Brickdoctor Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 EDIT: I see that an update has been added the Brickshelf folder with the RCB files. Here are my corrections: [snip] Didn't see this before I updated. Okay, I'll work on those corrections and the PM will go out tomorrow, hopefully. Quote
Zeya Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Oh I'm sorry. I tried to be as careful as I could, but I still screwed up. I can fix the problems on Monday (busy this weekend) or our moderators can fix it. I'm fine with most of those color changes proposed. I'll have to look up the nougat brick that was mentioned; that sounds like the only issue that bugs me... Sorry again. Quote

legolijntje Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Until now the model looks very good , but I think the next builders better can make the other side of the street. Otherwise it's going to be very long (10 builders). Quote
Zeya Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I'd appreciate it if you could make those changes and PM the file to me. I've fixed the color problems. You have been PM'd. Here are my corrections: [snip!] There were a lot of errors here, but to my surprise some obscure colors like 101 Medium Red were used correctly. Perhaps the builder accidentally looked at the "On Wanted Lists" column of Bricklink instead of the "Known Colors" column? Or perhaps some of the colors were misinterpreted from their visual appearance in instruction booklets, scans, or photographs? In any event, the builder of this latest section did a very good job, and I'm sure these small errors can be fixed fairly easily. Thank you for taking the time to find all those errors. Do you use one of those programs like LDD Manager to find the color problems? As for how I made my color mistakes, I guess I dipped into Universe mode and got a little too paint-happy. For some things like the modified 1x1 piece with the clip, I just assumed that was so common it must have been in reddish brown somewhere. And I think in some cases I realized later on that I was in fact accidentally looking at the wrong color column on BL. Once again I apologize for the hold-up. Time for builder #10's turn! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 22, 2011 Author Posted February 22, 2011 I've fixed the color problems. You have been PM'd. Thanks! Post should be updated. Once again I apologize for the hold-up. No need! You're the first builder to fix his own errors. Quote
The Undo Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 The village is looking great. I just have an observation that somebody should put a chimney on bakery. Quote
Swiss Army Droid Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Hey, I have a question. Am I supposed to be building now, or has "wmanidi" just not finished yet? Its been a couple days now and I haven't gotten my PM message or seen any updates on this thread. It seems like the three days of building is up. I'm not trying to be a pain, I just want to know what the deal is. The model looks great so far! Swiss Army Droid Quote

We're checking wmanidi's model now, and I should be able to shoot you your PM by Monday, latest. Again, sorry for the delay. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 come on come on :P I just realized the reason behind that comment.I haven't updated the first post for three turns. Apologies, spectators, rest assured the build is moving smoothly and Turn 13 should begin shortly. Quote
Piratedave84 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 The build is coming along great!!! I really like the feel it has, feels real medieval!!! Keep it up, I can't wait to see the end product! Pirate Quote
alienwar9 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Hope everyone likes the church Just sent Brickdoctor my turn. This street is looking great! Anyone planning on the other side of the street? Edit: maybe I am Edited March 9, 2011 by alienwar9 Quote
Zeya Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I don't know if we should do another side of the street. It would be awkward trying to post a screenshot of our final build when we are done. If the buildings continue to be open-backed it might look weird, and buildings would end up blocking the view of other buildings from almost any angle. Maybe as a final step, someone could rearrange the buildings in a cul-de-sac / semi-circle? Quote

I was thinking the other street should have been perpendicular to the current one, so that there'd be at least one angle to screenshot from where we only see the fronts of buildings. Perhaps a future builder could expand the church to move its back to face a different direction. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 First post updated for those of you who are looking for the file with the other side of the street we've been talking about. Quote
BasOne Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 A couple of observations, not realy critisismsmsmsms (i hate that word) Buuuut: 1. i think the street is to small, especially with a church, see point 2 2. this built, or rather the size constrictions lend itself better to a small chapel, see point 3 3. A church or chapel would be a lot bigger then the surrounding buildings, see point 4 4. A church or chapel is the centerpoint of every midevil village, it would not be in a market street, but the market streets would be around the church. In all it looks great though, kudo's to all to get it looking this good Quote

alienwar9 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) yeah, I really was iffy on building the church (initially was just going to build a small barracks, but thought it was too boring). The size constraints made me really think twice, but then I just figured it as a challenge and decided it could be a stylized church to fit the street (its sort of stylized anyway, with back opened buildings right?...right?) I also wasn't sure where to place it, and changed it myself, so I'm perfectly ok if someone wants to move the whole thing (unless that goes against the rules ). or just turn it 90 degrees, make that perpendicular street. Sorry if I unbalanced the artistic flow, hope it still works out Edited March 11, 2011 by alienwar9 Quote
