bord4kop Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) Is this some sort of joke? The poster bumped a 7 day old thread about one of the most anticipated soon to be released sets in Lego technic history and you come at him with this threat? Bumping certain threads like this one are excellent ways to keep new threads for upcoming releases from popping up, thus having to delete or combine them. I could see there being an issue if someone was bumping up one of their own threads about a model that they built from a month ago, but this is certainly a different matter altogether. I am glad that this poster bumped this up, because there were quite a few new points brought up about the new set that i was unaware of since last time I logged in. The note was done by a moderator, so it aint no joke I think the post was because the poster had two posts after another (1 day between em) with nothing much noteworthy. Second to that; there was nothing new to say about the set. At least when one is following the topic (see above for how 's and do 's). If I don 't log on to the forum for several days, weeks, months, etc. there is always tons of new material Me too, I figured it was a strange, unnecessary bump. If there is something new to mention, it will be in the topic in a flash! Well, that is to say; it was every time something new came up, that is.. And I am sure the people who ordered it will look the topic up from whatever depths it has gone and revive it in a hurry with good material and perhaps pictures too.. They want to be first to show of their 8110 I 'm sure! (I would ) Edited May 13, 2011 by bord4kop Quote

legolijntje Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Strange discussion... Got my copy in pre-order now! Delivery on july 30th Cant wait to get my hands on this Unimog. Where do you pre-ordered it? Quote
chaosof99 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 While I also don't like unnecessary bumps, particularly without any additional contents, I think this thread is one that should be stickied. Quote
AndroTech Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Hello. HERE are some new information about 8110 Unimog on French Amazon site. It has 2051 pieces, and weights 3,3 kg. The price is 181,80 EUR. Quote
marcusi Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 A swedish store published this image, which looks like the official box that it will come in. If so, the set will have 2048 pieces. Quote

DLuders Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Yes, one will have to download the 8110-2 (B-model) instructions. From TheScooterGuy's Brickshelf gallery, one can see "Download Building Instructios" on the top-center of the backside of the box: Quote
marcusi Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Well the store also posted this image and said you can rebuild the crane and winch into a big snow plow. Maybe this is the "B-model". Edit: DLuders beat me to it :) Edited May 15, 2011 by marcusi Quote
Traktor Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) We have known that for a while already. I'am really looking forward to this one, hope it will be aviable when I'am in USA this summer. Lego is really expesive here in Norway. Edited May 15, 2011 by Traktor Quote

dbostream Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I love big sets but unfortunately I don't find the model itself very interesting; perhaps a review will change that. Quote

Lego is really expesive here in Norway. Can't you mailorder it from an online retailer outside your country? Is the lego online shop having the same expensive prices for you as the Norwegian stores? I love big sets but unfortunately I don't find the model itself very interesting; perhaps a review will change that. How come? I mean it's the first time a set comes with a compressor in 18 years, only the second time this has ever happened, and the modular building capabilities of multiple function take-offs on either end of the main vehicle should make for some fun MOCs for simply creating "add-ons" to it, if you are so inclined. AndroTech Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Hello. I gathered together some of new pictures of 8110 Unimog and also the B model. Quote
Traktor Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Can't you mailorder it from an online retailer outside your country? Is the lego online shop having the same expensive prices for you as the Norwegian stores? Well, I could order it from amazon.us for example, but in Norway we haw to pay 25% tax to the state for everything bought from abroad that costs more than 200 kr (35 dollar). So in the end it does not really get any cheaper. And the Norwegian lego online shop almost is more expensive than the regular shops. Thats way I hope I can bring one home from USA, but unfortunately I think it is realised later there than in Europe. I'am really considering to buy two, so I can attach both the plow and the crane to one of them at the same time. But whit that price, 181 Euro at the Frenc amazon store, it will probably cost about 1600 kr (290 dollar) in Norway. Lego is an expensive hobby. Edited May 15, 2011 by Traktor Quote
Erik Leppen Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I love big sets but unfortunately I don't find the model itself very interesting; perhaps a review will change that. Actually, I'm not really a fan of the chosen subject matter. I think the set will be magnificent, it's just that Unimogs aren't my taste of things. But I'm determined to get this no matter what, because it looks like a very interesting build and has great parts (wheels, orange) and I'm just curious as to what's inside. Quote

Those are my thoughts exactly and it will most likely be too expensive for me. Depending on reviews and what is released early 2012 I might pick it up at some later point in time. Atm I believe the 8109 fits my taste and wallet better. Quote
Yendred Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I love big sets +1 but unfortunately I don't find the model itself very interesting; +1 perhaps a review will change that. +1 ;-) Quote
dr_spock Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I like big sets too. But it seems the bigger set, the bigger the hit on the wallet. When's that income tax refund cheque going to arrive? Quote
Shasat Spacerider Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 (edited) From the box image, it is obvious that this here babe has portal axles. Just take a closer look at the rear wheel. Now all we need is some hi-res pictures and more shots (underside please!!!), and then we'll be happy. Edit: Oh wait, we won't be happy until each one of us has a copy! davidmull Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 It's nice to see great new pictures,I wonder will it take much to fully rc this model! Quote
Traktor Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 To fully rc the unimog will be a lot of work because of the pneumatic switches. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) It's nice to see great new pictures,I wonder will it take much to fully rc this model! Both me and Allanp have made pneumatic switches for power funtions, mine need a wee bit more done to them but it is possible to do it it all depends on how much room there is to fit switches in to it. Oh i am building something for you davidmull also,so look out (it will be after allanp's thing) Edited May 19, 2011 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
