Ingrimm Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 (edited) Hello EB Members! I built a little MOC based on the children's song "Hänschen klein". The song's title can be translated as "Little Hans". I don't know if this song is internationally known, but in German speaking countries every child can sing it. In it's original version the song is about growing-up by leaving home and stand on one's own feet. Little Hans ventures to the world, leaving his crying mother behind and returns as a man. XimenaPaulina Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 A very touching and well-built vignette Ingrimm! The build clearly conveys the message of the song. Very good work! Quote
Sisco Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Very interesting MOC! Great story behind it as well. I love the uneven roof... And all the foliage... This is just great all around. Quote
ED-209 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Excellent work! I love the lush look of the plants, and I do remember the song from high school German classes! The only room I can see for improvement would be to give Hans black legs to match up the dungarees look with the torso? Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Excellent vig 'Ingrimm', is there an English version of the song ? Great greenery and nice little house too......keep on MOCing 'Ingrimm' ! Quote
Ingrimm Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Excellent vig 'Ingrimm', is there an English version of the song ? I couldn't find an english version. The only thing I've found is a translation of the newer version of this song. But in this version, the boy immediatly turns back home. Therefore the song has a total opposite ending... "Little Hans goes alone Out into the wide world. Looking great with stick and hat He is in good spirits. But his mother cries so much, For she no longer has little Hans. Thus the child changes its mind, Turning back home, swiftly." Quote

Aw, such a sweet nursery tune - thank you for sharing those lines of verse 'Ingrimm' and keep on MOCing ! Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I like the stone-work on the house but something that impressed me is that the window and the door match in color and it makes them "pop" more, so well done on that part! The roof is nicely done and of course grade A vegetation! Quote
Bingo Little Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 It looks awesome - great uneven roofing on the house, for example. Poor Hans. So young, and already he has chest hair Quote
Scop Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 My English is not the best, but I tried to translate the original text, ´cause I think a great MOC like this deserves that the background-story is known ;) Little Hans Went alone Out into the wide world Looking great with stick and hat He is in good spirits. But his mother wept very much, Little Hans has she now no more! "Wish you luck!" Tells her view, "Return back soon! " Seven years cloudy and clear Little Hans was in foreign lands. Then the child Remembers, Runs home quickly But now he no longer is a Little Hans. No, a Hans has he become. Tanned Forehead and hand. Will he be identified? One, two, three Are passing by, Don´t know who that might be. Sister says: "Whose face is this?" Doesn´t recognize the brother. Then dear mother comes, Looks him hardly in the eyes, Immediatly knows: "Hans, my son! God bless you, my son! " Quote

flavus Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Stock und Hut... Stick and hat... Wheres is his hat? Quote
Ingrimm Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Stock und Hut... Stick and hat... Wheres is his hat? "Stock und Hut steht ihm gut, ist gar wohlgemut." "Looking great with stick and hat, he is in good spirits." ... is only a metaphor for looking forward to and being ready for the journey ... Ahem... no seriously you got me, I didn't have a hat that I thought would fit the purpose. Quote
Enpaz Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 At first I thought this what about "Hänsel and Gretel" but I somewhat missed the gingerbread house so I checked the title again. It looks very nice nonetheless! I like the natural surroundings. Adios! Quote
shutinc Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 A very nice and touching vignette you've made. I've heard about the song before. I think there's a translated version in norwegian aswell. Anyways, you've put a lot of nice details into this and it looks very impressive. Great work! Quote
