Even though the Aussie dollar is 1-1 with US dollar our prices are much closer to double than equal. Looks like Mr Internet is going to be supplying my Lego this year - even after postage it's way cheaper. Yeah, totally. I don't/can't buy online often, which is too bad as buying online would save you hundreds over here. Is the mothership that big? I think it just looks big because of the large space left, but the price isn't very logical. At least the four smallest sets are affordable, but I really did want that mothership. Oh well... Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Guessing that the Earth Defense HQ set is going to retail for $US 89.99 and using a simple proportion formula I don't like guessing so I hunted down a few current sets with the same prices in New Zeeland, then I got the price for those sets in different countries from s@h: 2516 NZ$ 9.99 US$ 4.99 £ 3.99 € N/A SEK 59.00 7741 NZ$ 19.99 US$ 9.99 £ 9.99 € 14.99 SEK 149.00 2260 NZ$ 39.99 US$ 19.99 £ 19.99 € N/A SEK 249.00 2263 NZ$ 59.99 US$ 29.99 £ 26.99 € N/A SEK 349.00 8899 NZ$ 69.99 US$ 39.99 £ 35.99 € 39.99 SEK 499.00 8863 NZ$ 119.99 US$ 59.99 £ 49.99 € 59.99 SEK 699.00 7327 NZ$ 179.99 US$ 99.99 £ 71.99 € N/A SEK 1199.00 Unfortunately the Germans don't seem to have all the Ninjago-sets I used for comparison yet so the € is lacking quite a few prices, could not be bothered to track down other sets. Delta 38 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I noticed something fairly important... You know how there's a Lego Universe newsletter that you can have sent to your email? I've subscribed to that as I was previously in the beta, though I don't (and won't) actually own Lego Universe itself. Anyway, in this particular email, it shows an interesting image. I know lots of the pieces in the game don't exist and probably won't because of obvious reasons, but I did, however, see something that will: Clearly, the green-armoured minifig at the bottom-right corner is holding two of the new double-barreled pistols (the second is cut off, but it is there). I am almost certain that this is a new mould instead of binoculars on an existing gun. It's nice to know I was right about it being a new mould. No copyright infringement of any sort intended, though, as I couldn't find a high-resolution version of the image and had to link directly from the email's image source. The contents of the email have also been released on the official website, but the image hasn't, so I guess it's okay. Quote
---Vertea--- Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 say, has anyone seen high quality pics? I think I heard someone mention them in another topic... Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 ... I am almost certain that this is a new mould instead of binoculars on an existing gun. ... That is pretty exciting news, it sure looks like we'll be getting the new double-barrel gun piece. It doesn't make all that much sense to have a two barrels on a revolver but then again who are we to question the wisdom of TLG. It seems every new theme comes out with new accessories for the minifigures and I guess in AC we get double-barreled revolvers and alien ray guns. Quote
SBrown Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I'm actually not a fan of this newest alien set. I don't know but I think it's the larget sets that turn me off, such as the Defender HQ's and the Jet Copter set thing. I'm still trying to decide if it's even worth the money for this set at all. KurttKrueger Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Wow, how did I miss this for so long?! I'll definately be picking this theme up, if only to intergrate it into the wider Lego Space Universe. More aliens for SPIII to apprehend! :D My 4 year old son is going to go nuts when he see's these ;) Quote

My 4 year old just needs to see the green heads (like in the series 3 alien minifig) and he'll be hooked. Luckily he turns five just about when these sets hit the stores. Good to know what I'll be doing on those long warm summer nights... Quote
Aanchir Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Having looked at some pics, I like the look of this theme. The minifigs are trendy, in what seems to be medium blue for the good guys (from our original minifig pic it was unclear, but it's definitely not regular bright blue) and assorted colors for the bad guys (lime heads in general, with bright reddish violet sleeves for the soldiers). The classic-space-inspired HQ is also a work of art. While the Alien Mothership doesn't look much like a mothership, it's beautifully designed, using what would appear to be train tracks to form its outer ring. Some of the human ships also use Star Wars cockpit pieces that had only had one use previously-- for instance, the jet copter uses the cockpit from the latest version of General Grievous's starfighter, while the HQ seems to use the Magna Guard Starfighter's cockpit. Can't wait for finalized pics! Quote
Oky Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Huw over at Brickset confirmed that the humans indeed wear a new kind of blue. Unfortunately, he couldn't confirm whether the visors are trans-clear or not. Quote
Space Odysseyer Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Huw over at Brickset confirmed that the humans indeed wear a new kind of blue. Oh! Unfortunately, he couldn't confirm whether the visors are trans-clear or not. I think the visors will be trans-clear. In this invitation, the visor of spacewoman's helmet is trans-clear. Trans-clear visors were never released and there's no point making them in this colour if it won't be used in the new theme. Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Huw over at Brickset confirmed that the humans indeed wear a new kind of blue. He wrote this: http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=1114 "Alien Conquest looked aboslutely superb. It features aliens and humans and abduction/autopsy seems to be the main theme. The aliens, of which I counted something like 4 variants, have lime green heads and look great. The humans have legs/torsoes made with a new shade of blue. One set featured an archetypal circular UFO with light underneath and a very clever mechanism to abduct any humans it swoops down on. I could tell Mark Stafford had designed some of these: his trademark style was evident all over :-)" Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Oh good, the abduction mechanism is "clever", and that means a lot of tiny, useful parts! The only thing that still isn't clear is whether the new blue is exclusively for the suits, or if the vehicles are also getting overhauled in that color. Quote
user Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 It's cool that there will be an abduction mechanism but I'm not to crazy about a new shade of blue. Quote
ttoole73 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I' m hoping that the blue they use will be more like the color of the vehicles. But if they do stay the same, I hope TLG adds some black or dark gray to them, to break up ALL that blue. I also hope the sets sell well enough to warrant a second wave. I think this theme holds alot of potential, and would hate for it to end after the first series of sets. Quote
vexorian Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) It's cool that there will be an abduction mechanism but I'm not to crazy about a new shade of blue. I like it because incompatibility with classic space colors is yet another good reason not to get the human sets, that's a lot of money saved. Money that will go into the aliens' sets :) Edited January 29, 2011 by vexorian Quote

Delta 38 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Oh good, the abduction mechanism is "clever", and that means a lot of tiny, useful parts! The only thing that still isn't clear is whether the new blue is exclusively for the suits, or if the vehicles are also getting overhauled in that color. Maybe the abduction function will consist of Technic parts which pull up a minifig once a gear is turned. Hmm. Now that there's an actual function and not a claw which can just grip minifigs manually, it'd be interesting to see what this will turn out to be. As for the vehicles, I think a darker shade would look better and probably be more logical. Quote
Space Odysseyer Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 As for the vehicles, I think a darker shade would look better and probably be more logical. Yes, I too would have preferred a darker shade of blue. But the pieces of this new light blue colour too will find their application in MOCs. Quote
Tereglith Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'm really excited about this theme! It looks, to me at least, like LEGO is doing a mash-update (I just coined that phrase) of Classic Space and UFO. Since I started buying LEGO space (or getting it bought for me, anyway) at the very tail end of the UFO era heading towards LOM, I'm very glad that this is the direction LEGO decided to take the Space theme in, as most of my LEGO-buying life has been spent with space idling on Mars, with the occasional drop to Earth in the form of NASA sets (another theme they're bringing back! I'm so happy about space this year.) I've noticed that previously in the thread people have been trying to calculate the prices of the sets and they always seem to run into a problem with the jet-copter, because it has a higher number than EDHQ even though HQ is clearly larger and the flagship set. I think I have a solution to that - what if Jet-Copter Encounter is an exclusive set? Just a thought, but Shadow Snapper came out alongside the first wave of Atlantis and had a higher set number than Neptune Carrier because it was exclusive to TRU in America. Jet-Copter Encounter could be the same way, exclusive to one of Target, Wal-Mart, or TRU in America. It doesn't have its limited edition sticker on yet because these are prelims. That would place its price somewhere in the vicinity of $50, which seems a lot more reasonable. Quote
---Vertea--- Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'm tellin' ya... LEGO is bringing back magnets.... Just imagine- swoop down the UFO right above the minifig and *click* abducted! Also, I'm curious about the autopsy features.... lego organs would be neat. Quote
ttoole73 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 ---Vertea--- Also, I'm curious about the autopsy features.... lego organs would be neat. When you say autopsy feature are you referring to the Earth Defense HQ, or another set. I must've missed that. Quote
