lightningtiger Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 Ah, 'Artifex' SA country towns don't have bus services in them unless it's for schools and it's a larger settlement....like a population of over 10,000. Maybe a Grayhound stop at the roadhouse ? Keep on suggesting keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Fresh shots including my latest building - a cut above the rest yeah, the butcher's shop ! Still more to come, dam more pavement to do ! A usual comments welcome and keep on watching ! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) Nice update, LT. It there a picnic area somewhere for me to BBQ some steaks and a few mystery bags? :classic: Edited September 1, 2011 by AussieJimbo Quote
Artanis I Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I haven't looked at this town in some time. Wow, you've made some real improvements! Congratulations to the local council/shire (whatever it's called in SA) for the building progress of this tidy town! It's really looking like many outside-of-the-metropolis Aussie settlements I've encountered! The studlessness and tiled snot walls make it look great, and some techniques I didn't notice in the town before. How could you pass up a Shell service station btw? After all, the printed Lego parts are already available! It wouldn't be a real town without the opposition across the road though... Caltex? BP? Mobil? Ampol? (Does that still exist?..) Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Thanks 'AJ' and 'Artanis I' for your kind words, oh....the Shell stickers are my own handy work bar one a copy from the 1986 Shell servo. I just love the studless and SNOT work in my town, though the studs are for either carpet inside or dirt/grave/grass outside. Keep those comments coming and keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 I have a 16-stud wide space left next to the police station, what could go there....another business or perhaps a house front ? A hotel might look a bit odd though next to the cop shop, so what building could go there ? Quote
jonwil Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 How about a place that sells hats, belts, leather goods and related things (I know a few country towns that have such shops) Even saddles and horse gear maybe. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 How about a place that sells hats, belts, leather goods and related things (I know a few country towns that have such shops) Even saddles and horse gear maybe. Ah, I didn't of that - a saddler, a Horseland store.....I'll look into that.....thanks 'jonwil' ! Quote
Hewman Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 I have a 16-stud wide space left next to the police station, what could go there....another business or perhaps a house front ? A hotel might look a bit odd though next to the cop shop, so what building could go there ? How about a small dilapidated house belonging to a crazy old cat lady. Every town needs at least one odd-ball resident. Are you stocking up minifigs in overalls and high visibility gear to put in your town? Quote

Are you stocking up minifigs in overalls and high visibility gear to put in your town? Ah, yes a weatherboard house with a picket fence, but how do I make the house smell of musk and worse ? Keep suggestions coming, as I'm doing rebuild day today NO updates today - Rail Show reconstruction - yeah, I'm going getting around now to it ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 Only two suggestions ? Come everyone, throw your ideas into the ring ? So far a saddler and an old house......any thing else....work starts on whatever is the best suggestion on Monday ! Suggest On ! Quote
dr_spock Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 How about a donut and coffee shop next to the police station space? Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 How about a donut and coffee shop next to the police station space? I was thinking about a bakery with a coffee machine - thanks 'dr_spock' for your suggestion ! Keep those suggestions coming - that's three.....any more ? Quote

A nerdy computer shop could also make the short list, but if there is enough good ideas....well, the town might even grow again...ouch, my wallet ! Keep those suggestions coming, I'll decided on Monday what this particular building with be ! Quote
HighFlyer Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Perhaps a fish and chip shop? I was also thinking of a small furniture store... or maybe that would be better on a 32 wide space... A book shop? Quote
jonwil Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Some sort of takeaway joint would be perfect. The kind that sells Fish & Chips, Burgers, Pies and other unhealthy fried product. Quote
The Undo Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 I don't know what to suggest, but I just wanted to express my admiration for your town center. Very, very cool stuff you got there! Quote
dragunov Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 (edited) Only two suggestions ? Come everyone, throw your ideas into the ring ? So far a saddler and an old house......any thing else....work starts on whatever is the best suggestion on Monday ! Suggest On ! A cafe/diner/fast food place? What about some where for tourists to stay, such as a hotel, or motel? Gunstore? Bakery? Butcher Edited September 3, 2011 by dragunov Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Why thank you everyone....lots of food for thought so to speak.....take-away food outlet has crossed my mind...but I would need Belville pink, no seriously Pinky's Pizza are a country pizza chain and hence are pink buildings. A furniture store - I have designed one in LDD a year ago.....that could be a future build. Plus a motel might still be still on the long term cards.....ouch, I think my town is still going to grow to the east and even more north. Gun stores in country are not as common, usually a few hardware stores or some rural suppliers sell guns and ammo. Please keep any suggestions coming - which ever is the most popular is the one going to get built tomorrow (of course parts pending ). Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 I should include some shots of what might be the next building....comment and suggest ! Sorry, biggest picture I could find for a Pinky's Pizza. Another, sorry.....dam it why can I not find any larger pictures....this one is a bakery. It's really hard trying to find any furniture store pictures....all that keeps coming up is furniture itself. Keep on suggesting ! Quote
rriggs Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 I only have a 16 wide space They can all be done 16-wide... Lego shop - Easy 16 wide Computer shop - Easy 16 wide Indian restaurant - Easy 16 wide Art shop/small gallery Easy 16 wide Sporting goods shop - Easy 16 wide and can include some rifles... As for the others: Bus station - 16 Wide Booking office with a bus stop outside Fast food outlet - Easy 16 wide with the drive through round the back Civic buildings - Civic office for paying rent, etc like you said Car park - Car elevator or ramp 16 wide onto parking on the roof Cheers Rog Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 4, 2011 Author Posted September 4, 2011 Thanks 'rriggs' for your suggestions again, true what you say but remember it must be something you would expect in a South Australian country town - though there are computer shops and civic buildings....looks like I'm tossing a coin on this one ? Come on everyone...please a few more suggestions.....heck, if there are enough like I said the other day, they all might get build in the long run. Keep on....you know the rest by now ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 4, 2011 Author Posted September 4, 2011 Light bulb moment above my head and no one has suggested it.....so it will be a surprise....although one person did come close though....guess what I'm thinking.....close to home is the clue ? Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Quickly I just throw a street scape together with the new building...... Comments welcome as always......oh, what the heck.....more buildings to come ! Quote
