January 22, 201114 yr Author I love it. Your town brings back fond memories of the three months I spent in Australia. Thank you for your kind words 'Tyleraf', I hope your trip down under was an AWESOME one ! Anyway, more will be uploaded ina few days......I currently have an internet problem which is screwing up my postings and searches......aw, well that's life ! Brick On Everyone !
January 22, 201114 yr Author Goodness, I feel such a tool.....I forgot to plan for one more building in my final layout...a CFS station.....so I'll be designing that this week along with a new style of fire truck I haven't done yet.....so keep on watching !
March 1, 201113 yr Author Today I started measuring up the layout for a train show in April. Comments welcome still ! Need more straight road plates though......ah, well I still have a few weeks !
March 1, 201113 yr Author It looks great lightningtiger, but without villagers it looks a bit empty Thanks for the comment 'Tabris', I still have quite a few custom figures to do yet plus rework out where some of the other buildings are going to !
March 1, 201113 yr Superb MOC. I've never been to Australia (only seen it in films and travel documentaries, etc), but this to me conjours up what I'd expect a small 'one horse' Australian town to be like- a long straight street with low-built buildings. I particularly like the way you've stickered the shops, and the pickup. I can imagine the heat and the dust. I'd love to see a pub, as others have said! And possibly one of those impossibly long Australian road-trains. Look forward to seeing the completed layout.
March 1, 201113 yr Hi LT awesome town you've got going there, how have you done your signs, I can't tell if it's sticker or paper? I really like that train crossing good job Can't wait to see it full of minifigs and vehicles
March 1, 201113 yr Author Thanks 'dr_spock', 'Cpt. Mugwash', 'Legoless' and '-zenn' for all your kind comments. I don't remember travelling through any small towns with tumble weeds, but small towns are well small....with a small population ! Now those signs are photo sticker paper from Officeworks......I'll be working on the town again today. Oh, and as the saying goes you ain't seen nothing yet ! Keep on watching !
March 1, 201113 yr I think it is very good. It really looks like a real street with those small shops and details on it. Good work

March 2, 201113 yr Looking good, LT. Will you be incorporating this into a larger group layout for the train show? :classic:

Oh, and thanks for the comment 'Silverface'....almost forgot to say thank you ! Thanks for the info, now I know what to go and give to the officeworks guy next time I am in there so that they actually have a clue what I am talking about and can sell me some proper sticker paper and not just "mailing labels" (which are totally useless for LEGO stickering)
March 2, 201113 yr Author Thanks for the comments everyone......the plan is to have a track going around the town and hopefully my silo will be up and running too ! Now the stickers....you all know my secret !
March 3, 201113 yr Wonderful district! The thing I like the most in your work LT is that you make simple what it isn't! Super!
March 3, 201113 yr Author Thank you 'LEGO Train 12 Volts' for your kind words. Right at this minute I'm working on the train track layout to go around the town for a train show in April, it appears I will be the only AFOL with a Lego layout there so I can't let them down. Oh, my fellow train-techs any suggestions for kind of track layout, I would be be very grateful !
March 4, 201113 yr Oh, my fellow train-techs any suggestions for kind of track layout, I would be be very grateful ! When my train club designs a layout, we try and include two loops, at least one passing siding for each loop to set up a replacement train, and as many extra sidings as we can for static train Mocs. We aim to have two trains running at all times. We normally have three people on the layout at a time for crowd/crash control. The more space and operators, the more loops etc. If you want a more 'traditional' layout look, a back wall to hide your passing loops works really effectively. That would probably work well with your street with the silos and a yard area out in front.
March 4, 201113 yr Author Thanks 'peter' for your advice, I'm trying things out right now and heck, I need more straight track pieces ! As you can see how big it is as compared to the town centre itself....the EN at least looks nice going over the train crossing eh ? Since my town is a river one, easiest thing to do is the curved pieces of track in front of the main street....part of that will be over a fake river. The switching point leads to a siding where loading and unloading wagons. Comments welcome and any other suggestions are very welcome (this will be my first train show).
March 4, 201113 yr Thanks 'peter' for your advice, I'm trying things out right now and heck, I need more straight track pieces ! I hate that LEGO strat to package intersections with straights. I hate it even more that it works While I'm on the subject I do like that long "main street" setup, it seems more 'real.' You should put a bit of greenery on the side of the road or beside the planned river.
March 4, 201113 yr Author Thanks 'wooootles' and 'prateek' for your comments, more greenery is comming.....the town as you see - that is the buildings are for the show with expansion again with more time. Next more train track, the silo and landscaping plus river/creek. Keep on watching !
