Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 5, 2011 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 5, 2011 As already stated, it is extremely hard to make a selection out of these ships. Here's my vote: 6. La Mort Royale --> 1 point This ship is unique as it's the first one introducing a number of revolutionary building techniques that are now copied by so many. It is the mother of an entire fleet of ships. 3. Le Requin --> 1 point Another ship from the great Captain Green Hair (the best ship builder of all times IMHO). Great color scheme, line, stern, etc. Wonderful ship! 11. Le Sang Royale --> 1 point Using techniques from the 2 previous ships, Admiral Bejaune has made a fantastic 64 gun ship of the line. Perfect hull and perfect rigging/sails. Can a LEGO ship look better than this? 22. Guerre de Roue --> 1 point Before Captain Green Hair found his way to our forums there was the amazing Richie Dulin (Legeaux) who spoiled us with some great ships. Richie often went for less common ships (we see a lot of warships/frigates already) and this armed sidewheeler has a pretty unique design. And I even like the color scheme 23. Egregious --> 1 point A Whaling Brig . Do I need to say more? What a great looking ship! I loved this ship from the first glimpse I saw. Thanks Richie, and I hope you didn't abandon your LEGO hobby completely and return one day with some new creations. 2. RTS Zavala --> 1 point This is the masterpiece of RTN LNA (Kurt). Before Kurt made this ship he already created some nice ones, but this is really the best he ever did. I'm hoping we'll see some new work from this amazing ship builder in the future. The fact that he managed to make the deck of this ships so wide without making it look bulky is a great achievement. Also I like the working propulsion system. This is a true masterpiece! 15. Vesta --> 1 point One of the things I admire in ship builders like Admiral Croissant, Captain Blackmoor and Perfectionist are the details they put on the deck of their ships. Maybe their deck innovations (and ornaments) are as big a revolution as the techniques introduced by Captain Green Hair. I didn't consider any points for the ships that I worked on (often with Captain Green Hair) because I've been too close with those and don't have an objective view on them.
captain crossbricks Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 My votes go for. 1 point to Yellow Theif. 3 points to Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion 2 points to Vesta 1 point to HMS Prince of Wales
Admiral Bejaune Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 This is one hell of a list. The ones that stand out to me: 6. La Mort Royale: 2 Points. I love this ship. It was one of the first to use the famous Greenhair techniques and a big inspiration for Sang Royale. 3. Le Requin: 1 Point. The overall shape of this frigate is pleasing to the eye. Upon seeing this ship many years ago I broke up my entire moc fleet to rebuild, because I knew that lego shipbuilding had gone to a new level. 8. HMS Prince of Wales: 1 Point: Great lines, proven technics, and another large ship to give many a run for there money. The best ship of the line built for the British. And I thought she carried more than 48 guns? Great ship 18. Achille: 1 point. The cleanest rigging I have seen and the best headrails out there. This is a great one, The red line and yellow ornaments contrast on this one SCREAMS French! And the finished interior and snot decks give a realistic dockmodel feel to this moc. 9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion: 2 points. There is not much more that I can say about this ship that has not already been said. The lines are perfect and the colors are as real as it gets. Boney and Greenhair have proven to be be a great building team. Thanks everyone for voting and building -Bejaune

RocketSeason Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Man, It's difficult 'cause I have poured over these beautiful images so many times while working (slowly) on my own ship. 3 Points - 6. La Mort Royale - She is just the most beautiful and perfect example of what I love in a LEGO sailing vessel. 2 Points - 23. Egregious - I had to go with a non-Captain Green Hair ship, and this is a beauty. The story that accompanies this build is what really made it special for me. 1 Point - 10. French Navy Xebec - I honestly don't care for Xebecs much in real life, but this ship just looks fast and mean! Beautiful lines and beautifully re-created in LEGO! Great work everyone!
