I believe the KK logo was included on the packaging so that it could be sold on the shelves with other Knights items in Japan; my understanding is that elsewhere it'll be a web/LEGO Store exclusive.

I've noticed a funny trend. Back in the good old times of classic Castle, Pirates etc. good sets were part of everyday's life, they were in the shops, they were nothing "special" in a sense of availability. Today a set better than average, like this one, is often an exclusive limited issue, sold only online, not everywhere (AFAIK there are a lot of countries to which S@H doesn't deliver stuff, mine included) and so on.

you're right

i see several possible reasons:

1) they want to boost the sales of their own SAH. get a higher profit there compared to the costs of the system. It's fairly new , as you said, a trend, I think it's part of the new strategy of the company.

2) larger, expensive sets don't sell as well as the smaller sets. many shops probably don't want high quantities of larger sets and if they do want lots of large sets they'll probably want them, not all at once, but in small batches in a 6-12 month period... so Lego would be better off by keeping these sets in large quantities for their own shops. distribution of these sets is just too expensive.

3) they'll probably also try to control all economics involved with these particular sets. that way they can be as flexible as possible...

Wow, I'm speechless. I sure hope this is just a proto, because if that were the real one, TLC would really show that they have little fantasy left for castle. It looks just the same as King Leo's castle, the only differences are the torture thing and other minor ones. Where does this even fit in in the current KK line?

I guess TLC is trying to consist the story of KK ! & KK II, re-write the story between King Leo (Lion) and the evil ally. In KK I, the enemy is Cedric (Bull). By now, in the picture of 10176, you can find another character (seventh figure)

I suppose the Bulls & Dragons attack the Leo's Castle in the new KK I story. Finally, Leo won the war. The Cedric became Leo's man. The mark of old Bull (KK I) is very similar with KK II wave 3's Adric. So I suppose the Bulls become the ally of Lions. The color changed to red instead of black.

It's NOT a re-release. It is simply a castle inspired by King Leo's (and much better IMO) and Royal Knights Castle. Bricklink has plenty of classic castle sets for sale, give me a new design any day- even if it does have it's flaws. *knight*

That's an interesting theory. I am curious as to how they plan to continue the knights kingdom if at all.

Did they ever announce the winner of that one create a faction/knight contest? Do we know where they're headed with that?

I am beginning to wonder if this was pitched as the follow up to KK1, but marketing pulled the jjelly bean stunt, and now in an effort to release a slightly nicer castle product they got this unfinished idea off the shelf and flushed it out with spare parts...

Come on people, when was the last time a picture was posted that actually WAS fake? NEVER! So why would this be.

While I am fairly sure this is a real set now, there have been fake pics out there. I have seen quite a number of fake box art pics. Granted, the vast majority of them aren't trying to pass them off as the real thing, but they could. Here is one example, made up for the Wayne Manor contest.

On a completely different note, I wonder if Lego will start a series of 'themed' spring cleans like this? It still doesn't solve the bley issue, but some people might be glad to have them...

It would make sense, if that is what it is. Still seems like a strange set to me...I am going to withhold judgement until it is avaliable to buy. It is screaming "prototype pics" to me. But, hey, I've been wrong before.

Just ordered it on Lego.com on 7/19. It looks awsome. it has classic castle, with awsome new features like the forge and torture chamber. Those are a good use of that under space that is usually wasted. Figures look kind of weird, mix between KK and old king leo. Still, I am excited about the arrival.

Don't know if i'll do one. I'll just have to see if someone does one first. I don't think it is available in retail, only lego stores, so many people might not get it before i do. It will get here monday, which is only 5 days after its release on wednesday. By the way, as anyone else ordered this set? From the sounds of this post, no one has yet. I know it was just released wednesday, but I know a lot of people who order as soon as something is out. And, if someone has who lives on the east coast, you will probably get it before me. Don't wait to see if I am going to do a photo review before you do one. I am more than happy to let anyone do one.

I recieved mine from LEGO on Friday and built it yesteray. I was surprised at the large amount of 1x light bley bricks and inverted slopes. The set has several nice features including the dungeon and blacksmith. While the set could be better, it is one of the best castles on that particular baseplate first used in 6091 King Leo's Castle. The figures and new colored ghost are very nice.

That's odd. I live in the same general area, but will get mine on Tuesday. I think that he probably used faster shipping, but i am on a budget, and son't want to spend anoth $10 for it to arrive a few days earlier.
