I heard somewhere on Flickr that the Alien Conquest line is using a new blue color? Correct me if I am wrong.

The anti-alien police force's suits are a new shade of light blue

A few observations:

Two different ADU torsos. I'd seen them both before, but though that the "pilot" torso was just a prototype. Also has some sort of plastic bag printing on right leg. Only seems to appear in two different sets, both include an aerial vehicle for the ADU, so it makes sense.

In the UFO abduction set, there appears to be a second alien ray gun clipped next to the light brick inside the cockpit. Looks a bit cramped in there. Also, maybe we're not getting an ADU soldier in this set after all. Shame, but we'll see.

I could have sworn I'd seen pictures of the Alien commander having a sort of red stripe printing on his tentacles. Has anyone else seen this?

It wasn't printing-- it was just a prototype. For the preliminary version shown at ToyFair, the "legs" were just the dark red legs from the Atlantis theme, painted to be Bright Yellowish Green instead. Obviously some of the green paint chipped away, letting the dark red show through.

Well this is great! Such wonderful parts and colors!

The ADU guys look great, jumpsuits and all, and their vehicles aren't half bad.

Yet another picture of Alien Abduction without the soldier (I know it's the same one as before...) But it's frustrating as I want to see which ADU defender is coming with it. (Fingers crossed for the old guy!)

Thanks for pointing that out. It makes perfect sense, but it's a shame - as much a s I love the Alien commander, I can't help but feel the tentacles and torso look out of place together - there's just no smooth transition between the two pieces, if you know what I mean. The torso just ends too abruptly...some printing would help that I think.

the tripod has a bumper sticker that says "WE'VE BEEN TO EARTH"

That's pretty awesome.

Nice catch! I like that lighthearted sense of humor.

I should say though, the smallest set is a an amazing army builder and parts pack (as if anyone wants to build an army here...)

This theme is definitely going to be part of my 2011 collection. I never thought I will go back into Space but after seeing all of the hi-res images, it really tempted me. Furthermore, what I see here is a cool combination of Town and Space, like the good old sci-fi novel!

I just wish the pics were still preliminary and TLG would add an alien gun to the smallest set. Just replace one of the joysticks with it. :)

I would recommend the second smallest set, but its minifig has been a victim of the teeth plague. Note to TLG: People don't grin all day long, specially not when driving a buggy to war.

Yes very true, but it's a great set for the figures nonetheless; one could always order up a ton of trans-blue future space guns form BrickArms and arm the alien horde.

For real, the fighter jet alone is going to be a classic.

Unless there are very hideous surprises only found in a review, I think the HQ is going to be one of those sets that you would really have to get if you are into space. I might actually get it if I manage to get enough money after massing alien sets (because I will mass alien sets).

Blue pinstripe suit in the tripod set? Yes, yes, yes! Tenth Doctor, you may finally be finished!

My thoughts exactly.

That is pretty awesome. Good to see a sense of humour among the designers.

That's pretty big indeed, but I still go by piece count exclusively. It seems like the fairest way to determine value.

Excellent! I'll trade you 20, count 'em, twenty 1x1 round plates in assorted colors for just a measly ten pieces - all I want are two 48x48 baseplates, three light bricks, a sound brick, an XL Power Functions motor, two large Rock Raiders / Power Miners drill bits with chrome finishes and an NXT controller. Yes, I know you're getting a ridiculously awesome deal, but I like to help others that way.

I tip my hat to you sir, impressive pwnage

Anyway, that jetcopter isn't quite what I'd hoped from the early pictures, but it's still very much on my shopping radar...

Heh! Thanks, but I wasn't really trying to pwn anyone; I really just wanted to emphasize that not all pieces are the same, and some are worth more than others. Price-per-piece is a useful metric, but not the only one, and I think it's entirely possible for something with this set's price and piece count to be a fair deal, as I suspect this one will be.

Yeah, I agree. Why is it that all the smaller well-designed vehicles always come in the biggest sets?

The HQ looks like the best vehicle in terms of realistic look and structure that I've seen in a long while, yet I'm certain my budget won't manage to squish that in.

I think I'll probably cut back on some of my other Summer LEGO purchases for the sake of the HQ. It's really got a lot going for it. Even though I usually wait for reviews first, I know I'll probably be skipping some of my Star Wars purchases to pick up that beauty.
