The Kid Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Will ship by June 9th. My birthday! ;-) I saw this in TRU on Friday. Didn't buy it; looks okay though, might get it for my birthday if I can't get the Sailbarge. TK
Zane Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 I'm off to see if TRU have it in stock yet. Can't wait for it! Two months waiting already...Striking Venom vs Supernova shall soon begin! -Tilius-, and his mental age of four.
JoeMI6 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Thanks for the info. I'm hoping it will be in Bluewater when I go there on Thursday.
UltraPrime Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 What timing! My set I bought from ebay just turned up. It is a great set though, so don't regret it.
sam89 Posted May 29, 2006 Author Posted May 29, 2006 Thanks for the info. I'm hoping it will be in Bluewater when I go there on Thursday. It could be, but it wasn't there on Saturday (the other three new Exo-Force sets were though).
Lord Thrawn Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 There's still time. And even if it's not there, it has been seen in TRU so I could go get it there.
Zane Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 UK TRU? Since when? EDIT: Just rung my 'local', and they have it!! I'll get it tomorrow. Also, when asking for Inika, they said they'd had 'newer ones in since them'. How odd.
Lord Thrawn Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 I wouldn't trust TRU UK staff. I hiked all the way up to Luton (sadly...) to go get my Toa Lhikan and Kikanalo which they said they had after some time on the phone, and it turned out they had Jaller and Gukko. The only similarity is in the storyline, that Lhikan and Jaller wear the same mask. I was very disappointed. This is why I just go to my local in Stevenage now. It's only 15 mins away...
The Kid Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 UK TRU? Since when? Since my post above: I saw this in TRU on Friday. ;-)
Zane Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Yeah, but you're in the US whilst Thrawny over there's British. And the SN hasn't been reported in the UK before....
The Kid Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Yeah, but you're in the US whilst Thrawny over there's British. And the SN hasn't been reported in the UK before.... Nah, I'm in the UK, the location is where The Kid lives (See Driver: Parallel Lines). ;-)
Zane Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Oh, okay then. In that case, I thank you for informing me! I was going to wait until my b-day to get it, but I'm too impatient. 8-
Lord Thrawn Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Somehow you've all managed to make me look stupider than I am! :-P Thanks for the confirmation, though.
KimT Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Can't wait - must have two of these babies *wub* *wub* *wub* KimT
Zane Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I got it, built it, and it's pretty cool, though maybe a couple of quid overpriced. Either way, it's really neat. Though a tad fragile...
sam89 Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 How does it compare to the other four mechs? Would you say it's the best out of the five? Worth it?
Zane Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 It's very much the best, assuming you don't mind the colours. It still has the odd back design, but the 'solar panels' on the back make it less obvious. The hands have proper wrists and fingers, and the arms are nicely bulked up. The cockpit is also the best, because it's just in the right place and almost fully surrounds the figure. It overall looks much grander and proffessional than the others, is much more fun to build and overall looks and plays much better.
sam89 Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Thanks, I guess I'll be getting this. I don't really mind the price; it has roughly 50% more pieces so costs 50% more.
UltraPrime Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Yup, I agree. My favourite of all five mechs. The way the weapons are held is really nice.
natelite Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 well, my fav is the stealth hunter. it's simple and visually appealing. while i do agree that the hands are a great selling point, the supernova hands can be quite flimsy. you will need these pieces to hold the arms in place. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2654 dont try modding the other 4 mechs to have hands either. supernova's hands do not fit well. they give the stealth hunter the "popeye" effect (large forearms). also the fibreoptic cable for supernova is slightly longer than the 4 mechs. so if you mod the hands you will need to get longer cables.
Lord Thrawn Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Well, I found mine in the London Borough of Brent TRU, where I just happened to be today. They had loads of stuff, and all in all a good LEGO selection. Really nice set, BTW. I'll be doing a review, perhaps.
