XimenaPaulina Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 The B1 and Royal Guards are great additions to your SW TT figs Tanotrooper! I like how very detailed your B-1 is, especially the backpack (clever insertion of antenna tips in between the grille piece) and the DC-17 (accurately blocky). The colors of the royal guard are spot-on too and quite nice use of double capes to compensate for the bigger height of the TT fig. Great job as always and can't wait to see what you have in store next! Quote
Tanotrooper Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Im kinda liking these. I think it is a cool idea and some of them look great, especially the B1 droid, but Doc is right, I think they are losing there minifigness (if thats a word). Keep it up though. CF Well I agree, these figures aren't minifigs anymore. While minifigs are short and chubby (cute in a way), I'm trying to represent the characters in the best way as possible. Sort of between action figures and minifigures. (As for my Napoleonic figures, I suppose you could call it articulated scale modelling) And I will keep it up! TT Quote
Prime Brick Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I that Darth Vader battle damaged figure Quote
Tanotrooper Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 I that Darth Vader battle damaged figure Thanks I've placed an order on one of the magnet sets that includes the new Darth Vader torso (hoping they're not glued), so I should have a non battle damaged version up here in a while aswell. But since Vader is one plate higher than the other figures I'm thinking about replacing the regular arms with the black robotic arms (from Minifigures series 3) and black claws in order to accomodate the added length. Will try it out to see if it works. TT Quote
Tanotrooper Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Hello again, I got tired of waiting for a correctly sized double lightsaber handle so I made my own. (pieces: flickr missile and half pin) Then of course I had to make Darth Maul to accompany it. Maul pretty much made Episode one so here he is in his most famous poses. The cloak uses 4 standard capes and he wears the entire outfit underneath it. Once the new head will be released, I'll have to update this although I think the hooded ones will remain the same. The only thing I need now is a metallic siver flickr missile and half pin Link to Flickr entry As always, comments are very appreciated. TT Quote
Matiam92 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I don't like the Maul fig... It just doesn't do it for me I love all of your others Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I don't like the Maul fig... It just doesn't do it for me I love all of your others I think the main problem is the head; TLG should've printed it black on red instead of red on black from day one, but that's not Tanotrooper's fault. Quote
prateek Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Great updates TT. My new favourite is the Royal Guard. The capes look way better like this. The B1 is also very nice, although it's a shame most of those parts aren't available in tan. The Darth Maul looks great too and I can't wait for your update on him. Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Wow these are quite cool! I'm really liking what you've done with the royal guard. Quote
Ceroknight Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Maul looks pretty good Keep the good work! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Nice TT-fied Maul, but wait a minute.. the torso isn't connected to the leg assembly? Quote
Tanotrooper Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Nice TT-fied Maul, but wait a minute.. the torso isn't connected to the leg assembly? It is, but I wanted to show Maul's death in the last picture @Prateek: Thanks, but all parts are available in tan. I'm in the process of getting all of them together to build around 30 of them. @ Brickdoctor and Matiam92: well if the head is the problem, it'll be changed anyway this summer when the new head is released. (and this head wasn't really designed to work without the hood.) Thanks for all the comments, almost thought Maul wouldn't get any love from you guys That being said, I'll post my snowtrooper later this day. TT Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 It is, but I wanted to show Maul's death in the last picture But I can't seem to see any connection point on the torso and the top of the leg assembly (which is a just a horizontally-positioned T-piece). Sorry if I'm pointing this out, I'm just curious to know. Quote

Sorry if I'm pointing this out, I'm just curious to know. TT showed the connection on the first page, I believe. Quote
Tanotrooper Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 But I can't seem to see any connection point on the torso and the top of the leg assembly (which is a just a horizontally-positioned T-piece). Sorry if I'm pointing this out, I'm just curious to know. Well I removed the minifig hand in the last shot to make it look like a clean cut. The minifig hand is used in all the other pictures though. The legs use an opposite design where I put the T piece on backwards in order to be able to fit that plate with clip onto it. The hand is just behind where the plate attaches and the hand 'base' is now in the most forward space of the torso, instead of the back. Hope that helps TT Quote
Flare Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Excellent work! The Saber guard is the most in my opinion, very well made. Quote

Looking forward then for your other TT SW figs. Quote
Blackknight112 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Awsome figs. Is it ok to make my own with your techniques and post them in this post? Quote
Mr.Sandman Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Awesome figs...i like boba and that battle droid. Quote
Tanotrooper Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Awsome figs. Is it ok to make my own with your techniques and post them in this post? Feel free to use the designs (I'm honoured BTW ) but I'd prefer it if you'd post them seperately, if only to avoid confusion. @Mr. Sandman: thanks I'll be posting the completed B1 and OOM series at the end of this month, including instructions. I'm going to take pictures of the snowtrooper now, so they'll be up here within an hour or so. TT Quote
Tanotrooper Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 And here he is: First of all, I'm not happy with the blaster. This'll be replaced by a more accurate E-11 design when I get the parts together. The snowtrooper, perhaps the most menacing looking type of imperial infantry. The Tamina (PoP) keychains were on sale on Shop@Home so it was the perfect opportunity to check if this design would work with the cape. The cape is a bit too long and because of it's stiffness he isn't able to stand up properly but that'll change over time or when he's on a base. Comments are appreciated as always. TT Quote
Stardusty Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Wow, you custom figs are great. Can I use that tehnicue (not for MOC's, just for playing with really poseable figs)? Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 He looks great! Simple design but very effective. My #2 favorite figure. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Looks good! Not sure about the epaulets, though, they don't really match the smooth feel of Snowtrooper garb. Can't think of an alternative, though... Quote
prateek Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Looks good. The helmet is very suitable for this size. I agree with BD though, the epaulets don't really belong IMO. Quote
