lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 Haven't checked your thread for a while...this town project is certainly getting better and better and bigger! Just curious tho, how do you find the time to construct all these? Meanwhile I'll just sit tight and watch I haven't thought about any suggestions, I'm a little overwhelmed here, I need some time to think. Thanks for the reply there 'Out of Sight', I'm picking up parts to fill the gap between the hardware and tyre stores....more likely tomorrow....have a repair job tonight - oh, well need the money to buy the parts and the Harbour set (I love the Marina set ). Get's yours-truly thinking about putting in a river dock and even a lock too. Keep those comments and any ideas comming.....keep on a watchin' ! Quote
icy brick Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Here is one way I can have the entrance to the town centre (then I found a spare straight piece didn't I ). So is this good or bad entrance or should I just use that straight road plate and re-position the T-junction ? Comments are needed thanks (you can guess where the tractor dealer will be going can you too? ). Keep on watching ! Nice..... !!! maybe the road near Mitre hardwear could go to highway too ? Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 Nice..... !!! maybe the road near Mitre hardwear could go to highway too ? Actually from top to bottom is just going to be those three road plates deep, but expanding to the right of the screen......and man, it's going to be very, very wide ! The reason is two fold for three road plate deep, one is train show displays - there is a limit to my depth of display and two is access for children to role play in the various buildings.....hence why there isn't any roofs on the buildings. Keep on watching and waiting......more today and that's a promise ! Quote
Gregorovich Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Looks good, I like the layout. Are you going to be adding your shopping centre to the town? Good luck, and well done! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 Looks good, I like the layout. Are you going to be adding your shopping centre to the town? Good luck, and well done! Thank you 'Gregorovich' and yes, what you see is the west side of the whole creation, just passed the police station will be a train line running through, passed that to the east will be the Ford Dealership, shopping centre, train station/freight handling depot and truck stop...maybe a motel too. I'm going to be busy, but the east side will get completed first, and then I'll work towards the east. Keep on watching.....more later today ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Now some photos from a different angle..... More to come still.....so keep on commenting and keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 More to come still. Brick On everyone ! Quote
LegoCityMann Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 More to come still. Brick On everyone ! Nice park. Needs a picnic table and a grill though. ;) ~LCM Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Nice park. Needs a picnic table and a grill though. ;) ~LCM No park, just a bit of greenery I have just added more grass stems, a picnic area might go elsewhere. But right now I have started the John Deere Dealership, hopefully within a week there will be a start on the hotel. Thanks for comment 'LCM' and keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 A little bit more work done on this greenery area. Keep on watching ! Quote
Artifex Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 It's looking great, LT! Sometimes it's hard to think it's NOT a real town and I have to look twice... About the park: You planning on having more trees there? I suggest at least a couple of those classic trees, maybe 2-small ones and 1-medium sized, what do you say? It's not a forest, I know... I'm taking about these trees in the link. Precisely those - small ones and medium sized. Keep bricking on! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Thanks for the comments, etc., 'Artifex'....I decided on a brick built tree because the other normal Lego trees don't look very Australian or even realistic for that matter. Once the John Deere dealer is complete, I can then finally get a start on the pub ! Brick On everyone ! Quote
icy brick Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 (edited) Nice! But no houses? (at all) Edited July 1, 2011 by icy brick Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Nice! But no houses? (at all) Thanks 'icy brick', actually I have not put much thought into housing.....once all the businesses are finished I might build some housing. Not much might be happening over the weekend, maybe tonight but come Monday, full steam ahead. Quote

lightningtiger Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 Oh, ok. you ARE going for realism, I see. Yep, real.....well real looking to the best Lego can be. Oh, footnote.....I might have twisted wife around into going to BrickExpo, Captain Zuloo has asked me to come and show off New Mannum, so now`I must find prices on flights and hotel rooms for two....oh, boy the wife ! Keep on watching for more updates everyone ! Quote
Fires-storm Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Wow, I haven't checked on this in a bit, but I can tell it is really coming along quite beautifully! Though, in all truth, I doubt it will ever finally once and for all be finished, you will just keep working on it and making it more and more insanely epic, hah! Nice work on this mate, I can't wait to see more! Quote

Nice work on this mate, I can't wait to see more! Thanks 'Fires-Storm', nice to hear from you again and you maybe right, this town may never ever end...good it gives me reason to keep on building right ? If I go to Canberra in August for Brick Expo, flights are going to cost 300 bucks each and hotel rooms 200 bucks per night...ouch over 1000 bucks for a Lego show ! Talk it over with the wife, unless I have a good month in my business, then there be no way to make it. But I always try and side on the side of hope. Quote

Yeah, I know fully what you mean, I think I took around 1,500 bucks with me to Brickworld in Chicago, and I spent all but 10 dollars, with just me there But hey, you'll get there, and if not, then spend some quality time with your wife instead! True, there is two museum's in Canberra I want to go to, so an extra day is required. I'm going to have a talk to the wife later on today about this trip. Anyway, tomorrow I'll be working on the John Deere dealership with a utility tractor in the front yard with some machinery. So keep on watching and waiting everyone ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 Well, Good Luck Well, thanks 'icy brick' anyway....but Canberra might be out of the question now....too many bills and not enough cash. And Rail Show only pocketed me a 100 bucks for showing and it's going to cost a 1000 bucks to go and stay in Canberra. Anyway, I have done a little bit of work on the John Deere dealership building tonight....need some more parts to finish it. Keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 Input time again everyone, should I build an art deco or a turn-of-the-century style hotel (pub) ? The construction of which will take place after the JD dealership is finished. Brick On, Watch On, Comment On ! Quote
Rudders Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I say turn-of-the-century style hotel if it's a pub, if it was more of a bar then maybe art deco Quote
