surrideo Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 A bigger tripod walker with ground craft and an alien ship with ships that can be "launched" from it would be great. The HQ kinda was where the aliens were taken to be examined, just happened to be on wheels. A "Tank" on treads for the ADU would be great Quote
Rocketbilly Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I think Alien Conquest will be a one-wave theme. Whilst there are a lot of good idea for further sets in this thread, I think a lot of them are too "modern" and don't fit in with the B-Movie style sets from the first wave. Well, there could be a few more ADU centric sets but really as far as the aliens go a lot of the B Movie stereotypes have been used up; at least as far as the target audience is concerned. I imagine Alien Conquest will be discontinued come Summer. Maybe sooner, the final wave of Space Police 3 didn't get long before it was removed from the LEGO site Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 (edited) NEWS FLASH!! Amazing news for all you American builders-- Just got the Alien Mothership set at Costco for a now-discounted price of... $19.97!!! SERIOUSLY!! Not sure if this is a local price point but I'm sure it's worth checking out if you have a Costco near you. I've watched the price of this drop from $45 before Halloween to under $20 today, and I JUMPED ON IT! Very proud to say the AC line is now complete! Happy Hunting! EDIT: Yeesh. Sorry about the font thing. Just wanted to be sure people would see it. Sue me. Edited December 3, 2011 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote

Ummm, this seems rather.... eccentric. Sure, you got a good deal, but is that really worthy of a font size of 7? 5 maybe, but DEFINITELY not 7. Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I also concur! While I'm fine with licenses in general, I think that over the past few years LEGO has become more and more license-orientated. I can see why they're doing it, but I think licenses also restrict imagination; LEGO is only doing half the job, whereas original LEGO themes are just that, completely original and I prefer them. To be honest, in maybe ten years time I'm almost expecting LEGO to only produce licensed sets. That would be a shame. Not necessarily. Licensed sets are part of what inspire AFOLs to make MOCs, because we know it can be done better. For example: Without parts from licensed sets, MOCs like this, this, or this would not have been possible. Quote
Algernon Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 ^ another reason why I dislike licensed themes. Many of the sets aren't movie-accurate at all. LEGO Space is completely unique to the imagination of the designers, so it can't be inaccurate. As an aesthetic perfectionist, that's quite important to me. Also I see no reason to pay inflated prices for Star Wars models knowing that far more accurate versions can be built with the collection I already have. On the bright side, if LEGO Space is taking another break, this might give me a chance to stock up on some classic sets and do another theme review. Quote
belgian brickman Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 I am a fan of aliens so i hope a new space theme is on the way Quote
Lego Wargammer Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 some of the Aliens stuff has just been slightly discounted on Shop at Home, Lego's official website (USA) Quote
manuelexar Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Will there be a new space theme in 2012? or the space will be discontinued? (so we'll have more pinkylegos than normal legos). Quote
Ogre Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Fairview Mall LEGO store (Toronto, Canada) has all AC sets on at least 10% off...except the Mothership and Battle Pack. Odd. Why all the others and not those two as well? Quote
ProducePrincess Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Alien conquest wasn't very inspiring. Lego needs to make a theme that can stick around for more than one season. Hopefully they can bring lego space back to its roots of mini spaceships and exploration. Quote

Hopefully they can bring lego space back to its roots of mini spaceships and exploration. Not gonna happen. aside from city, TLG's primary sales come from conflict based themes, because that's what sells. I would like to see a theme that involves heavily armed explorers (calling them colonial marines would be a stretch.) meeting an alien remake of blacktron. I could see this as working because Lego avoids human on human wars nowadays. I am so sorry, blacktron fans, but thats the truth, blacktron won't return unless their aliens. Quote
hjmediastudios Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Well, KrystalKing, it seems you've hit exactly on the premise of my Space Marines theme! Quote
just2good Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I'm contemplating on getting the Earth Defense HQ with my $50 Barnes and Nobles gift card. Do you guys think it's worth it? Is their a better non-licensed set out right now that I could buy? Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Will there be a new space theme in 2012? or the space will be discontinued? (so we'll have more pinkylegos than normal legos). Well, if you look at Collectible Minifigs Series 7, there is armor that closely resembles the Spartan armor from Halo, which could mean that TLG is preparing to replace the non-licensed Space themes with Halo when/if Mega Blox loses the license. Just my opinion. Quote

And yes, I am in the middle of building it and it is well worth getting. Quote

Is their a better non-licensed set out right now that I could buy? If there's nothing else there that you'd rather get, I'd definitely get it. It's a great set, the little ship is awesome. Very swooshable. The truck is cool, as is the mad scientist exclusive to the set. Quote

Just my opinion. The chances of that are very slim. Halo is losing popularity and even though lego sets are getting more violent they would never base a childrens toy on a rated M video game. Lego making a collectable minifigure does not mean a new theme. The earth defense HQ has some great things to it. I wish the vic viper were a set on as its one of the best models in the theme. Lego making a collectable minifigure does not mean a new theme. TLG may, however, make a theme similer to, and inspired by, Halo; using the new CMs pieces. (Think Adventurers & IJ; Pirates & PotC; Castle & LotR) Note: Castle and Pirates that I refer to are the (more) recent sub-themes by those names, not the entire themes themselves. Algernon Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I wouldn't hold your breath for a Halo theme... and to be honest, I don't think we need one. We're drowning in licenses this year. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Of course the ADU could always have a new alien threat to go up against, just because the current aliens have pretty much what they need, (Although this is I think open to question.) there is nothing to say another faction could not want to invade Earth, or where ever the ADU live. (I assume Earth!) I mean in the olden days my Blacktron guys went up against M-Tron, then Space Police, then Ice Planet and Explorions before teaming up with Spirus to take on several at once. On a personal note I would love to see a return of Blacktron even against the ADU. It would be pretty good as well I think if they were to become at least inpart an alien force. I already have one alien Blacktron trooper as I suspect many do? So I can still see plenty of scope at least for the ADU, but I guess the question is can TLG? I note that the Earth Defence HQ has disappeared from their website in the last few days, which is sad as I wanted to get one. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I have been waiting until after the New Year in order to have enough fre cash to buy an Earth Defence HQ. I see it still listed as on the Themes bit of the TGL site but not in the shop. I have e-mailed them to see when it would be back in stock and have just got a reply saying it is no longer available. I will have to hunt around the local stores I guess. Quote

I think all the Lego AC commercials I saw while watching Star Wars TCW episodes might have helped. I was waiting for it to go on sale again as I had missed it the last time it went on sale. I was glad to see it marked down on amazon.com. I just built it last week and I am very pleased with it. Quote
Piranha Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 From Brickset: Cars and Dino, no more sets on the way, Alien Conquest, Harry Potter and PotC 'exit' in July... Not sure if this is implying more sets for the last three themes mentioned? Quote
