phool Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 According to the news on BrickSet, the Lego stand was completely enclosed and by invitation only. Furthermore, no photography was allowed. I guess we will have to wait some more for decent pics Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) Technic was slightly disappointing with only two new sets on show: a flatbed car recovery truck (think car clamping and subsequent removal) which had a very neat Power Functions mechanism and a 'bucket truck': a small American-style vehicle with a raising platform on the back. There are two others slated for release but they were not in evidence at the show. That is quite dissapointing so far.... But then again Nürnberg is in a few days. And we WILL get some pictures then... Edited January 28, 2011 by JunkstyleGio Quote

BrickWild Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I really want the Unimog & flatbed when it comes out! Quote
menad Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 According to an Italian webshop the Unimog will be more expensive than the excavator. It cost 189,9 EUR. Link Quote

allanp Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 It looks like it's gonna be worth it tho depending on what features it has. Quote
efferman Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) we should wait for the official price in a official lego Prospect. i think the italian webshopprice is only for crazy early adopters. Edited January 31, 2011 by efferman Quote
wildboar Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 It have been speculated from the beginning that the price would be higher then the 8043. Quote
Pauger Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 In that case TLC seems to have gone mad again (like last year). Can't image the new Unimog is going to be worth more than 8258. Quote
Ultimario Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Why do people get upset over the 189,90€ pricetag?? Stop being silly! All recent flagships have been priced at 189,90€, what I can say with 100% certainty is that the lego recommended retail price for the 8043, 8258 and 8275 at least have been 189,90€, standard flagship price for many years, read your lego catalogs from past years, 189,90 is the recommended retail price. The real price in stores however has always been less, ranging from 125-189€ where i live. So no reason to panic. That is all. Quote
Pauger Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) What country are you from? I'm fairly sure MSRP for 8258, 8275 and 8421 was 150$/150euro. 8285 and 8297 was 120$/120euro. I can of course not argue with gradual price increases due to the market, but last year 8043 got a way to high price tag compared to the other sets. Edited February 1, 2011 by Pauger Quote
davidmull Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I really couldn't care less what price this will be,I'll even pay more than 189 if it is that,I just want it NOW! Ha I'm really looking forward to this set, hope someone gets real info at the german toy fair next week on this, Quote

I'll state what I paid for those sets below: - 8258: EUR119,- - 8275: EUR125,- - 8285: EUR125,- - 8297: EUR99,- - 8043: EUR135,- I do not own 8421 , when it was available, the price was EUR129,- (I chose to buy the bulldozer instead, silly me!) As for the price of EUR189,-, I think this is way too high. I think the Unimog will cost around EUR150,- (or I hope so...) Edited January 31, 2011 by RockeTeK Quote

I said "recommended retail price" at 189,90€. I later mentioned the REAL store prices are lower and hence there is no need for panicking. If the prices you speak of aren't about the recommended non-discounted prices then i suggest you don't reply to that part of my post. I paid 160€ for my 8275, 125€ for my 8258 and 139€ for my 8043. And these differences in price were simply due to them being from different stores. I also know for a fact that toy stores have gotten the 189,90€ as a base price for the all the latest flagship sets and from there they discount whatever they feel necessary to make a profit, that is why you don't see anyone selling at the full 189,90€ except for the few places where they stay on the shelves for ages due to a crazy price. I live in finland and the catalogs could be different elsewhere but here all flagships the latest years have had the "recommended price"(as in recommended by lego as maximum price) at 189,90€. The catalogs i speak of are those you get in toy stores for free where they show all models and stuff. Edited February 1, 2011 by Ultimario Quote
Cwetqo Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Nevermind what YOU paid. I got almost all mine large technic sets with discount, but that could change from shop to shop, so it tells us nothing. I still have catalogs from previous years and the prices were: 8421 - 129 euro 8285 - 129 euro 8275 - 149 euro 8297 - 109 euro 8258 - 159 euro 8043 - 159 euro Those are for Germany, but are valid for most of mainlnad europe. Scandinavinan countries, Ireland and Greece always had higher prices, and those in UK vere subject to pound/euro ratio. We can see that before PF prices were 129 euro max, and after 149-159 euro. I can not see whay Unimog should be more than 169 euro. It does not have so many PF parts and it's not large enough to justify larger price. Quote

I'll fix that. http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8043-1 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8258-1 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8275-1 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8297-1 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8285-2 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8421-1 And yes, I did read your post. Anyways, you live in scandinavia (or fennoscandia to be precise). TLG has a much higher MSRP in these countries than the rest of Europe and in the US. And if normal 150$-sets has an MSRP of 190 euros in Finland, the unimog will probably have an MSRP of nearly 250 euros in Finland (Assuming TLG follows their usual habit). Edited February 1, 2011 by Pauger Quote
Ultimario Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Wow, i had no idea scandinavia had that much higher MSRP than the rest of the world, in any case i don't think the MSRP will be any higher than 189,90€ even here but i fear the day that i am wrong :( Quote
wildboar Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 We still don't know a lot about unimog. But I believe that Mercedes license will cost at least 20-30 eur in price. Quote
freakwave Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 ...in the meantime, here's a link to a lot of pictures of the Unimog on a German website which give an abundance of ideas on extensions for this versatile vehicle! Looking forward to see some of them realized here! fW Quote

I hope the $200 flagship price is not a trend that is here to stay. The Unimog looks great but if it costs that much, the price would be even less justified than 8043's markup was. Quote

S@H NZ price for the 8043 is now reduced to $320, I think it was $399 originally. plus shipping $70 Quote
