Hmmm. What do we have here?

Is there a ladder or anything leading down from the trapdoor? If so, I would like to follow it down to see where it can be accessed within the store.

There's nothing leading down. Looking down, it's clear you're looking into the Third Floor of the Alabatha Department Store.

That being said, I want to ask Delores approximately what time she heard this discussion about that affair? Generalities will do, i.e. Morning, noon, before dawn, after sunset, etc. Also, the police report said minutes after the conversation she fell off the roof. Is that five minutes, fifteen, seven hundred and fifty? I'll ask Chief Phelps if he remembers how long after the body was discovered that it disappeared?

"Hmmm, I think it was just before lunch." Dolores recalls. "Also, I think it was about ten minutes after the conversation she fell."

I would like to know who could access the morgue, and if anyone in our group used to work there or visited it frequently.

"The police, as well as myself and Nurse Parker." Dr. Lloyd says.

I'd like to peek into the skylight, and see what room is underneath, along with a description of the interior.

I'd also like the read everything on the billboard, and take a look behind it.

I'd also like to examine the rope, to determine how long it's been their, what condition it's in, etc.

Patrick looks at what's under the skylight, it's the third floor. The billboard is an advertisement of the Department Store. There's nothing on the back. Patrick then looks at the rope. There's dried blood on there, and it's probably been there for a few years. It's not in good condition.

Where is it that you'd like to go too next?

10 minutes or so. That makes sense, as she had to climb to the third floor, find a ladder, set it up then climb to the roof while avoiding being seen by customers and sales attendants. And somehow in the confusion no one seems to have reported the ladder on the third floor of the Department Store.

Someone with more expertise than me can confirm this, but it's probably impossible to type the blood on the rope. Also the bloodstain in the hotel? I'm guessing the samples are either too old, or too small a sample size, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I guess I should have been more specific what I was looking for when I ran to the third floor, huh.

I don't think we are going to find anything more here. Shall we move on to the Jefferson Residence?

Oh, and James or Patrick? While your up there, take a quick look at the parapet around the building. See how tall and wide it is. If there is one.

Jackie started to climb up the ladder.

"I have an idea! I think I solved the whole thing! I know what happened!" She yelled.

In her haste, the ladder wobbled, and fell backwards...

...Instantly killing Jackie Harding / Captain Becker!

"Nooooo!" wailed her husband

"Why can't I ever save anyone?!" Dr. Lloyd asked.

Jackie! Be Caref... :cry_sad:*looks away in horror*

Who was supposed to be holding the ladder! Or was it pushed from the top of the building? Who is up there right now? I know Patrick and James went up there, did anyone else go up?

Oh my word! She knew something, did she confined this with anyone else? Oh Captain Harding, I'm so sorry, your the second widower today!

I'd like to know who was nearest the ladder when it fell.

I'd like to know if the ladder is intact, so I and James can get back down. If it is, I'd like to have someone hold it up, securely.

When on the ground, I'd like to console the Captain.

I'd like to answer the Mayors question, based on what I saw up there.

Yes, best clear my families good name, allow you to search my home. Lets go.

My Lord! Another death! I know the first was pre-meditated, but is there any reason to think this was anything more than an accident? It seems she was rushing up the ladder. Mr. Harding, you have my deepest sympathies.

:oh:*oh2*

No!! :cry_sad: What kind of place is this? Fire trucks have no wheels, my boats are getting blown up, there's been murders, what next?!

Starts to cry and get REALLY frustrated....

Thanks everyone for their sympathy.

Snap! Another death! Is it just me, or is this blasted criminal targetting wives?

I'd like to check behind the spotlight, and then proseed home

I hope not! I think I'm the only one left!

Please wait until everyone is ready to proceed home, Stevie.

I'd like to offer my deepest sympathy to Captain Harding, who is a fellow widower now.

Mrs. Jefferson, we'll make sure they won't get you if those Commie bastards are targeting wives... There will be no more made to suffer!

:oh3:

What in- how did this happen? We had people supporting the ladder, didn't we? This is an unmitigated disaster.

Alright, I should check the billboard, see if there's anything hidden or wedged in there anywhere.

Then I'd like to open up this trap-door and head back down to the street level so I can keep an eye on the Mayor again. When I get there I'd like to offer Mr Harding my condolences.

Okay, I am just going to say it, who was supporting the ladder?

Whoever you are, this looks incredibly bad on you, and it's either sheer incompetence on you are sided with the commies, killing someone who had just managed to solve the death. I am not convinced her haste could have been the only cause of her death.

I am not one for pointing fingers, but Mrs Harding is dead, and it's the second one aswell, so obviously, I am rather worried.

Woah, that is just not right. Will is up here, too, right?

I agree that we should go to the Jefferson's next.

I will check the parapet CAREFULLY to see how wide and tall it is. After I would like to ask the mayor to help hold the ladder as we climb down.

I was holding the ladder, as well as some others, but I am not sure how it slipped from our grasp.

Perhaps the vibrations of Mrs. Harding knocked the ladder out of my hands

There wasn't anyone near the ladder. A few of the people on the ground put the ladder back up, so the others can get down.

"The parapet stretches all around the roof of the building. It's about two feet tall." Patrick says.

Will checks the billboard, but there's nothing hidden or wedged in there. He then foolishly jumps down from the trap-door onto the third floor. He hurts himself, as it's a twelve foot drop, but he recovers and heads down to the street.

"Sorry for your loss." he says to Captain Harding.

Woah, that is just not right. Will is up here, too, right?

Not anymore.

You weren't holding the ladder. She was going up too fast.

I'll help hold the ladder as people descend.

Mayor Bradford holds the ladder for Dolores, Patrick, and James.

I say stay on the ground so you don't fall but who listens to a deckhand. I am deeply sorry for you Captain, life sure is harsh at times.

True, but depending on the time of day, there could/should have been witnesses. It's not like the firemen in the firehouse wouldn't notice a housewife climbing the stairs to their roof.

Unless there was a fire.

"The police, as well as myself and Nurse Parker." Dr. Lloyd says.

There's dried blood on there, and it's probably been there for a few years. It's not in good condition.

So, that seems to lead me to think that a current or ex-government worker stole the body.

Also, a fall from a roof should not leave dried blood on a rope. That might help explane why her body went missing.

I would like to know about how busy the department store got arround lunch or if it closed for lunch.

Yet another death...what is this coming to?

It might be possible someone has a grudge against Ralph, possibly not even communist, but insane all the same. If so, that person had to have been in Alabatha when his original wife was killed. I'll think back to the list.

I'd also like to climb down after checking the spotlight (?)

I never mentioned anything about a spotlight?

I would like to know about how busy the department store got arround lunch or if it closed for lunch.

"That was five years ago, it's impossible to know how busy it was. However, I checked the fire department logs, and there was a small fire near the outskirts on that day." Congressman Bob says.

I mean, checking behind the spotlight

What spotlight?!

I will very carefully descend the ladder while it is being held.

After a moment of silence for Mrs. Harding, I think we should press on with our search of the Jefferson house.

James reaches the ground.

"We're just waiting on Stevie." Inspector Liebenston says.

I did not mean that day exactally, I just ment in general. But a small fire would empty the fire station and not arrouse a huge investigation.

This is all terribly strange. The bloodied rope on the roof and the height of the parapet just proves that this couldn't have been a mere accident. I think that the poor woman was already dead by the time she was pushed off the roof, and the body disappeared because someone didn't want an autopsy to be performed and a bullet hole to be discovered! Remember the soviet gun we found hidden on the third floor of the department store? I bet that was how she was killed. The rope was then possibly used to haul her up to the roof. But why would anyone, even a commie, want to kill her? Is there something in her past that we should be aware of?
