Oh, dear....thanks everyone....still not clear what to make, you see I have been though many towns in my life and it's a mix of 1900's and 1930's hotels....does it help to say it's only going to be a single level hotel with of course the front pub in front, but a seperate front entrance meant for a ladies lounge/dinning room or the modern day pokie/gaming lounge.

My gut feeling is art deco, but still if anyone else thinks otherwise please comment.:classic:

If you're going for a single story pub I think Art Deco would probably allow a more decorated style.

If it were me I'd be looking to build a gold rush era Victorian (after the Queen not the place) Italianate pub, but thats probably not appropriate for South Australia. I seem to remember some Georgian style sandstone pubs from my travels in South Oz, and since they're pretty simple they might translate well to brick. You could also look to do a weather board building using the technique in the latest railbricks journal.

Just a quick written update, I have designed an art deco frontage to the hotel (LDD), but I have a problem....colour.....single tone or multi-coloured (2 or more colours/tones in use. I still might try a Edwardian style design too - once I find something to base it on and see how it looks in LDD.

Keep watching today, because I should be reshooting the the town centre. :classic:

Still looking good, LT! I love the way the JD dealer looks when put into the town, and the yellow tractor attachment is a pretty nice design. Could you post close-ups of it? Anyways, your town is looking great; how much do you plan on expanding it?

Thanks 'Captain T', hopefully these photos still impress.

And impress they do! I love the tractor attachment, and now I can clearly see that you've improved the JD dealership's architecture a bit with the rounded sign. Do you plan on making more attachments (leaf blowers, etc.)?

Nice work, your town continues to impress.

Thanks 'jonwil', oh I'm also planning an old small train station/platform to go along side the police station. :classic:

Another question hopefully score some answers on is how close to the road can I build this train station or should it go on the other side of the tracks ?

Our Zoo has an "Outback Exhibit" which features a train station with a train that runs thru the area. The station was based on a real station in Australia and was rebuilt at a smaller size. Would love to see something like it in your town if you feel it fits.

(Not sure how big this pic is. If this image shows up too large I will resize it manually and edit the post.)

Thanks 'LCM' for the photo, but from where is that design of station taken from ?

It does appear timber sided, possibly from mountainous areas of the eastern states....say the Blue Mountains area west of Sydney.....but maybe 'AJ' or 'Peterab' might also have an opinion.

I'm currently working on a small station so hopefully within an hour I might have a W-I-P shot up.

Keep on watching !

Supposedly somewhere in the Outback. I'd have to go to the Zoo and read the plaque again to be sure.

Some similar features to stations up in the Blue Mountains. Looks like it takes architectural designs from a number of sources, bit of a lifesize MOC really but it looks good.

Enjoying the progress on the town and the JD dealership.
