Posted December 24, 201014 yr I bought another one of these game sets. Go ahead and despise me The reason: This is the cheapest way to get Zane... especially when I blew my Christmas budget on gifts for others... Name: Zane Set Number: 2113 Pieces: 19 Price: $12.99 CAD Ages: 6-14 Minifigs: 1 Theme: Ninjago Year of Release: 2011 The Package Parts of Interest The shuriken seems to be made of the soft plastic like the barb wire piece The Minifig This set is the cheapest way to get Zane; however, it's also made in Chinese plastic. The Weapons The Top Printed top. The Cards Posted a large scan for better view. Extra Pieces The contents of this set is exactly the same as Set 2257 that I reviewed previously. However, the price is a LITTLE more reasonable, simply because this is the cheapest set that Zane could be obtained in. Ratings: Playability: 6/10 Playability is passable, the top spins as it's supposed to; however, it gets mundane after a while. Design: 7/10 The tops are a smart idea; however, the 'function' of the tops are stupid; you have to spin them by hand. As I mentioned before, I thought TLG had created some sort of mechanism to allow for spinning. Price: 4/10 At $13 for 19 pieces... Minifigures: 9/10 The minifigures in this set are so awesome, a HUGE improvement on the Ninjas. The only catch: Chinese plastic. Parts: 8/10 Love the shuriken Total: 7/10 This set is passable; it was definitely saved by the minifigs and accessories. ~tin7_creations Edited December 25, 201014 yr by Peppermint_M
December 25, 201014 yr Chinese plastic? Forget that. Are you sure you're okay, Tin7? You might want to go get checked out.
December 25, 201014 yr Bummer about the soft plastic shuriken. I wanted some, but soft plastic means easily damaged. :|
December 25, 201014 yr The Cards! Woah this game is really creative! And by saying "OMG Its Chinese Plastic" you mean what? The Collectable minifigs are chinese too and I have no problem with them. But I am sad that shurikens are rubbery.. So here are my another question- Can shuriken be easily damaged? Edited December 25, 201014 yr by Lordofdragonss
December 25, 201014 yr Hmm, yes, TLG would certainly make small spikey objects that children would certainly throw out of a hard plastic. That doesn't just scream lawsuit, oh no, not at all... Of course it is a rubbery material! Thanks for the review Tin 7
December 25, 201014 yr Nice review tin7, I understand your reason behind purchasing this set solely for the Zane minifig - it's still better getting Zane in this set rather than in a bigger but more expensive one.
December 25, 201014 yr Thanks for the review 'tin7_creations', a little pricely for Chinese plastic ! Still, a cool minifig and weapons plus spinner....I'll considered in 2011....keep on spinning everyone !
December 25, 201014 yr Thanks for the review tin7 . This is the set I am most interested in. I think it looks good apart from chinese plastic . Also how well does the spining top spin? Although I expect some might make a mechanism to spin it using technic. Thanks, CB
December 25, 201014 yr Hmm, yes, TLG would certainly make small spikey objects that children would certainly throw out of a hard plastic. That doesn't just scream lawsuit, oh no, not at all... Of course it is a rubbery material! If it was that big a risk they could've made them not as insanely sharp-looking instead of using mushy easily-scraped soft plastic. Lots of LEGO weapons are hard plastic but with slightly rounded ends; it wouldn't be much of a leap.
December 25, 201014 yr Vancouver Sweet Im going there tomorrow! Hoping to find some of these sets! Thank you for the review!
December 25, 201014 yr Another great review, I was liking the looks of this theme at first, but honestly all I want the sets for are the figures and weapons, the whole game aspect of it doesnt interest me at all, so i think I'll pass on this line, at least the individual sets, maybe will get the full out system sets.

The system sets are worth it. Maybe you should try one.
December 26, 201014 yr $13? Seriously? Is this a joke? $13 for a minifig, some cards, a few bricks and accessories, and a top piece? WTH? Definitely not buying these, I'll still buy the system sets, sure, I might even buy the Spinjitzu base set, but I'm not buying the single things for $13 each, maybe if it were Ten, I might be able to stomach it, but thirteen? No. -ES
December 30, 201014 yr Great review! The white ninja minifig (Zane) looks great and is definitely the best part of the set. Very well done on the review. ~buddy~
January 1, 201114 yr Rubbery shirkens, very interesting...too bad I won't be getting this set, scout's honor.
January 2, 201114 yr I don't really understand the rationale behind making the individual figures that expensive and not making them out of the same plastic as the set figures. It will certainly make buying these figures on the secondary market a bit of a gamble :P
January 2, 201114 yr The Cards! Woah this game is really creative! And by saying "OMG Its Chinese Plastic" you mean what? The Collectable minifigs are chinese too and I have no problem with them. collectable minifigs don't cost 12.99 ... Edited January 2, 201114 yr by vexorian
January 2, 201114 yr I picked up one of these sets earlier & noticed that it was made of Chinese plastic (squares on the arms, lack of neck printing etc) & as with other Chinese made figures, my version also featured loose hip joints The spinner actually spins quite well, you can set it spinning & it'll still be spinning a good 40 seconds plus later, although the figure, which is meant to fly out in order for a player to win doesn't all that easily when you place it on the base. I had to pick mine up by the fig & shake it quite vigorously before the fig would part from the spinner. In all honesty, I wouldn't say it was worth the £6.99 I paid for the set, very expensive way of getting one fig, a spinner, a few weapons, 2 1x2 bricks a 2x2 plate & a few cards Edited January 3, 201114 yr by escortmad79
