merman Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 How do you know? I have my sources. Now the setnames are in the open I am allowed to spill this info. I have NOT seen pictures. Quote
DLuders Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) Read about the 2H2011 Lego Technic sets on TechnicBRICKS and on Brickset. It would be nice if the Lego Technic Unimog U-400 was built with ORANGE parts, and had HUGE tires like the 32298 Technic Power Puller ones. Edited December 24, 2010 by DLuders Quote
rien Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I cant wait to get my hands on that even not seen. Quote
LegOscar Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I can tell you 8110 is bigger and more expensive than 8043 Could it be the rumored "giant technic exclusive"? Because if it's more expensive than the 8043 the MRSP will go in the direction of €200... Quote
Anio Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 You do not need €200 at all to design a powerful TT... 1,000 parts, 1 XL, 1 M, 1 BB, 1 IR receiver, 1 controller and that's ok ! So, a €120 set is enough, IMO. Quote
DLuders Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) There could be a lot of functionality built into the upcoming Lego Technic 8110 Unimog U-400. According to Unimogs.org, "Why UNIMOG? There is no other vehicle produced in it’s class that can climb an 80% grade or hold a 30 degree side slope pull 180,000 lbs in low gear at 1/8 mile per hour and then go down the freeway at 70 mph. Go where a Hummer can’t go, to mow your fields, drill fence posts, plow snow, plow fields, become a back hoe, grade your road run a huge SEE Sno-Go snow blower, turn into a street sweeper, haul a load of gravel, attach train wheels, install a crane and run overhead cable, or run through 4 feet of water and mud without getting stuck! The list is as long as your imagination!" Since the most Lego TECHNIC sets are sold in Germany, and Unimog is German, I bet you TLG sells a LOT of the 8110 sets. grepin Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I suppose the Unimog will have some attachment and/or trailer and include PF, or else I can't see how it could be more expensive than the 8043. For it to be so expensive, it's clearly aimed at adults, and that can only be good news! Quote
LegoDejc Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I think that with Unimog we have very big chance to get pf controled pneumatics. This makes sense about price being bigger than for usual flagship. Wishes... Quote
yoraish Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 WOW!!! I just can't wait!! Maybe PF controlled Unimog? Quote
Plastic Nurak Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) I want the Unimog NOW! Surely, it will be ther best set released in the whole next year. Edited December 24, 2010 by Plastic Nurak Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I love the idea of a Unimog set, but if it costs more than 8043, I'll have to think twice about it. I would love to see pneumatics again. Looking forward to some pictures! Quote
davidmull Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Yes now this is rite up my alley nice big models, price doesnt bother me at all to be honest once there good, when will we get to see official pics do ye think? Quote
Blakbird Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 8071-Bucket truck 8081-Extreme cruiser 8109-Flatbed truck 8110-Unimog U-400 "Bucket truck" sound to me like the old 8848 Power Truck, which would be a great model. "Extreme Cruiser" is kind of vague, but it seems to me that it will be a Harley Davidson style motorcycle. LEGO has only done this kind of "cruiser" as an alternate model before. "Flatbed Truck" could vary greatly depending on how big it is. If it is the same size as the 8292 Cherry Picker and 8052 Container Truck, I think that would be perfect. The alternate model of 8264 Hauler is also such a flatbed, but bigger. "Unimog" is very exciting, especially as a flagship. From the perspective of the name, this would seem to be a licensed product from Mercedes-Benz. If it is as large as I am thinking, it could be a glorious model. Personally, I hope it does NOT have Power Functions. I much rather have that cost go into more parts, complexity, and function and make this thing truly epic. Comparing to the 8466 Off-Roader, it could effectively be a Supercar but with 4WD and PTO functions. I'd like to see 4WD (3 diffs), a gearbox, a front implement such as a plow or post hole digger, 4 wheel suspension, and a detailed body and interior. I think the Power Puller tires are too wide, so I'm guessing the narrower tires (94.8 x 44 balloon) will be used instead. Another thing I would really like to see return is expansion packs, and the Uninmog would be perfect for it. If you could buy separate implements like a plow, an backhoe attachment, a loader bucket, a post hole digger, etc., I'd get all of them. Or they could do a single expansion pack which can be built into several different implements (but not at the same time). 8466 had an expansion pack (for a crane thing), and some of the old tractors had lots of different implements you could build. trekman Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Recently I made a MOC Unimog vehicle. It had 4WD, 4 speed gearbox driven from 2 XL motors. I did have a few problems with the drivetrain so I removed the motors, making it easier for my seven year old son to play with it. It also has buggy motors for front and rear pto, a tipping body as well as front and rear linkage. HOG steering and a rotating beacon, using a micro motor. We were able to make a front road sweeper for the Unimog and a rear stoner conveyer - to be used with the tipping body. We have had great fun with our Unimog and there is so much room for expansion. i do hope that LEGO do a good job of theirs next year. Personally I am not always that keen on remote driving vehicles. Instead there is more to be gained in having realistic working features on a model, such as we have experienced. Quote
Milan Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Unimog rules! I would also like that this set has no PF, even if I LOVE PF, but to have more parts, preferably quite few new ones! Quote

I also hope Lego makes a new tire that has the same diameter as the PP tires, but narrower. Cant understand why people dont want power functions and dont like remote control, everyone agrees that 8043 is the ultimate working and realistic machine because it has so many functions and gears! I guess it depends on why you buy Lego. Some people buy a set, build it, and display it on the shelf. For these people, I can understand why they want PF sets. PF functions add a lot to the playability. Some people (like myself), prefer to buy sets for their parts. We may build the set once, and after a little while, the sets get disassembled and the parts go into mocs. The last 4 sets I have purchased (8265 Front Loader, 8051 Motorbike, 8043 Excavator, and 8258 Crane Truck) have all been disassembled with the parts going into mocs I'm working on. I have enough PF elements in my collection now from these sets and from individual orders. I'm at the point where I would prefer to buy sets that have larger piece counts than PF elements. I could always use more pieces. Just my $.02. Edited December 25, 2010 by dhc6twinotter Quote
TechnicJuan Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Here are the prelim picks of the new sets. I seen this in the other topic and posted it here. The Unimog doesn't look like a flagship type of set large set. It also has the Mercedes License And it's orange! No extreme cruiser pics though? Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 (edited) TECHNIC These are the pics: Unimog looks great! I really hate the color scheme of the flatbed truck. EDIT: I see 'TechnicJuan' beat me WAY before I posted it. Edited December 25, 2010 by Mrlegoninja Quote
