Hi everyone,

I know it's been awhile since I've shared anything here, since I've been pretty busy, but I thought I'd take the time to share something fun with you guys. The last ten days, I've been traveling all over Costa Rica through Caravan Tours and I brought a Lego Indiana Jones with me for the heck of it. Soon, I began taking photos of him exploring the jungle, and the whole project took off from there.

Posted here are a few of my favorite photos, but please feel free to explore the full set of 50 photos in my Flickr Gallery.

These photos have pretty much only been cropped, so all color tinting is natural or achieved by off-camera lights. My brother helped me with many of the lighting effects, including LED flashlights and covering my camera's flash with a leaf. And yes, that's a real iguana.

With no further ado, I present: Indiana Jones in Costa Rica!

These are all great outdoor shots Inky! These are simply perfect for the always adventure-seeking Indian Jones fig. Each shot is captured very well with its own unique 'Wow' factor. It's really nice to see IJ side-by-side by real wildlife. Impressive job overall!

Nice shots! Very clear and sharp. My favorite would have to be the one with Indy next to the shiny cocoon.

If it's not too late, you should enter the Star Wars photography contest, I think you'd be a good entrant. default_blink.gif

Those are some awesome snapshots, particularly the ones with wildlife up close and personal! That Indy sure is fearless.

What is that thing in the fifth picture down?

Thanks SilentMode. I believe you're referring to the butterfly chrysalis. It's one of the prettiest all natural things I've ever seen. When I saw it, I thought it looked like a golden artifact of some sort, so I took a picture of it with Indy.

Thanks Kiel! I'm glad you like them. I had a lot of fun myself, and it's a big bonus that everyone here can enjoy the nature and wildlife too.

Jimbee, I'd love to put together an entry, but I'm not sure I'll have time. We'll see though.

How did you even get close to that butterfly? *huh*

It has to either be dead, or some really neat timing!

These pictures are amazing! Well done! How'd you get Indy to pose with the butterfly and chameleon?

The butterfly with its wings open was injured, but all the other butterflies in my gallery were just mellow and didn't fly away. The iguana had just fallen in a pool and was drying off after we rescued it.

The third one is really sharp. Great lighting on it. Nice job overall.

Thanks! :classic:

hey, that's so cool! :sweet: you oughta take all those pictures you got, and get the Indianna Jones theme tune, and make a movie! :sweet: seriously!:thumbup:

Interesting idea. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone!

Fantastic shots. I love them! As soon as I get on flickr, I'm adding you as a contact! :sweet:

If you're referring to that butterfly, it is a Morpho. Here is the Morpho Butterflies Wikipedia page.

Sorry if that's more than you needed... I'm an insect enthusiast.

Excellent pictures!!! I hope you have liked our country. I definitely liked seeing Indiana Jones exploring the nature of my dear country! How did you take the one with the iguana? What about the grasshopper?

By the way, you just made me feel REALLY bad about not having visited Tortuguero ever in my life! Now I'll have to go, and my Indy minifig will probably want to come with me

I have many fond memories of my visit! :sweet: Definitely one of the best vacations I've ever taken. Your country is so beautiful and the people I met were so kind. I'd love to go back some time, maybe even live there and practice my Spanish.

The Iguana had just fallen in a swimming pool and we rescued it. I took the picture while it was recovering. The grasshopper was unfortunately dead at the time, but we saw plenty of living ones!

Tortuguero was the best part of the trip, and I strongly recommend going. We went several small boat cruises to look for animals, and once it was pouring rain. That was the most authentic rainforest experience I had. There was nothing but the river, the jungle, and the rain. Pura vida, y pura agua!

It's alright, I'm an insect lover too! Morphos have always been my favorite butterflies since I was a little kid, and needless to say, I was excited to visit a butterfly garden with live ones.

I'm glad this old thread's been resurrected-- those are some gorgeous shots!

WOW!!!

You got skills I would die for!

I'm speechless...

Great photos!

Thank you all of the wonderful comments! This was the last thing I expected to find in the active topics, and it brought an unexpected smile to my face.
