Fugazi Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 In the Earth Defense HQ I see some blue and dark grey parts that look like 45 degree cheese slopes joined to a 1x1 plate. Or if you prefer, 45 degree slope 1x2 with the stud thinned down to a plate height. Do I make any sense? There are quite a few of them when one looks carefully. Is that a new part? Quote

Oky Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Excellent! I'll trade you 20, count 'em, twenty 1x1 round plates in assorted colors for just a measly ten pieces - all I want are two 48x48 baseplates, three light bricks, a sound brick, an XL Power Functions motor, two large Rock Raiders / Power Miners drill bits with chrome finishes and an NXT controller. Yes, I know you're getting a ridiculously awesome deal, but I like to help others that way. I saw 5th Element (again) last week and if the 7049 Alien Striker alien had just had ears... >SNIP< Hehe, true, and with the Korben Dallas that we got earlier this year, I can see a bumch of 5th Element MOCs coming up! Ha! The vic viper in the HQ set has a viper head sticker on it. It seems like a tribute to nnenn to me. Wow, nice catch! I had a feeling this was nod to Vic Vipers, and this pretty much confirms that it is. Quote
Rocketbilly Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 (edited) It would indeed be nice if the viper-a-like was a tribute to the great Nnenn, yeah, but who knows? Has anyone noticed the foot closest to the camera on the walker? you might see it's trodden in some chewing gum...nice try, pinstripe suited civilian, but you're going to have to try harder than that to take down that monster... ALSO there's what appears to be a clip piece behind the sloped grille on the smallest set. A clip that looks like it could hold a gun for the alien, though the clip looks empty. Does anyone else see this, or could it be another part? Edited February 25, 2011 by Rocketbilly Quote

It's a 92946 Slope 45 2 x 1 with 2/3 Cutout: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=92946 It's new for 2011. Quote
Aanchir Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 This new part appears in the Kingdoms Blacksmith Attack set, and apparently some new City (police?) sets just released. Have a look in those topics for more discussion. It's also in the Atlantis theme, and in some of the upcoming Ninjago sets. I tend to call it the "Stafford Slope", as suggested by its designer, our good friend Mark Stafford. One of its most valuable uses is that it can be used to continue a slope behind a windscreen with an obstructive hinge, like this one or this one. You can see it used for such in the Earth Defense HQ, on the Vic Viper. Like cheese wedges, it can also be rigged to create a roof slope without ridges (although this is more than a little awkward in practice). Quote

Oky Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Yeah, but for now, I guess we'll have to do with red hair and a custom decal for the torso. Anyway, let's not get off-topic. Quote
Bricker Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Well we have seen the finalized pictures so now we just have to wait for them until summer. I wonder what suprises well find that we dont know about when we get reviews on these. Im talking about stuff like Stormer 1.0's arm being hollow and stuff like that . Im more in the mood of getting Star Wars sets this year so im getting like only 3 of these (If I can manage to get the money for them). Im hoping LEGO will see the better side and make the sets' prices lower or devishly make them higher than expected . But the prices are final, right? RIGHT!?!?!? *panick* My wallet is in bad shape from series 3 minifigures and I dont think it can take anymore surprises . Quote
Out of Sight Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Just been snooping around the Sci-Fi forums, because of this Alien Conquest theme, I like it. Since I'm totally new and have never owned any Lego sci-fi themes, are those aliens hostile to human (minifigs). If so than this sci-fi theme pits the aliens as the antagonist, which is good, because Lego City alien invasion diorama would look neat with these guys. Quote
Muddy Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Glad this made it on page 43 (as in 43 is an idiot) Okay I have to point this cool little factoid out Okay Cryptography is cool Finding hidden meanings in things Check this out Pivot means to hold one thing in place and move the rest If you pivot ADU With the A being a pivot point You get NDA - which is standard for Non-Disclosure Agreement Basically if you talk about aliens you get the green pet one on your head... Ogggie-Boogie Boo PS there are alot of other cryptic messages hidden in the series see if you can spot them O:-) ;-) Don't talk about them though...or else Quote

Ceroknight Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Aga what? Did anything in that post make sense to anybody? A re-wording would be helpful. i'm confused as well i think he says there are lots of hidden messages on each of the sets? like the one we already discussed such as the 'i've been to earth' bumper sticker or gum stuck on one of the ships... Oky Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) I'm very confused too. Who are you calling an idiot? How do you get an N out of a U? And why on earth would you think that TLG would want to put "Non-Disclosure Agreement" as a hidden message onto minifigs? Either you're trying to be sarcastic or you're reading WAY too much into this. Edited March 3, 2011 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
CMP Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) He's saying the ADU on the human's torsos turned around is a Non-Disclosure Agreement the figs are supposed to sign or something, which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Edited March 4, 2011 by CallMePie Quote
Hewman Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 He's saying the ADU on the human's torsos turned around is a Non-Disclosure Agreement the figs are supposed to sign or something, which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. It's up there as one of the silliest things I've seen too. I think he's saying an upside down 'U' is like a lower case 'n' which is tenuous, and as for anyone into lego thinking stuff about NDAs is interesting, I really doubt it. Sure Lego get people to sign them for various reasons, as do a million other businesses, it's not really unique to lego. Quote
Delta 38 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Apparently, the ADU will brainwash you with those alien "pets" if you discuss the existence of them, which is probably some part of a vast conspiracy theory of some sort for the enslavement of the human race... Well, that didn't make an awful lot of sense, and it's almost definitely wrong, but interesting theory. I don't think the small references and jokes that Lego put in delve into that kind of stuff. Sirens-of-Titan Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I am trying to find a use for those blue jumpsuits but the damn lettering restricts what you can make with them. Any ideas for useful abbreviations that could excuse ADU in MOC's? Quote

Either you're trying to be sarcastic or you're reading WAY too much into this. Relax, it's the perfect foundation for a solid alien conspiracy theory! That's probably the most on-topic a discussion of this sort of theme can possibly get! I am trying to find a use for those blue jumpsuits but the damn lettering restricts what you can make with them.
