9thDragonfly Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 (edited) as some of you might know, there's a germany-wide NINJAGO tournament; 200 events in several cities and the final round in LegolandGermany at october 8th. I would like to take part in it, but since the NINJAGO sets will first available in february / march, I'd like to ask a few questions: - are the 'original' plastic spinners [2504 Spinjitzu Dojo] better than the 'chinese' plastic [2113 Zane] ones? - are there any tactics for the gameplay? like; wich weapons to choose are useful, wich not? how to properly spin your figure? - I would appreciate a video of Spinjitzu gameplay, if it's possible for someone to make one. thanks for your replies! (: have a nice day 9thDragonfly Edited January 9, 2011 by 9thDragonfly Quote
pompommini Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I don't own any but I would just cheat win by making a huge weapon out of bricks Quote
9thDragonfly Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 I don't own any but I would just cheat win by making a huge weapon out of bricks there are certain rules how to play; check them out here. anyways, thanks for your thoughts. (: so a big, sturdy weapon might actually increase your chance of hitting your opponents figure. but it can also be used against you by throwing your figure out of balance or used as a lever against your figure. Yes, but if you have 2 of the glaive/javelin that comes in the Dojo, you can use both, keep your balance, and smash the opponents. Otherwise, any pole weapon, especially double scythes, or staff, spear, maybe even the sword would work just as well, I think. NOTE: I haven't played (I only have one spinner ), but these ones make sense to me. Fighting at a distance is (probably) the key to winning. Also, get some good cards, and a good character, and that will help a lot. -Santhor, the Spinjitzu Master Quote

Niku Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I could say that cheap plastic is not an advantage when it comes to the legs of the minifigure on the base. Good luck. Quote
TWTaylor Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 - are there any tactics for the gameplay? like; wich weapons to choose are useful, wich not? how to properly spin your figure? There are a few things you can do, tactics wise, that can help. - Weapon choice. Soft weapons like the katana and the morning star are not as effectice as stiff ones, like the staff or the spear. The softer weapons 'give' a little on contact, and aren't as likely to knock your opponent off. - Where you hold your weapon. You have to set them up where they can contact the opposing minifig. Aside from that, you could hold it high or low. I recomend low, unless your opponent is holding some kind of force-shield card, in which case you want to raise it so that it strikes the minifig and not the bricks. There is a card that you can use to make them play with their fig bent over backwards, in which case you'd want to have it low as well. - My personal favorite weapon is the nunchucks, as it can actually wrap around you opponent and pull him off. - Pick your cards wisely. They have profound effects on gameplay. Personal favorites are the one that allows you to use two weapons (Power Up), that allows you to pick which weapon you forfeit (Hold Out), pick weapon your opponent forfeits (Pick and Choose)), and keeps your opponent from playing any cards (Card Freeze) - When you spin, keep your hand low on the spinner, so as to not hit your own weapons accidentally and knock your fig off balance. Those are my first thoughts. I'll try to think if there's anything else to add. Good Luck in the Tournament, Tom Quote
9thDragonfly Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 first to say, thanks for your many replies (: you really helped me alot. The spinner in the dojo is Chinese plastic. thanks, that's good to know. (: prevents me from spending money on that set. what's about the plastic of the Sensei Wu minifig? - My personal favorite weapon is the nunchucks, as it can actually wrap around you opponent and pull him off. that's sounds useful. could you make a video / picture of the nunchucks working? Qucik tip: Go to ninjago site, they have some great training videos there! ninjago site doesn't work for my country .-' thanks for your help! (: Quote
pompommini Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I could say that cheap plastic is not an advantage when it comes to the legs of the minifigure on the base. Good luck. you could always swap them for normal minifigure legs/hands Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) - My personal favorite weapon is the nunchucks, as it can actually wrap around you opponent and pull him off. my observations: The most dangerous weapons from the starter set are... The morgenstern and bone! Morgenstern maybe is rubbery but it hits hard (really!) and it sits very tight in minifig hand. The longer weapons add range but they influence the stability of disc too. And try to put your minifigs and their weapons in diferent positions. All this things influence your movement and how you hit. Two long weapons = almost win. And don't spin too hard! I noticed that many legs from my collections sits very loose in discs... Are the legs of ninjas/skeletons different than normal minifigs? I really don't know... And here is a Ninjago starter pack review + fights: Edited January 11, 2011 by Lordofdragonss Quote
