jonwil Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Nice job on your town, it looks great. Do you happen to have the exact details for the sticker paper you are using (i.e. brand name, what store you bought it from etc)? I looked in Officeworks a while back and they didnt have any glossy sticker paper (just some matte stickers for mailing labels) Quote

I looked in Officeworks a while back and they didnt have any glossy sticker paper (just some matte stickers for mailing labels) Thanks 'jonwil' , now that paper comes in a 20 pack in either blue Officework brand packaging or orange Ausinc brand packaging, approx. 14 bucks a packet. Keep on stickering ! Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I'd really love to like there , You've created some beautifull buildings (I can't pick a favorite ) Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 I'd really love to like there , You've created some beautifull buildings (I can't pick a favorite ) Thanks 'The Red Brick' for your kind words again , even I have trouble finding a favorite too ! Now I will be also making some changes to the Landmark store so it sits nicely covered up from the garage's side pavement. Brick On Everyone ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Its really turned out nicely. Everything fits together and has a nice combination of techniques. Quote
sebby Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Really liking the crossing sign and lights, I do agree with the comment from the train forum about some flashing LEDs. I think that would be great. (been looking for some LED's myself for when I can get back to building.) Just one question are you also building some sort of barriers to stop cars crossing the tracks when the train comes??? As for the size of your silos IMHO I think that 60+ bricks high would look a little bit weird compared to the size of your buildings in New Mannum. 6x higher than your post office. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Thanks 'sebby' for your comments and suggestions, now most small country towns in Australia don't have boom gates......in fact some are lucky to have lights, many have a stop sign only either side of track. Silo height is a worry, as you might see from this image of one in my home state...... Anyway, I'm still working on things and keep those comments/suggestions comming - they all help ! Brick On Everyone ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Train crossing is finished, next.....oh, boy.....the silos - what have I done ! Wish me luck ! Comments, etc., welcome as usual and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 I have a question to ask everyone, it's to do with the pub.....should it be a pub or club like an RSL or similar ? Tomorrow I start designing also the silos -oh, boy ! Keep on watching ! Quote
SilentMode Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I would go for a pub, it would blend better with the other buildings. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Thanks, pub it is....starting work on it say around Friday ! Keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Another question, since I'll have a 16 wide space along side the police station free, should I relocate the war monument next to said cop shop ? Plus any other suggestions or ideas - feel free to say ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Okay, fresh picture time...... Yep, it's the start to the railway silo (has it's own posting in trains, but here it's part of the town centre pages too ! ).....you can see how tall the silo(s) will be and 12 studs in diameter too ! Comments welcome and keep on watching everyone ! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 (edited) Nice start on the silos to give us an idea of scale. I hope the budget stretches to a double. Just looking back at your reference pic it's interesting to note the nice green ground cover between the tracks on the grain handling sidings, clearly from grain spillage. I'd never noticed this before, perhaps the pic was shot in a similar year to this one where we are (unfortunately) getting quite a bit of rain around harvest time. Might be worth noting for future modelling. :classic: Edited January 10, 2011 by AussieJimbo Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks 'AussieJimbo' for your comments, well the elevator isn't finished yet...almost though and once I have one silo built - then I'lll know the ocsts involed for the second one ! Keep on watching......more to come soon ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 I really like that truck. Well, thank you 'jth781' I like my ute as well, wished I owned a real one though ! Now I'm planning on placing the police station on a 16x32 baseplate so I can position the war momument with some greenery around it.....now where is that spare green base plate of mine ? Keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) Well, I decided to layout what I had built...... Yes, I know the blue post is out of alignment, it will be fixed when I display it at a train show. More work is still be done as you can see.....comments welcome as usual and Brick On Everyone ! AussieJimbo Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 It's worked out really nicely, LT. Give yourself a pat on the back for doing such a fine job. How are you going with the silo? :classic: Quote

Mr. Elijah Timms Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 "THE FINAL LAYOUT?" Ahh, c'mon Tiger, who are you kidding! Just joking of course-- love the look, all the studless (I prefer that over SNOT) work is soooo slick and polished and pristine. Absolutely impeccable, really. I also like how not everything has to be seven stories high-- I've resigned myself to spare 'the negotiations' with my wife and swear off the modular sets, but I've always felt a certain inferiority with regards to my layout because it'll never have a Fire Brigade or a Grand Emporium. Your street makes me optimistic to know that a quality display doesn't ALWAYS have to be comprised of enormous structures. Keep up the good work, my friend! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Thanks 'Mr. Elijah Timms' for your kind words:sweet: , well it's the final positions of those buildings minus the pub and silos....although you can guess where the silos are going....clue - railway crossing ! I still thinking should the pub be mostly white brick with brown or beige/brown or even beige/white - if I go the first idea white/brown it might look like the pub I base it on in Wentworth NSW, if memory serves me correct 'The Royal Hotel' is it's name. Brick On Everyone ! Quote
