to do with the set theme, but is carrying a beige purse. in 10211 Grand Emporium the Post box sitting next to the Lamppost is again the object witch has nothing to do with set! I personally think you're spot on with your assumptions. Good work :) Regarding Jamie's latest video on LEGO's site possibly having the next modular -- although it's intriguing, LEGO's been pretty careful about revealing the next modular in videos before. Take a look at the below screenshot from on the Emerald Night: Don't get me wrong -- it's still a possibility (and WAS with Harbor images in one of the videos) -- but I wouldn't put it past LEGO to forget about something so confidential ;)
aZz Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I really hope its a bank,a lot of interesting details could be included like the vault, tellers and atm on the first floor. The usuall robber guy trying to make off with the loot and security trying to catch them.I don't no what I would like on the second floor maybe offices of some description or high end jewelry shop.Top floor maybe an apartment.
Ondra Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 And what about combination of post office and pet shop .Small post office at the ground floor and pet shop at the first floor.
Follows Closely Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Is there an absolute rule that modular buildings have to sit on a 32x32 baseplate? could it span two 16x32 baseplates side by side to make a longer narrower set? I was just thinking that businesses side by side forming more of a street profile might be interesting. Surely the modular aspect is which floor sits where and that all the sets interlock using the same connection pins? I would like to see a 16x32 building. A 16x32 corner shop would also be nice. this would accomplish many things. The price point could come closer to $100 and our City will look more realistic, as all building are not 32x32;)
David Thomsen Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Also the hints usually don't have anything to do with the sets theme! In 10182 Café Corner a Minifigure is sweeping Green Vagetables into the trash can. this has nothing to do with Café Corner. If the hints continue in this matter, the next hint will be with one of the Minifigures! I'm personally not a believer in the Modular Set Hints. I think it's possible to read anything as a hint, especially the girl with the purse. If the fourth had been a police office, then it would have been something for the crooks to steal. If the fourth set had been a school, then she would have been carrying a school bag. If the fourth set had been a bank, then she would be carrying money in her purse to deposit. I doubt anyone looked at the purse and thought 'department store' until after the Emporium was announced. They included a girl with a purse so there wouldn't just be firemen in the set, that is all. When they do a police station, they'll include a civilian with a suitcase for the same reason. Also, the Corner Cafe had a trash can with cherries because it was a Corner Cafe.
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I would love it when it would be a pet shop. To me it would be more interesting and fun then a post office. It makes me think about animals in cages, a fish tank perhaps? A running drum for the rats and hamsters! Whoah! If it is up to Jamie once more i'd really like to know how he would create all this! fingers crossed!
modular guy Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 We also had a fire station in the city theme ;-) But when I think about it, the bank would be a corner building. Some other ideas for the next modular building: I don't know if anyone would be interested in recreating one of our modular buildings, I think it would be quite fun. The one I have in mind is the multi coloured classroom on the thumbnail at the bottom of this page modular school building I would be glad to put a picture of the finished product in our next company newsletter. Cheers all.
LegoFan03 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Hi all, I am new to this forum. I have been big fan of modular buildings and I have all of modular building sets. I am excited to find out what next modular building would look like. I don't mind pet shop or bank or post office. Anything is great for me! :)
peterab Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Brickvention Australia Lego Convention - 16th January 2011 I just was speculating on the commitee mailing list about this. I'd love you to be correct. I'll be acting as guide for Jim Foulds (The LEGO Community Overseer) on the 15 which is the AFOL day of Brickvention. If he's going to reveal anything at Brickvention, that would be the day. The 16th is a public exhibition day so all the presentations happen the day before. Does anybody know if local AFOLs get to build the models when these previews happen? Are they full packaged sets or does the model come pre built like a display? Oh wow, looks like I'll be present at the unveiling! I wonder if the man himself, Jamie Berard, will be there??? Unless TLG are keeping that as a surprise from the committee Jamie isn't coming. I'd love it if he was, I'm a big fan.
Santhor Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 And what about combination of post office and pet shop .Small post office at the ground floor and pet shop at the first floor. That would be nice, but (sort of) like I said before, what if an innocent mail-wanter is allergic to animals (vice-versa of what you said)? Otherwise, my dog is afraid of stairs, so how would they get those pets up? However, if it is possible (I'm thinking side-by-side) that'd be excellent. (By the way, I like to use parentheses ) -Santhor
jth781 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I am also new to the Forum and love the Modular Series it really got me back into LEGO I wouldent mind a bank or a pet shop or anything restaurant
Gregorovich Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 So the two main rumours are a pet shop and a post office? Personally I'd prefer a petshop, as we'd get lots of animals. But I wouldn't a post office either, so I'm happy either way. Also, someone mentioned a restaurant? I would like one of them for the food, so if that is a possibility, then I hope it is a restaurant.
