Attention, prospective LDD RCB participants!

There are now fewer than five spots remaining.

So if you want to sign up but have been waiting, I'd encourage you to do so now. :classic:

I finally got Universe working, so count me in.

PM, please. :classic:

Otherwise you don't get to request a spot.

EDIT: Sign-ups are now closed!

CallMePIe and efullner, you guys are signed up, but I need a PM by the 22nd if you want to request a spot.

Can I please JOIN for RESERVES!

Yeah, sure. No reason to PM since you aren't going to get one of the numbered spots and Reserves order is based on the order of sign up, unless you want to discuss the build privately.

I was just wondering.

The houses dimensions are clear, 14x8 base, but what about outdoors?

I could see a tavern having an awning and a couple of tables and chairs 'on the patio'.

For that matter, what about the actual street?

And what about 'jokes' aswel as inside jokes as outdoors...

Like... ehm.. for example..

Heads mounted on the wall, a moose's head, a tiger's head, an antilope's head, an Imperial Stormtroopers head.......

Outdoors, any overhang that is not part of a floor (e.g, you can't hang the second floor 20 studs off the edge, but awnings, signs, etc. are fine) is fine; a porch wouldn't really fit in with a Medieval Village, but the tables and chairs can be placed on the baseplate.

If you can build them to scale and legally attach them, moose heads are fine, tiger heads are fine, antelope heads are fine, Stormies don't exist in the Castle theme so they're not fine.

We aren't just going to build 10193 five or six times. Each building should be unique, with a practical purpose. We can have a mill, a cobbler, a church, a dedicated tavern, a military barracks... just keep any buildings within the size guidelines. Other things like fences, farms, trees, roads, etc. are up to you, just remember that the buildings are the focus of this RCB.

So no robot head hidden inside a helmet, it's gotta be 'pure', gotcha :P

A couple of chairs and an old man on a rocking chair smoking a pipe is ok though, just without the shotgun (just kidding) ;)

and i meant 'on the patio' a a figure of speech, porch as you call it.

Non-native English typer here, don't hold it against me

I'm in the reserves anyway, but i'm a stickler for details

Correct, and yes. You could give the old man a crossbow, though. Maybe he's a former knight.

So this 14x8 guideline is for each half, considering there are two halves that fold together, right?

Yes, although the buildings aren't going to be folded together (and don't necessarily have to be connected or hinged either). The idea of this build is that it'll have two sides: A street side and a back side that's a cutaway of all the buildings. Should the builders decide to build a square or the like, the inner side would be the street and the outer side would be the cutaway.

1 last comment in general before i hit the sack (past 03:20 here :P).

The 250 brick limit, for a max of 5000 bricks for the entire thing.

I haven't got the foggiest idea of the limit to as what people can build these days in LDD, but i can go upto 20.000 bricks before i start to worry, 25.000 before i really worry.

It might be, and this is just an idea, usefull to know what people can do before setting a brick limit.

If you got 20 people that can go upto 10.000 bricks for a model without problems, you can set the limit at 500 bricks per person.

Or 20 that can do 20.000 set the limit to 1000 per person

If you got 15 that can go to 20.000 and 5 that can do 5000, set the limit to 250.

Average it out to the one whith the lowest specs as it were.

Just a thought (from an incorrigble large model builder)

I though about that, and my computer would certainly handle said 20,000-piece model, but there are plenty of people here who don't have powerful computers. For a traditional Community Build, where everyone sends in a model and one builder pieces it all together, that would work as long as said one person has a powerful computer, but for these RCBs it's too much hassle.

And actually, the limit for the first RCB was 150 pieces, so this is a 100-piece upgrade.

A question about the "you can't change previous builder's work" rule, could I change a 1x1 brick into a headlight brick so that I could put vines through the building?

Why would you want vines through a building?

Anyways, the rules say if absolutely necessary, you may change up to 10 bricks. Although whatever you plan to do with the vine doesn't count as absolutely necessary. This exception is for, say, getting a second floor to line up, or allowing a door to open. For fitting, not detailing. If the previous builder had wanted vines, he would've made it possible.

First post updated. Check there or your PM box to see who's where. Building will start in five days. (January 28th)

Tip for all builders:

Make sure everything fits, without random spaces. This is what happened with the last RCB. There were a lot awkward gaps in the floor by the time my turn rolled around.

Don't make uneven lengths and such (i.e. don't make something 5 or 7 wide, when it would be more practical being 4 or 6 wide  )

Well I am personally ready to rumble but what about everyone else?

What are you early builders gonna start doing, anything in particular?

KingoftheZempk is first, so I PMed him asking when would be a good time to start since I know he was participating in Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum which is just winding down. He mentioned that the weekend is a good time, so I decided that five days from sign-ups closing was a nice round number and it gave me a chance to get everything finalized.

Video is not available in my country because it contains content from Sony Musical Entertainment. Wierd. My country is the US, and people pirate stuff and stick it on YouTube all the time which I can see.

Then i'll just sing

* deep manly voice *

I'm so excited,

And I just can't hide it.

I'm about to lose control,

And I think I like it.
