Holy whatever-is-holy! This is amazing. I'm sure that is more than 1.5 million pieces, considering that minifig scale aircraft carrier is 300 000 pieces itself (can't find the picture right now).

Ed Diment's? Keep in mind that that one uses lots of small greeble and detail pieces, while most large Miniland models are essentially brick sculptures, built studs-up from basic bricks staggered to accomplish curves. 1.5 million 2 x 4s will go a lot further than the same amount of 1 x 1-size pieces.

So much new stuff... AT-TE! Lambda shuttles! Gungas! LAAT/is! And a pretty decent-looking AT-AP! These larger models are turning out a lot nicer than the T-47 and X-wing did.

Yes, one reason why most UCS sets have such great parts-to-price ratios.

Very nice! The Hoth section is looking pretty good, hopefully it'll make up for the ugly T-47s. And 750 Battle Droids?!? :oh: I'm also loving the MTT, but to me the massive Lambda is my new favorite.

Wow, I just love the way they've built this. Inaccuracies aside, all the angled and SNOTed surfaces come together wonderfully.

Blech. The opposite end of the spectrum. I swear, a curvaceous ship like the N-1 in a square-based medium like LEGO is a disaster waiting to happen.

Both agreed. But if you look at the way they did the Naboo starship from the opening scenes of Clones, it makes you even more disappointed that they couldn't do the same for the N-1. I think I like the Lambda better than the AT-AP, though.

Oh, if you'd rather skip right to larger pics, the full flickr set is here.

KimT, are we allowed to deeplink these pics?

Hell yeah!

WARNING: Lots of pictures.

*snip*

:cry_happy: Look at all the beautiful Star Wars LEGO...

All the models are beautifully designed; and I especially like the Cantina and the Geonosian Colosseum.

Well now that it's open, there are plenty of pics on flickr. I found nearly 200 in one set here. (though admittedly that was just the first thing that came up in the search results)

I just glanced through this time, but other than my previous comments I'll say that the LAAT/i's and LAAT/c's are pretty ugly; the Octuptara is pretty nice, Mustafar seems rather meh other than the Naboo yacht, and LLC's landscaping is as fantastic as always.

Very nice. Some things are amazing, but others are just ugly. I want to see it in real life to really judge it though.

I really like the Gungans, BDs, and MTTs though

I'm really curious as to why the LAAT/i, LAAT/c and AT-TE look so contorted; the proportions on most of the other models (the AAT and AT-ST for example) aren't nearly as bad.

I agree, that Octuptarra tri-droid looks fantastic. Too bad it's the one from The Clone Wars; I was really expecting to see one of these.

What is that?

I didn't. The Sith Octuptarras were on Mygeeto, and we knew there wouldn't be a Mygeeto scene. Plus we knew that Octuptarra's were key Sep vehicles on Christophsis, so I expected to see CW ones from the time I heard we'd see Christophsis.

I found some pictures of the Star Wars Miniland in Billund.

Ben's photostream

I'm not that exited about it. All these emptiness in the dioramas and lovelessness for details. It actually looks unfinished. What do you think? But for my final verdict I have to visit Legoland Germany this summer.

Now what was a 7141 doing in there?

I guess it's the only Naboo fighter they had available, until the new one is out. I'm pretty sure that they built an N1 for this. Why didn't they?

I agree. The thing about Miniland is that the model builders are instructed to make it look LEGO-ish, so they build it with the most basic bricks possible to achieve the shape, most always studs-up, and they use studs-up staggered bricks and plates to shape curves. In the end it looks more like a brick sculpture.

Yes shure that's not bothering me. But if you compare the other models and displays in miniland, such as all these fantastic towns with an incredible rich amount of details, I really don't understand why they give us on the other hand an emty hoth base with absolute no details beside of a x-wing and two pilotes. :hmpf_bad:
