KimT Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 Oh wow, that's one massive and amazing Endor diorama, I'm loving the progress so far! Mightily impressive work KimT and Morten! Really can't wait for the final product. Just curious thought, how are you gonna transport that diorama so huge? Or are you building it already in the place of the event? It can be taken apart into smaller modules. If I get the chance, I'll post pics of the setting up later. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Now that's a MOC 'KimT', 'Morten' did an excellent job ! AWESOME structure and fantastic Endor greenery too ! And the landing platform is very practical too.....doubling as a coffee table and a laundry folding table since it's next to a washing machine ! May the brick be with you ! Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Looks fantastic guys! Old grey huh? Impressive. I really like how the towers' supports look beefy. Gives the feel that this is one solid build. And from what I've seen so far, it is! Enjoy the show Morten! Quote
RCT3Dude96 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Simply outstanding! I can really see the love that's going into this creation! Keep up the great work! Quote
Legoman Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) First off, ...Wow. That is one absolutely stunning creation you've got coming along there guys. Excellent work You guys must have been collecting a heck of a long time to have that much old grey to use I see a 10030 UCS Star Destroyer in one of the pics. Did you guys buy that just for the Old-grey for this MOC? Does Morten have a good reason for not using Light Bluish Grey? I sure hope he does I think the AT-AT problem isn't too much of a biggy. I think the Idea of having somewhat uneven/raised ground (gradually build up plates as it gets closer) toward the platform would make it relitively un-noticable, and give it a very natural feeling. I'm absolutely loving the look of those leaves piled on the ground. Big shame they're so expensive on BL.. If you're needing another 1000 or so, that would set you back a bit None the less, this is one incredible MOC, I look forward to seeing progress, keep it up And good luck with number 3! KimT Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 Yeah Morten's been pillaging his older sets to free more old grey. That's hard for the UCS ISD and several other sets. I think he's also scrapped two old AT-AT's in the process I've supplied the old grey parts I have, but he hasn't really used any of them yet. He's been buying old grey through Bricklink ever since they (TLG) switched to bluish grey parts. And no, I doubt he'll be building in blush grey anytime soon Don't ask me why - it's something about preferance The idea on raising the ground level towards the towers is one of our solutions for making the AT-AT's look better in size compared to the loading walkways. Now all I have to do is persuade my wife that it'll be ok for her that I leave her alone with our less than 48 hours old newborn daughter while I visit Morten to aid him. (not going to happen ) Quote

Brickdoctor Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 48 hours old newborn daughter Congratulations! Quote
KimT Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 Congrats on the newborn! Congratulations! Thanks. Quote
Future74 Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Congrats KimT on the birth of your daughter! Your third already? Hope the wife and child are alright. Enjoy! And... Breathtaking MOC by you and Morten which definitly fits with the USC Imperial Shuttle I wonder if the Dark Lord will use the shuttle to fly to take Luke to the Death Star or that pack of milk Quote
JimBee Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Wow, looks great Morten and KimT. The bunker/ platform is huge, and the greenery is good. I really like those trees that use the spikey palm leaves. Only thing and I think you said you were going to do this, is like you always say - needs leveling/ landscaping. Congrats on the baby, by the way. Quote
Lloyd the Master Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Awesome job guys! You did great with details of the foliage and the platform as well. A little empty spaces every once in a while are ok, no harm done. Depicting the scene isn't a problem for you when you have this at your disposal. Again, nice work to the both of you! ~~Lloyd Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 That looks amazing! Great work. You are definitely going to need some super-fertilizer for the trees, though. As everyone else pointed out, the AT-AT is just a little bit too short. But there are trees on Endor that are twice as tall as the landing platform, as seen in this shot: Quote
ACPin Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 That shot also shows what I thought all along, the two bottom columns need to be longer compared to the upper supports beneath the landing pad. Which also means bigger AT-ATs! If you only lived close by, I would have lent my greens to this project. Congrats also on your newborn! AC Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 That shot also shows what I thought all along, the two bottom columns need to be longer compared to the upper supports beneath the landing pad. Which also means bigger AT-ATs! The AT-AT's do need to be bigger, but I'm not sure how consistent these shots are. The Endor Platform only exists as matte paintings, so there's no definitive studio model or set. Quote
Lord Starkiller Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Lol, baldie...... Anywayz, nice AT-AT, epic trees....... Overall, 9/10! Quote

Stardusty Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Holy 'MEGA BLOKS'! To bad you can't make larger AT-AT and trees. Anyway, it's huge and amazing. Quote
Sir von Lego Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Hi, Nice try doing Endor. I think (of course) that I did it better...(-; Take a Look to my brickshelf-Gallery. Greyhound. Hendrik Quote

Hendrik I'll ignore the total lack of modesty in this post, But even with that, I still beg to differ. Although Your MOC was Obviously HUGE and very time consuming, I personally feel that this MOC is actully of higher quality and design. Don't mean to put down your MOC at all, But thought I would put out there the idea that Size isn't everything. This MOC is incredibly sleek and has an effect That I personally feel yours just didn't have on me. So I wouldn't get too proud mate, as much as your MOC was incredible Quote

I think this is utterly amazing, the interior design is not inaccurate in any way, shape, or form. It's made entirely of Grey. The design is amazing, and the makers posses some modesty I too, prefer this one. Quote
Morten Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Thanks for all the comments. Will not post pictures untill after LEGOWorld 2011, next week. The status at this time is that the platform is done, offcourse it could allways be more more accurate. I had a plan with some light-up stuff in it, but did not have the time, hope to add that later. We are working on the green stuff, and that is very difficult. Like KimT wrote we used up all the green in very few baseplates, and the people arranging LEGOWorld asked me to do 3 x 12 baseplates and not 3 x 7 which was my plan originally, so that is a challenge. What I would have love to have done was something like this: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4571727 That is great endor work, but it takes so many treeleaves etc so that is not an option right now. Looking forward to post pictures. Morten Quote

Hendrik Coming in to someone's thread to promote your own MOC is extremely rude. This is their thread, let's keep the comments on this MOC only. Quote
