Although some of the minifigures in there are quite off, but I generally view this as a very useful parts pack for my bin collections. I will definitely grab at least one of this to supplement into my collection.

Personally, this set is less of a collection of useful minifigures and more a collection of useful minifigure pieces. A lot of these figures are not very true or accurate compared to their respective themes. This set would be great for minifigure torsos and accessories but the figures by themselves aren't really that cool. Just my view.

I'm not sure what you mean by "true or accurate compared to their respective themes," but I find the distinction between useful minifigures and useful minifigure pieces an extremely subtle one; to me, the one usually implies the other anyway.

The inclusion of things like the dark tan pith helmets and so on makes this set even more attractive to me than I initially thought it would be. I'm particularly pleased by the one-piece animals (frog, snakes, spiders, crab, clam), which aren't available in Pick-A-Brick often, and at least a few of which are kind of hard to come by, in my experience.

I'm just concerned this set won't come to the US. The inclusion of the chimney sweep and bride seems to suggest this might be a Europe-only release a la the '08 Castle and '09 Pirates Advent Calendars, since I don't think the chimney sweep / wedding tradition is particularly well-known in the US (I don't remember having heard of it before seeing it mentioned in the EB forums in relation to this set). I was also at the LEGO Store in Lawrenceville, GA just yesterday, and they did have this set's companion set (the City Community one, replacing the old Community Workers set), but not this one, and I'd think they'd get both in at the same time if they were getting them at all. But let's hope...

That is a chimney sweep. I guess he is based off the Danish H.C. Andersen story, since this is a 'fairytale' minifig collection.

I've got access to two Lego stores (being in London), and both have different and ever-changing Build-A-Minifig parts as well as different PAB walls. The number and kind of parts definitely varies, but there's no telling what's at which store unless you go there (or someone makes a report).

Yes... I've found some of these parts in our "build a minifigure" section; I don't always look there, I don't think it's generally a good buy, but I will tell you this: I have NEVER seen the printed slope pieces (dresses) for sale there despite having the "dress" torsos, which is pretty disappointing. I've also never seen a chromed crown and, of course, they never have capes or the like.

I'd probably be interested in this set if it were available in the U.S..

These minifigs are only already existing minifigs or put together of already existing minifigure parts.

Plus minifigs of different historic epochs and different stories are trown together.

Not as many rare and wanted parts in this set as the city one. I'm not buying it, considering the price point. The more I look at this set, the more it looks like a mish-mash of parts from sets that didn't sell too well. Excellent review though.

Also, those white clams were also availible in a Spongebob set, I believe it was Mrs. Puff's Boating School or something like that. It came with 2.

I'd agree with some people that this is a bit of a... weird set. I'm also rather shocked at some of the torso positionings in it - eg, the king's torso on the snake charmer, a pirate-y torso on one of the soldiers... it's just... wrong

I would say that the short knight and princess are definitely cute. I want those grey legs for the plastic edition of my WoW Gnome Warrior.

Thank you for another great review of the Education Fairytale and Historic Minifigures. I also just bought this one on Amazon.com for $47.04 USD. Great buy considering that this set is from 2010-2011.

Ugh and the pain of being an adult collector in Japan sinks in again >< I just found out these exist!

Sure enough looked them up to see what I could get them for here in Yen and it was expensive! Both of these sets (9348 and 9349) could boost my population count by a lot though and give me some degree of variation for other figures once I take some of these parts to use on my existing sets.

Going to have to mull over importing these very hard over the next few months and keep tabs on international lego pages better as the official Japan site goes to great lengths to NOT highlight what sets we are being shorted compared with our fellow collectors abroad.

Interesting, I think I recently found the remains of this set amongst some Lego that was going to be thrown away at a school. It had lived too long amongst 3-4 years olds and apparently it was taken away from them because they used to try to eat it... I now I have a lot of armless torsos and a mermaid tail.

Nice review, I always like these sets for gaining more minifigures, but it's certainly an odd mix of them.

There's still 10 of this set left in the LEGO store next to my home, so I just got mine last week, with the points on the VIP card :)
