Looking at the #8110 Mercedes Unimog for 2H 2011, It made me think that there could possibly be a new theme upcomming, Mercedes-Benz.

My link

Hopefully Lego do make this theme as there is potential for many more Mercedes products e.g. Mercedes Actros Truck

Who agrees???

I can't see it happening. TLG have made many low scale licenses; Boeing, VW, Toys 'r' Us, McLaren, McDonalds, Nesquik... I think this'll be one of those.

Do I want it to be a bigger theme? Not particularly. I find licensed vehicle lines annoyingly restrictive and up the price for little good reason.

On the other hand, 'Siegfried' - it is a licensed product and there is generally more than one on the cards......be that only one or two per year....a yellow sports car followed by a blue police car comes to mind !

Besides......I found something for us to read......partly connected to this topic, see what you all think ?

Report written for Lego

Brick On Everyone !

If there were to be a Mercedes theme, it won't be sports car like cars, more like luxurious cars, since that's what Mercedes is...I wouldn't mind if they made it a theme but I'm not a big fan of lego cars...

Is it possible? Maybe. Lego made Lamborghini, Ferrari, Volkswagen, Cadillac, Rolls-Royce etc

I'd say they would go to more of a sports car like brand like Porsche or Bugatti since that would be more appealing to a majority of Lego fans.

I think it quite likely they continue the Benz theme. And actually, ceroknight, if I may say so your disinterest in cars kinda shows.... Mercedes makes high-end sports cars very often - there's an AMG version of almost every model! (AMG means the speedier versions). ;)

'neewayze, if LEGO made a Porsche theme I would kill myself. I am not a fan of Porsches. :P

Still, it looks pretty interesting! :D There's definitely some potential in the theme, in my opinion. It would be especially neat if they made an old 300SL, like so:

no one can deny that that is a very pretty car :D

Oh I know, they make fantastic sports cars, our family owns one

I'm saying it's just a small portion of the luxurious brand :classic:

A Porsche hater *oh2**huh*

I definitely like the idea of a Mercedes-Benz theme (or any other brand, really).

The only thing I don't like about scale models of cars made with Lego is that the curves of a car do not translate very well to Lego bricks. That won't be much of a problem if they made a set for the G-Wagen (which they should).

I don't really understand nor share your enthusiasm about the allegedly super-uber-awesome Mercedes Benz series. The licensed series are at least 50% more expensive (here in Poland) than regular sets. I saw preliminary sets of Pirates of Carribean and I must admint this series will be all about minifigs because sets are tragedy.

But here? I hate paying 50% more for Mercedes Benz logo - which I can make myself because it will be a sticker. Designing an Unimog cabin is quite simple because there have already been many of those on Brickshelf or Flickr.

That's why I hate licensed products and until when I heard about the Mercedes I was extremely happy about license-free Technic line. Now I'm not purchasing the Technic flagship for 2011.

I'd be great, but if such a theme really gets introduced, I'll hope for SYSTEM Mercedes sets!

Cheers!
