2. I <3 Pink Floyd. 'Nuff said.

8. The name sounds familiar, but it doesn't ring a bell.

David Bowie is a musician known for being second to Frank Zappa in amount of genres. However, his best was his early Glam Rock from the 70's.

Genesis is Prog like Pink Floyd, however it's they're harder to get into.

10. Never heard of them, I might have to google 'em.

They were a more Pop-Prog band, known mostly for their novelty songs, like Goodbye Stranger, Breakfast in America, and Bloody Well right. Their a hard band not to like.

2. I'm now listening to Roundabout, and it's great! Thanks for the tip!

3. I never could get into Psychedelic bands. Don't really know why, I guess I'm more into 90's Grunge. Thanks for the links to the songs, they're both pretty good, actually.

4. Thanks for the link here, it sounds familiar now. Pretty good, I might have to look into that.

Well, since we're doing our Top Ten Rock bands, here's my list.

1. Three Days Grace. They're such a great band, and a recent discovery for me. My favorites include Pain, Goin' Down, and Gone Forever.

2. Breaking Benjamin. Another excellent band, my favorites include Blow Me Away and The Diary of Jane.

3. Muse. Oh, Muse. What would I do without you? These guys make so many soundtracks for my life... My favorites are Knights of Cydonia and Uprising.

4. Paramore. I'm so sad they're losing their guitar and drum players soon. :cry_sad:. They're expected to launch a new album soon, though! My favorite is Crushcrushcrush.

5. The Redjumpsuit Apparatus. Great band. Recent discovery. My favorites are Face Down and Your Guardian Angel.

6. Evanescence. Who doesn't love Evanescence? I love Amy Lee... She's such a great vocalist, I can sit and listen to her for hours. My favorites are Bring Me to Life and Sweet Sacrifice.

7. Bullet for My Valentine. Yup. They're pretty good, and their screamer isn't too bad. My favorite songs include Room 409 and 4 Words to Choke Upon.

8. Drowning Pool. I like their new stuff with the new lead singer, but not so much their old stuff (save for Bodies). My favorites are Enemy and 37 Stitches.

9. Shinedown. They may be a little lesser known, but they're still an amazing band. My favorites are What a Shame and The Crow and the Butterfly.

10. Skillet. They may be technically a 'Christian' band, but they don't really sound that Christian. My favorites are Monster and Hero.

Whew, that one took a while.

Is there any particular kind of rock or metal this topic discusses? Metal is an umbrella term, underneath the giant umbrella term rock. Rock in general is most of the music I like, and in just about any kind of rock. There are hundreds of rock bands that I like. As long as everyone's doing their top ten lists, might as well make mine.

1. Linkin Park: My favorite band of all time. I've been listening to them since 2001, when they're first album, Hybrid Theory was released. I guess I like all of their albums, but the first two were amazing while the fourth was disappointing. I would consider them Nu-Metal or rap-rock.

2. Three Days Grace: Great to listen to, love all three of their albums. Emo-metal.

3. Depeche Mode: Might be considered techno, but think of them as a hybrid between techno, pop, and rock. Very deep music, good for thinking.

4. Papa Roach: Well, their early albums. There's no way to justify how great they were. Were nu-metal/ rap-rock, now emo.

5. Red Hot Chilli Peppers: Do I need to explain this one? default_tong.gif

6. Nine Inch Nails: Techno-y rock. Deep lyrics. And they're original version of "Hurt" is so much better than Cash's cover.

7. System of A Down: Trailblazers for screamo. Some of their songs are a little too intense for me, but most are good jams. Serj Tankian's voice is just great.

8. Audioslave: This should be further up the list, but I'm too lazy to change the numbers. Chris Cornell's voice is absolutely amazing. Take him and put him with Rage Against the Machine (without Zach de la Rocha), and you've got an amazing alternative rock band.

9. Pink Floyd: Just got into them, actually. Nice, calm rock.

10. Muse

I like some of the others mentioned, too, like Evanescence and Oasis. However some bands that are incredibly famous, I don't like that much. Like Nirvana or Foo Fighters.

I also like all of those 90s grunge and post-grunge bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Counting Crows, Candlebox, REM, Sponge, etc., etc.

I like some of the others mentioned, too, like Evanescence and Oasis. However some bands that are incredibly famous, I don't like that much. Like Nirvana or Foo Fighters.

1. Oops, I meant to put them into my top ten. Oh well, you guys know I love 'em now.

2. Ah, glad to find a fellow listener of my favorite band. They may be emo-metal, but that's just what I like.

3. Never really heard of them, I might have to go youtube them.

4. I'm quite the opposite; I like their new stuff compared to their old stuff. Of course, it would appear that you don't really like emo stuff, whereas I do.

5. Nope, don't need to explain this one!.

6. I like them, too. Great band, and I couldn't agree with you more about Hurt.

7. Yeah, they're pretty intense. I like Down With the Sickness.

8. I've never heard of them either, but the way you make them sound makes me want to look them up.

9. I've already gone into Pink Floyd on this thread.

10. I like Muse, too. This may be odd, but I want Citizen Erased played at my funeral.

I love Evanescence and Oasis, but I have to agree with you on the ''Popular Band" thing. Personally, I like to listen to stuff that my friends don't, just to keep some sense of individuality.

? I think you're confusing Disturbed with SOAD. This is SOAD:

Meh, I used to like them, ive gone off of them.

I'll list some more bands and musicians I like.

Neil Young, especially Hey Hey, My My.

Manfred Mann's Earth band. Well, I only like their song

but the song is so epic it makes the band awesome!

Weezer

The Beach Boys

Jimi Hendrix

Rush

I'm really into the hardcore sub genre. Especially bands like A Day To Remember, Escape the Fate, Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack!, The Devil Wears overpriced rubbish, Miss May I, Abandon All Ships, In Fear and Faith, Sea of Treachery, and a few others.

Not sure how they influence my LEGO building, but I do listen to them all the time

I can't really make a top 10 list but here are some rock/metal bands I listen to: Rammstein, Marilyn Manson (his older stuff), SOAD, Three Days Grace, Slipknot.

They greatly influence my building.

Listening to Tankard right now. I am really eclectic, even tho I mainly listen to metal and punk. My current favourite bands include Alcest, Menhir, Mnemic, Dornenreich, Amon Amarth, Nile, Vader, Sodom, Necronomicon, Exhumer, Arkan, Arallu, Arkona, Asesino, Korpiklaani, Lykathea Aflame, Jig-ai, Discharge, Cirith Ungol, Cruachan, Kalmah, Klamydia, Exodus, Eluveitie, Finntroll, Kreator, Melechesh, Orphaned Land, Shaman, Sex Pistols, Disarm, Absurd, Svarstot, Warcry, Varg, Hordes of Yore, Theriomorphic, Moral Decay, The Retaliates... ok, a lot of bands, but what I currently have playing on my mp3  I'm also fond of portuguese punk bands like Ventas de Exterko or 69 Balls.

Aside from all these kinds of metal and punk, I'm also fond of celtic, middle eastern and general european folk, ambient and acoustic songs, blues, jazz, some old school rap, orchestral, pop... whatever my ears like.

Do post-rock and post-metal count in this thread?

I hope so! I'm a big post-hardcore fan! Isis, Neurosis, Transmission0, Year Of No Light...

I'm also a big black/death metal fan : Burzum, Immortal, Otargos, Nile, Supuration, Cannibal Corpse...

But I listen to pretty much every metal genre. I'm not a big rock/hard rock fan though... behalve for Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Muse and some others...

Do post-rock and post-metal count in this thread?

They should! Sólstafir, Pelican, and Neurosis are amazing.
