It's a wish of their founder, Ole Kirk Christiansen, he didn't want war to be seen as child's play (the only exception is the licensed sets like Star Wars and Indiana Jones)

I guess licensed sets are ok because they are only based on fictional stories, not actual wars where millions of people were killed.

There has been some serious war machines that killed lot's made into sets:

Presumably the reasoning was that it was an old enough war. But if that's true they could make WWI tanks as well. In 2011 we get the new Ninja-theme with lot's of serious weapons.

There's also weapons in the licensed lines like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman and Spider Man.

They do not make modern war machines and weapons, which I think is a good thing. LEGO's own themes does not include killing even if almost all feature some sort of major conflict.

That Red Baron set looks pretty cool. I wouldn't mind the Spitfire or Tiger Tank or one of those classic vehicles to be made into sets.

I also understand not wanting weapons of destruction to be a part of a child's toy, however...

Technic is not for thumb-sucking kids, and current Lego themes pirates, Pharoah, Ninja... etc feature weapons and cannons and stuff.

So yeah... I'm just coming from a direction that Technic could use more variety in the types and categories of vehicles that they build.

I'm fairly sure the New York toy fairs at least almost always have the 2h sets on display. I really cannot wait to find out exactly what functions the unimog has, it looks so freaking awesome I can't wait!

LEGO will never publish a military Technic set (at least not yet). They even do not allow military creations in their Technic gallery. My Merkava tank was immediately deleted.

they have made military items, though not 'technic', they produced a couple of WW1 aircraft i think?? a sopwith camel and a fokker triplane they called the 'red baron' , both models displaying their respective military insignias.

Does this answer your question?

Nürnberg is the most likely to show 2h2011 models...
