Posted January 7, 201114 yr I'm new here sso first I want to thank god that this place exists. I tried the Lego.com messages boards but that place was a nightmare. So Im happy to be here.So here is my topic The hogwarts castle looks great! I saw a review of it and it even though it is the biggest Hogwarts built it still seems small. Which brings us to my question today. Has anyone modified it? If so how did you do it? What has bothered me the most are the common rooms they are awfully small I was thinking of making the tower higher and create an extra room or 2 and add some 2x10 planks. For if I tried to make it wider I would have to change the entire building. Also in the books did Hufflepuff and ravenclaw also have towers or did they live somewhere else? Read the books 4 years ago (Im getting old =( ) so I can't remember much. Ideas critisism and poining out flaws would be appreciated. -Rj
January 7, 201114 yr I thought Ravenclaw was also in a tower and Hufflepuff was somewhere on the groundfloor. Maybe this site can help you HarryPotterLexiconLink By the way: welcome on Eurobricks. You can say hello in the "Hello, my name is" forum. Edited January 7, 201114 yr by Wout
January 7, 201114 yr I have tried to modify the vanishing cabniet room but it is to small Howerver dumbledore's office might be able to be MODed... The castle can be taken apart into sections so you wouldn't have to MOD the WHOLE castle Hope I helped! Edited January 7, 201114 yr by pompommini
January 7, 201114 yr Author Yeah I could maybe take apart 1 building combine it with my pieces and come up with something new. Hmm. So I wikied it and Slytherin is in the dungeons (ha lego!), Ravenclaw is in a tower on the west side ,gryffindor is correct, and Huffle Puff is accessed from the kitchens so I will build my own kitchen (that will be fun! No sarcasm). This will take me a couple weeks(with school) but It will be fun to do. I will post pictures when I'm done.
January 11, 201114 yr Be warned, i'm modding this castle myself and be prepared to spend a lot of money!! If you look at the Potter lexicon on the web you will soon want to do the whole castle and it is huge! The new Hogwarts is a great playset for kids but all it did for me was make me want to make it bigger which soon ended up with having to buy another castle as you can't get most of the pieces from shop@home My advice is wait for one of the big shops to do a 3 for 2 sale and buy 3 of them! Split the sets down and sell off the minifigures. You'll be amazed at how much money you can raise from selling Voldemort, Dementors and the Professors. You'll end up playing less than for 3 castles than you would have for one. The only reason I wouldn't do this often is that I think it's a bit unethical as this is a popular set and was very hard to find at the end of the year (still is I believe). I didn't like to think that me being selfish would stop some kids getting it to play with.
January 11, 201114 yr Author Buying 3 castles is a great idea. And Voldemort dementors and professors go for at least 15$ each on eBay but do you think they would really do a 2 for 3 deal when they have such popular sets?

Best Chance for this is a 3 for 2 deal at TRU and hope that they have it in stock.. My TRU has been out of HP since mid-December, so i have to shop online, or through a Lego store. BTW, you really ought to reconsider if you are looking for a two for three deal, it isn't a very good one. Well, for you, that is. . Edited January 11, 201114 yr by Sirius Black
January 12, 201114 yr Tesco in the UK did a 3 for 2 offer in the run up to Christmas. I think it only ran for a day though and luckily they were the only place to have any castles left. Got double clubcard points too!
