During the last weeks I haven't much time and no muse to make the sails.. so instead I needed to brick a bit (as diversion from my degree paper - which is finished by the way - now I can make sails :pir-cry_happy: ).

But, I wanted to share the result of the buildingprocess... It's the H.M.S. ....... (The Nameless) a.k.a. HMS Spareparts ... I guess she'll get a greek name to, Still not sure which it'll be and what kind of figurhead she's gonna get.

At the moment I'm out of black plates (never thought that would happen), so I'll need to figure out what to use for the crownests... (even with snotplattforms, I'll need some plates), classic grey could be an alternative... or I'll buy some on bricklink.

So here are some shots:

A FLEETSHOT:

Broadside:

She looks like brocken up, like a BULK at the moment..., a shot from above...

She'll get red deck details. Some parts are still needed (a red round tile for the catspan, red headlights as well)

The Stern... kind of odd yet.

What would you do... yellow flowers as well... or change the windows and yellow details to red, too? suggestion are welcome!

Your fleet is becoming very impressive :pir-oh3:

I believe this ship looks quite a lot like Ares, so there's not much wrong with it.

I like all the red details on the deck, but the hatch shutter is perhaps a bit too much red. Maybe it looks better with some (red) headlight bricks there.

The stern is also beautiful. You could only make the 1x1 round plates line (and maybe the windows) a bit curved like I did with Vesta's windows.

I'm not sure about the red flowers over there, but I don't know what else to use. Perhaps just yellow.

My final small tip is to make the red line on the sides a bit curved so it suits the curved yellow line better.

Good luck!

I did a complete colorchange today.

The Bow - a lot to do there. Just added black hoses, to create the headrails... and a lonely sailor plays figurehead

So, and finally the first Ship I worked on, with some more and detailed pictures. The Sails are a bit better than Athenas yet, but they can also be improved.

The sails. Without the names on it, it would have been a puzzle :pir_laugh2:

Very nice furniture in the cabin! Dont remember seeing it before. The sail plan looks very good too, much better than on Athena. I think you could make the main and mizzen staysails drop down a little lower, on most frigates Ive seen the lower portion of the staysail is more rectangular where the upper is triangular like this:

Whats your plan for the sails? Are you going to use cotton as per Admiral Croissant's tutorial or thicker paper? You might have already stated earlier in this thread so forgive me if you have. Great work

Thanks for the tip! I gonna make cotton sails, but until I have the right sizes and shapes you'll probally some more paper-versions first. I don't want to redo the masts of the Ares (since I invested quite a bit of money into the shrouds -knotting is definitly cheaper than glue :pir_bawling: ) But I guess I can improve a lot by changing the yards or maybe change the technic how the yards are fixed to the masts...

Looks excellent, the modularity is also awesome

There's still one thing that can be improved though. With respect, your sails are a bit too much clipper style right now.

I think your top & royal sails/yards are too large compared to the other sails. This is mainly because the yards are too long IMO.

Your royal yards seem to be almost as long as the main yards, whilst they should be about half the length of the main yards.

You coul also perhaps attach the spanker sail closer to the mizzen mast. There's quite a lot of space between those two.

Good luck! It's an epic ship already :pir-classic:

(As for DPW's comment, some ships, like Trincomalee, do have triangular sails there so I don't think that's a big problem.)

Thanks for the tipps, I try to improve that before cutting my cotton sheet into wrong sails :pir_laugh2:
