Mr. Gray Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) Hello! After about of a month and a half of having the Rotten Carrot built, I got sick of it and decided it was time for a new ship. And so, I built a much better, albeit smaller, ship. Copying the backstory from my Flickr; "What's this? Captain S. Beldin is sailing on a small, 4 gun cog? What could have happened to the Rotten Carrot? Well, rumor has it that the Rotten Carrot smashed off of some rocks on the voyage away from the attack of Port Premio. Crashing upon a nearby shoreline, Captain S. Beldin got to work right away making a new ship. This new ship, dubbed "The Blind Demise" is named so due to the tragic doom of his former flagship." And so, I present to you my recently built cog, The Blind Demise Enjoy. Edited December 21, 2010 by Mr. Gray Quote

Mr. Gray Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 That looks great for a brick built hull! Thank you very much! Since the posting of this topic a few weeks ago, "The Blind Demise" has undergo a lot of changes actually, I'll post the photos sometime this weekend. Things included: new sail, made the mast taller, included a steering wheel and even added some parts to make it look as if the ship has rigging. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I look forward to seeing the new pictures, hopefully yoy cam take them on a nice white background. The hill is very nicely done and I commend you for making it out of bricks. The size reminds me of jack sparrows first boat he sinks in the beginning of the first movie. Quote

Thank you very much for the comment! The bowsprit was made by attaching a bunch of 1x1 cylinders together with a 4L bar in the middle, then I put that on a jumper plate and attached the jumper plate to a pair of minifigure legs. I attached the minifigure legs one stud back from 2 2x1 pieces, which can be pushed in to make the bowsprit go up or down, depending on what angle I like it. I've changed the construction of the bowsprit itself to a long column with a base, but the way it's attached to the ship is the same. EDIT: And here are some new pictures! More can be seen on my Flickr! The steering wheel of the Blind Demise. "In early 1706, Captain S. Beldin was still in charge of the Blind Demise, however he felt that the ship was in desperate need of many new improvements after a storm devastated the sail and the previous steering system. Among those changes was improved rigging as well as some hull changes." Edited January 27, 2011 by Mr. Gray Quote

Thank you for the comment! Quote
