Jasper Joppe Geers Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I guess it will be one of those two, but what about a barber shop!
jonwil Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 The "Pet Shop" rumor came from (IIRC) someone who worked in a toy store in New Zealand that would be stocking the product later in the year. So I am inclined to believe it over the other rumors like the post office and bank.
Ondra Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Maybe is pet shop just regular city set like 8403, and will be released later in year. But everbyody is talking about pet shop so I don´t know where is the truth .
TheMagician Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I just cannot imagine how the interior of a petshop would look like. Lego animals aren't really that small so in order to get two or three of them in a "cage" you would need quite some space. So there will be many small rooms with the different animals?

So there will be many small rooms with the different animals? you have a point there. looking at the dogs, cats, birds in Lego. hardly much space for more than juz a few of them in a single floor. squeeze more in and the SPCA will come knocking...
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Actually, a birdcage wouldn't be much of a problem, and a rat in a glass cage wouldn't be either. Only addition i can think of now is a fishtank, and that would probably be the interior on the first floor...
PaulF Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Does anybody know if local AFOLs get to build the models when these previews happen? Are they full packaged sets or does the model come pre built like a display? When the Death Star premiered at BrickWorld a few years ago, the BW organizers were the ones that built the Death Star at the hotel.
Follows Closely Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 When the Death Star premiered at BrickWorld a few years ago, the BW organizers were the ones that built the Death Star at the hotel. Nice! With very little reason, I now expect the new modular to be unveiled this weekend. I will be bummed if this is just another weekend.
iKonoKlasT Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 The presentation should be over. Any sign of the new modular?
David Thomsen Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I've been trawling Flickr, there are lots of pictures of the Brickvention event but no sign of any new official modular buildings. The Brickvention website says this: Saturday 15th January 2011 is devoted to Adult Fans of LEGO® and features competitions, games and activities involving LEGO®. Sunday 16th January is the Public Open Day part of Brickvention where anyone can come along and view the amazing creations made out of LEGO®. Maybe they are saving the reveal for the Public Open Day tomorrow?
Ondra Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Still no sign of new special lego set aka modular house? There must be special set for March, if I remember correctly.
lightningtiger Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Let's wait for Grogall.. Yes, in Grogall we trust.....never letting us down ! All this talk of pet store, I though a year ago we were all saying post office because of the clue left behind in the GE....the post box. Well, the BIG toy fair in NY is next month, so maybe then eh ? Keep on waiting everyone !
The Yellow Brick Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Come on LEGO we need to see the modular building , I don't think I've ever been this excited to see a new lego set .
GRogall Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Sadly I'm also waiting like everybody else! I also still hope there will be some more news this weekend since my contact at Lego is on vacation..... If not this weekend then probably Feb 1st. if there is going to be a Modular on March 1st !? :jollyroger:
Ricecracker Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Last year, a number of new sets were spotted at the Canadian International Toy Fair. This year, it's January 30th - February 1st, so we could see it then. LEGO seems to have a fairly large booth. They are 144, on this layout plan.
peterab Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I've been trawling Flickr, there are lots of pictures of the Brickvention event but no sign of any new official modular buildings. The Brickvention website says this: Maybe they are saving the reveal for the Public Open Day tomorrow? No Brickvention reveal, Jim Foulds the LEGO Community Overseer said the timing of Brickvention just before the large European and NY toy fairs made it unlikely for anything to premier at BV.
tedbeard Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Market Street isn't officially part of the modular series is it? Actually Market Street defined the Modular Houses Standard. The micro-site that was part of the LEGO Factory section of LEGO.com (see archive here) used Market Street as the example of how to build to the standard. There has certainly been a lot of confusion on this point (see this discussion from 2009).
L@go Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Actually Market Street defined the Modular Houses Standard. Isn't that a very strange thing to say when Market Street was released after Café Corner? If any set 'defined' the Modular Houses Standard it must surely have been the first one. But we're veering off topic here... anyway, I hope there's news about this year's set soon, as I need to make room in my budget :)
Follows Closely Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 LEGO has done a good job keeping this set from leaking. Wouldn't it be great if it just ended up in stores. I can't remember the last time I saw a cool new set for the first time on the shelf, like the good old days.

I would love to walk into the LEGO Store and see A set like before just like in the olden days.
harmacy Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I would love to walk into the LEGO Store and see A set like before just like in the olden days. That would be awesome! - But the only way to do this would be to avoid the interwebs altogether. Even if Lego themselves did a surprise reveal by simply stocking a new set on the shelves, an eager fan with a cellphone camera would have it all over the web within minutes. In fact, isnt that one of the reasons for this thread, and arguably, this entire site to exist? Back on topic though, Ive also heard strong rumours from local retailers about a Pet shop being the next modular.
Follows Closely Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 We will know more about the set on the 16-17 of January, with a release on the 1st of March! What happened?
eiker86 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) What happened? nothing. maybe next event... i would guess LEGO World in Copenhagen 17th to 20th of february 2011. Something special are going to happend saturday 19th of february 2011 from 10 to closingtime, after my sources. Edited January 18, 2011 by eiker86
