vexorian Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Striking Venom was $50 according to Peeron. Yes, sorry about that. it is just that I was comparing the price with which I purchased the striking venom (50 USD) to the actual price I would have to pay for the mothership (85 USD). I didn't notice that I got the SV a lot less expensive than usual because it for some reason didn't have the extra pricing caused by not living right next to a LEGO factory. It did have 646 pieces as opposed to the Mothership's 416, but the ship does have those large track pieces and a sound brick. The SV had 7 minifigs.I would love getting the mothership for 60 USD. Instead of the 85 it will cost in my retailer. Quote
Delta 38 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Seriously, this theme needs a battle pack, the lack of minifigs astounds me. If I collected every set, I would have less than 10 ADU guys. Oh, and more aliens + ray guns are cool too. I agree. There should probably be more alien types, too. There are only three types if you count the Emperor and the cyborg as being the same type, and I think there should be at least four considering the rarity of the Emperor/cyborg. Quote
Ceroknight Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Here's a view at the battle pack for you guys That's so tempting!! But no since the sets are actually pretty awesome, I'm getting the tripod for 10 more dollars Quote
Rocketbilly Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 That's so tempting!! But no since the sets are actually pretty awesome, I'm getting the tripod for 10 more dollars A wise move! While this pack is cool, the Tripod Invader is infinitely cooler, and if you're a fan of the sets you're sure to end up with a fair amount of ADU Troopers and Aliens anyway. Even if you just buy the smallest set in the theme on top of the Tripod, you're making up the battlepack anyway, give or take a different face or two for the ADU Troopers. Quote
ttoole73 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Has anyone seen the jet trooper polybag in stores in the U.S. yet? I've checked Target several times with no luck. Quote
The_Box Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Here's a view at the battle pack for you guys It says 31 pieces but I count 27. I wonder what the others could be. Edited May 15, 2011 by The_Box Quote
Artanis I Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Including the civilian in the battle pack seems to be a great way to make the battle pack less useful for space fans. BPs should be for army building. This fig is taking the place of an alien troper, a scientist or an ADU soldier. And that civilian is already in the tripod set anyway. So what? Suppose you did amass an army of alien troopers and ADU soldiers. They'd still be laughable if they were trying to defend a grand total of three panicking civilians, wearing completely incongruous clothing. Doesn't make for a very grand display. You can get civilians in any city set, collectible minifigs etc... You can't get ADU or the aliens anywhere else. Pretty pointless having a civilian in a battle pack, & would've I thought TLG would rather you bought other sets to build up your civilian numbers? Quote
Gregorovich Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Here's a view at the battle pack for you guys Thanks! This does seem quite nice, and a nice army builder. However, the ADU troopers' faces are the two that come in the two smallest sets, and I'm not an army builder, so I don't think I'll be getting this. Quote

Yeah, it really should have been a fresh set of figures, rather than a reissue of ones already in the current range. Quote

The aliens are also the ones from the smallest sets. For that price (15.0) You could actually buy the two smallest sets... and get the same ADU soldiers and aliens, but many bricks instead of the civilian. Only exception would be that you would only get three human guns and one alien gun instead of 2/2 . Edited May 15, 2011 by vexorian Quote
Fugazi Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 Added direct links to the reviews in the first post. Also added the battle pack pic, thanks to Prateek. Quote
Crackseed Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 That is a rather odd battlepack considering how LEGO has been making them. The civvie is a bit random and frankly I'd rather they do the same they are doing for Star Wars. Battlepack for ADU [with scientist, etc] and an Alien Battlepack. Then you could have some weapon emplacements as well. Oh well - I'll still snag them :) Quote

Then you could have some weapon emplacements as well. Oh well - I'll still snag them :) You don't seem to recognize that non-licensed battle packs are almost never like the licensed ones. They tend to be almost all minifigures with very little building. They are also extended-line products without four-digit ID numbers. See the various results here other than Star Wars-- some, like the Pirates and Pharaoh's Quest battle packs, have a wide range of accessories, but they are mostly simple accessories that come at the price of the variety of minifigures-- those two have fewer minifigures than the Castle or ADU battle packs. Furthermore, note that there isn't nearly as much variety among ADU figs as among the aliens. Quote
vexorian Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 It may or may not be different to SW. But it does not explain why buying the BP is seemingly more expensive than buying the actual sets in which the minifigs come . Quote

Masked Builder Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Take a look at THIS! ALIEN CONQUEST! To tell you that's been shared. But I can understand not wanting to go back several pages. Quote
Zyniker Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Got some sets yesterday (finally!), and they are really as funny as I thought. Good builds, good figs, awesome pieces in brilliant colours. Right now, I'm planning to modify the Jetcopter into a bulkier version, as it looks very flat. Quote
Nakara Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) I just bought the mothership and built it. The sound brick was not just annoying, but pretty pointless too so I looted a light brick from somewhere and replaced the sound with it. Unfortunately, when I spin it the light flashes instead of staying a steady beam, but if I set the ring in exactly the right place the light continuously beams down. (Sorry for the crap pic. Some training in the art of low-light photographs, I need) Edited January 29, 2021 by JustinYum Quote
Vindicare Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 After getting most of these sets I'm a bit disappointed with the aliens crafts. Something minor though, just the lack of some place to put their guns. And I just got through building the copter, and the windshield is t secured very well at all. If you try to swoosh it through the air, and tip it to it's side, it comes loose. Not a very good safety feature. The jet that comes with the HQ is awesome. I like the color choices for the ADU as well. Overall, I really like this theme a lot. Quote
prateek Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I think this line needs more ADU vehicles/a base. Right now its too centred on the aliens. And new alien heads would be nice too. Quote
