In these weeks I'm waiting for my lego ordered on brick link trying to rebuild this loco Hi there, I completely agree. Seeing all this under carriage moving like crazy when negotiating the switch points/curves is just amazing. And then the lights ... Man. Teddy, you need to do a full blown printable instruction on this beauty, no matter how long it will take ... it'll rock. I could start thinking about some background images ... I added an engine under the tender and updated the gearing in the boiler such that the big wheels and the small wheels cover the same distance per hour. The Dutch Guy Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Dear all, since I am planing to make instructions for this MOC, I have simplified the drive-train yesterday. Now only the 4 flanged wheels are powered directly via the two M-motors and the blind wheel is rotated via the coupling rods. Surprisingly the speed of the locomotive went up significantly. my guesstimate is about 20%. Especially in corners the speed has increased. Apparently there was quite some torque between the gears and the flex cables resulting in more internal friction than necessary. Now that about 4 gears are removed and the blinds are moving freely with the driving rods the entire driving train appears to move a whole lot smoother. Hello Teddy, Did you ever finish the instructions for this MOC. I think it is a great design and would love to add it to my collection. In the old days TLG produced some realy nice black steamlocomitives. These days the quality is higher, but no black machines (i only saw a MOD in black from the Emerald Express), a pitty, because i think there is a real market for (ex-)German steamlocomotives, considering the number of real locomotieves driving through Europe these days. I realy love your MOC and think it is one of the best ever. Quote

I am totally redoing the connection between engine and tender of my 2-10-0 decapod because of your "one stud" clearance...there was no way I could be happy with my shabby design! I was asking merely because Teddy himself said that he would offer the instructions, but I eventually could not find them. I have seen your version too, Train 12 Volts. Can I ask what the differences between yours and Teddy’s are? Judging from the pictures and without much expertise it seems to me that Teddy’s version includes more details? But it is hard to see and therefore I cannot judge. How did you built it, just from looking at his photos? LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 The differences are explained in the forum: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=56925 1) My locomotive have a 6x6 front dish (I think it fits perfectly with the boiler and I need it for the central led) but the original have a different size (4x4 dish) 2) The boiler is completely round where possible but you can't see the gap between the boliler and the main body to see the wheels beneath that 3) The coupling system is different, maybe more flexible but less technic: I haven't two pivot points 4) My tender is 7 studs wide and the boogies are quite different. I've choosen this solution to reduce the gap from my wagons with 6 standard studs. Quote

The reason I asked was just that I really would like to know the differences in the two builds from the groundup, because both look so close to the original. My version was also my first attempt to create a train MOC and a genesis for my fleet of locomotives! Quote

How did you know where to put which part? After all it is not possible to see the loco from every angle, and considering this was your first attempt to create a train MOC I have to say excellent job!
