Excellent job everyone! I think this one was more successful than the first RCB. Here's to another! :sweet:

I wouldn't say more successful. It did turn out bigger, but giving everyone an extra 150 pieces will do that.

Well Done Everybody. I am really pleased with the final model and everyone really played their part by contributing so much.

Congratulations, Give yourselves a pat on the back

Absolutely Amazing! :cry_happy:

I love how you finished it off with the river; it really brings the whole build together. Everyone did an outstanding job making the RCB a thing of beauty.

I can only imagine what will come next....

Awesome! It really looks great. I like how everybody couldn't resist adding minifigures.

>Please try to keep landscaping down to a minimum. A couple trees and possibly a river with bridge are acceptable, but the focus of this model is the village street itself.

It's funny how we have exactly two trees and a bridge, most of which was done by Brickdoctor in the last turn. And he's the one who wrote that rule!

I kinda wanted to break up the monotony of the all-grey road (if I had a choice, I would've required everyone to do a cobblestone road, but then the only person who could open the file would be alienwar  ), and I wanted to add a river for Zblj's water wheel. Besides, I stayed within the bounds of that rule.

Hosting and RCB is like (what I hear) hosting a Mafia Game - once you do it the first time, you want to keep doing it. I'm chock full of ideas for a 3rd RCB, but I'll let someone else have a go.

We could make an idea and voting thread. The first phase would be RCB proposal (keeping it short) and then in the second phase we would add a poll and let everyone vote for which idea to go with.

That's an idea. My original idea when conceiving the plan for this RCB was that we started with Town, so I wanted to cover the other three Classic Themes. (Castle, Pirates, Space) Since we modeled the Town RCB after a set (modular sets), I went with a similar plan for this one, which was to use the format of the MMV. Space and Pirates are pretty hard, though, since they're vehicle-based themes, and even though Pirates has buildings, they're forts and the like that use lots of pieces and are standalone buildings. A port might work. Edited by Brickdoctor

I still think a good RCB idea would be to do one purely with DesignByMe mode. I personally sometimes find a limited parts palette inspiring. It would prevent errors (which would be nice, because error-checking is tedious) and would make all the parts current and readily available, so that we could more easily build it in real life after we've finished with it on LDD. Still, the last time I suggested that nobody seemed to like the idea-- I guess people just get more fun out of using parts on LDD that they aren't as likely to have in real life.

When another RCB comes along, I suppose I can still do error-checking. After all, I'm probably the one here who's most bothered by color and part errors, so I can't easily refuse and still get the same pleasure out of seeing the model progress. Speaking of which, great work on this one, everybody!

We could add the restriction that you can't use Universe mode (or whatever it's called now). It would be a RCB where the final result is purchasable from DesignByMe. It would be fun to see what happens and how much it would cost.

I personally would rather just stick to full MOCcing in Universe mode. :) I feel bad about Aanchir and his self-inflicted color checking duties.

LOL don't feel bad about me. One reason I do it is because I hope people will be able to learn from their mistakes and eventually master the LEGO color palette. Admittedly, that's a bit difficult when I do the corrections privately by PM, but apparently people don't like it when my corrections take up a large portion of a topic. But as long as I convince myself that I'm doing this for other peoples' benefit, I'm able to cope with the extra responsibility.

That's another reason I'd love a DbM-based contest, or even just a LEGO Universe-based one (as opposed to LDD Extended). Both of those modes use current or future colors only, and thus it would be much easier for people using those modes to get used to the color names. And that's the first step to learning how to distinguish current colors from older colors or obscure alternate versions of colors.

I think the idea could be good. A lot of times limitations result in a better end product.

Another idea could be one that has no restrictions whatsoever - build with whatever piece you want in whatever color you want and attach it any way you want so long as LDD accepts it. Sure, it'd drive Aanchir nuts, but it could result in some really nice models.

Or we could do a plain Community Build, where everyone can build on a certain amount of space and then send it to someone with a computer than handles nice big models *cough*this means you, alienwar*cough*. That would allow us to go really big.

Or a relay build based on the TwinLUG Micropolis standard.

Excellent job everybody! I've been keenly watching the progress of this community build and I'm very happy to see the wonderful finished product. Special kudos to Brickdoctor for doing a superb job organizing this successful 2nd EB RCB. I've rightfully added this to our LXF Index. Again, great job by every participant. <a round of virtual applause>

A tiny, small question - is there any chance that the MOC could be slightly re-arranged to make it into a square with a village main road feel? Could for example the archery be moved in between the stables and the watermill. It would make it look better when frontpaged

I made a proposal below. What do you say Brickdoctor - would that be and acceptable mod to make into the final version?

Good call Superkalle, that layout indeed does look more organized (and more presentable for frontpage).

No, actually I wouldn't really mind a "no restrictions" RCB. I myself prefer building with parts in existing colors, but of course I don't tend to participate in these anyway (next time perhaps I should). Color confusion only tends to bother me when it's genuinely somebody not knowing the difference between colors-- when arbitrary colors are a stylistic decision it's perfectly tolerable for me (although some people tend to go a bit crazy with metallic colors and thus ruin the impact those colors would have had as mere accents).

I have 20 these bricks for all the participants of the RCB2 (plus one for Aanchir). I got them specially for the purpose of giving out to us hardcorde LDD fans, and this seems like a perfect time.

I need someone to volonteer to gather the physcial adresses of everyone of the 20+1 that wants one, and then mail to them. Your postage costs will be covered by EB. You need either a PayPal or and IBAN number (within EU) to receive the compensation for postage.

So basically the process is like this

1) I send all 21 bricks to a volonteer

2) That persons requests a PM from RCB particpants with their adress (if they want one)

3) The voloneer sends out the bricks

4) The voloneet gets compensated from EB for postage

5) Happy times

@ Superkalle: I can be your volunteer. There is a U.S. Postal Service outlet 1 mile away from where I work, and it's not too busy. I've sent and received packages from all over the world. :classic:

The finished RCB looks really fantastic! Well done to all the participants and Brickdoctor for hosting it!

Congrats on your rather unique rewards also!

My computer won't handle all those bricks, but from what I can see, the finished model looks great! Thank you guys so much for allowing me to participate. I know I'll get a pm, but I'd love a brick. Congrats to all for finishing the build!
