Locutis Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Hi everyone. I am in need of some windows and building "detail" parts to add details to some Modular building MOCs I have in my mind. The Tower Bridge includes over 4,000 pieces, and can be found for about $250. Do you think this set has a good value for the number and variety of pieces which could be used in a tan/grey MOC building? I like the design of the towers, and am considering a MOC building inspired by the towers and roofs themselves. What would you do? I need some windows, etc. anyway. Should I purchase a Tower Bridge and harvest the pieces, or should I just browse BrickLink, look for pieces that interest me, and buy just those pieces? I have about 3-4 MOC buildings I want to build, so I am going to need a large number of various pieces and bricks. I currently have 3x each of the Prince of Persia sets ripped apart and sorted, and a Grand Emporium pieced out. I also have 2x Winter Toy Shops and a Winter Bakery torn apart and sorted, and a 7778 Midi-Scale Millennium Falcon for some if its pieces. My street consists of a Cafe Corner, a Green Grocer, a Fire Brigade, and a Grand Emporium. I want to add a 32x32 baseplate building, and a couple or 3 16x32 baseplate buildings to my street. I have the option of ripping apart a Medieval Market Village and Fire Brigade, as I have an extra of each of those aside from the quantity I'm selling on Bricklink. Thanks for your opinion. Fuzzylegobricks Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I say go ahead and buy the tower bridge! Quote
buddy Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 The Tower Bridge does have a good variety and good quantity of pieces, some of which are rare. Also in 10214 there are 556 tan cheese slopes ! ~buddy~ Quote
cimddwc Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I'd buy it. Actually I bought it myself for just the same reason, so after building the bridge once, I took it apart a week later and used quite a lot of the parts to build my museum: But even though there are a few dozens of normal tan bricks in the set, I still needed many more for the walls... You should make a thread for that here on Eurobricks - not all of us explore Mocpages regularly. I've never seen it before and boy, oh boy have I missed out on something. Astonishing! Quote
wooootles Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 If you have the cash for it and think you can make a MOC out of it, buy it. It's what, 240 USD for 4200 pieces? That's amazing value, plus it has lots of tan---one of the best colors for MOC buildings especially when it's done big modular style. Quote

Well, I sold one of my Star Wars Sets (the X-Wing 7191) and the money is coming tomorrow, so I decided to order the Tower Bridge. Unfortunately, it's backordered until Feb 3 for shipping, now. I can't wait! I was sorting my pieces tonight to prepare for the additional building inventory. Quote
