Algernon Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Can someone with the info (or better search skills than me - I couldn't find anything in this topic) find the prices for these sets? It would be good if they were added to the first post. *hint* *hint* They're pretty standard. The HQ is $90, the Jet-Copter is $40, the Mothership is $60, the Abduction is $30 (I believe), the tripod is $20 and the two smaller sets are $10 and $5 (I think you can guess which is which). Quote

Thanks mate, I'm not well versed in US prices yet, only been buying new sets since SP3 came out. Quote
Aanchir Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Out of curiosity, can anyone tell me if one of this theme's helmets (same ones from second-wave Space Police III and Collectible Minifigures) can fit on a minifigure wearing one of these? LEGO Digital Designer lets me do it, but there's a very visible overlap between the two pieces and I'm not sure whether that means the parts genuinely don't fit together in real life or one of the two parts is just rendered badly on LDD. TheBrickHitHouse Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 No reviews for the mothership - guess we know the dud in this line Takes up so much space for absolutely nothing worth displaying! Quote
Aanchir Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 No reviews for the mothership - guess we know the dud in this line Takes up so much space for absolutely nothing worth displaying! I think that visually it's awesome. So "not worth displaying" doesn't strike me as an adequate reason for its failure to take off. The lack of awesome features to fill that space seems to be its biggest weakness. The spinning outer ring is kind of cool, but the crane is about as boring as it comes. Also, for its size it comes with very few minifigures (even if those minifigures, besides the Alien Pet, are unique). While I'm not one of the people who insists that smaller ships be able to dock with it (in this context, I think "mothership" is meant more with the implication of "flagship"), that kind of functionality would have definitely improved the playability of this set. Algernon Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 The mothership just doesn't seem worth the money to me. Only two minifigures for $60? The abduction set had three. The size is impressive though, but again, too bare bones for the price tag. I'll be skipping it, although I don't think the set is altogether bad (the design is nice), its just not a great buy. Quote
Artanis I Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I haven't seen a tripod review either, and that was the set that seemed to have the most attention before release. I have a Mothership coming in the mail so if people want I can do a review of it. Quote

VenVoi Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Picked up the Alien Striker yesterday. For $5, it's an excellent buy. The alien's head reminds me of a Goomba; I foresee some Mario scenes. And the ADU soldier gives off a large Halo vibe. Very nice minifigs for the price! Quote
Cwetqo Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) Mothership has 24 of: Light Bluish Gray Slope, Curved 2 x 4 x 2/3 No Studs with Bottom Tubes which is highly wanted for making Emerald night Coaches or other train stuff. A few days ago there were just a few on BL and now it seems situation is getting better. It also has full circle of Indinana Jones narrow gauge rails (although in black), 24 pcs of trans blue 1x4 tiles and a lot of grey bricks, so, I will probably just buy it for parts or mod it somehow to use just center part as flying saucer. Nakara Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 The mothership itself is a pretty good set, but still, it lacks that "mothership" vibe. I know that lego obviously can't make the 15-mile party ships in Independence Day, but still, seeing some other sets in other themes, I just can't figure out why lego couldn't flesh out the ship a bit more instead of having a normal saucer stuck on a ring. I'm considering taking apart my (non-UCS) Millennium Falcon just to give these guys a proper mothership. And if they had to have it be that insubstantial and porous, I would suggest at least making the diameter twice as big or something, because the current one just doesn't cut it. Maybe next wave????? Just bought the Earth HQ (Thanks Final Exit for THAT) and the small 10 dollar jeep. I love it, definitely playable. I modded the fighter to fit about 12 flick fire missiles, because missiles are the staple of any fighter design I also made an MOC doodle of the saucer crashlanding, I might post it if I can get to my camera. At least it's a damn sight better than this: I think the set is good enough to merit a review, the only real flaw is the price tag for me. Quote
Final Exit Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Wasn't convinced with the mother ship but I'm starting to come round to it it may arrive here at some point. Quote
