Somehow I doubt someone who's never sceane Star Wars would know what very much is, besides maybe some of the big cast like- for example- Vader or Yoda. Granted, those are both OT charecters.

Well there aren't very many people who don't know what an X-wing is.

Not really. The Podrace was rememberable, but not iconic. If you pull a person who's never really seen Star Wars off the street and show him the Podrace, he'll say it's sci-fi or he might ask if it's Star Wars. But show the same person the DS trench run and he'll see the X-wings and TIEs and say, 'That's Star Wars.'

I'm not sure whether that would be strange taking time and the period of the movies in consideration. Remember that the OT was made many decades ago, in a time that didn't feature a sci-fi blockbuster every month (or even more frequently) unlike the world we live in now. As well as the fact that it's so classic and returns on tv every single year making it hard for people not to have seen it(if you seen something a few times you know what it is) PT hasn't really been around that long and I agree may not reach the legendary status of the OT but it's still an unfair comparison.

Besides there are actually people that have no clue what the Death Star/tie fighter/x-wing is or can't place a name on it. Believe it or not, I honestly think I could find a decent number actually.

Oh I agree. Actually, doesn't Spike broadcast the whole saga every few months or something? (no cable here, but I hear about those marathons a lot)

And I'll bet you can find more people who don't know what a Vulptereen 327 is than those who don't know what an X-wing is.

*Confused by Brickdoctor's statement*

*Types 'Vulptereen 327" into Google*

*Clicks on Wookieepedia link*

"Eh? When was that in the movie? And who the heck is Dud Bolt?"

Point proven.

 Actually I myself don't remember that Nut Bolt guy, but I remember the pod because it was one of two pods named in TPM. (the other was the Volvec KT-9 Wasp)

I confess, I googled it too. Oh sure, I recognized the podracer, but I had no clue about the name. I started to wonder if maybe my name should be Dud Bolt... nah, it is an obscure reference, after all.

But aren't you alredy a Q7-series astromech droid?

Yeah, that's funny... actually, I was going to ask you if I could use that pic you made of one for my avatar. Instead of Dud Bolt, I guess I'd be Dud Sphere. Sorry, that's not very funny.

I thought the consensus was that I took terrible pictures?

I'll take a bigger picture and upload it so you can use it. Eventually...

I don't have a problem with your pics. It's your MOC's... just kidding. I'll send you some cake with liver for the use of the pic. And I nice chianti.

Silence of the Lambs reference. Sorry.

Re: Your last x-wing, liked it. I don't like the 1x2's for the flashback suppressors, but other than that I thought is was good. I wish we had a section where we could keep current MOC's from the OT, for continued review, reference, etc. Like a reference library, as opposed to just an index of MOC's.

But since none of this has anything to do with CW, I guess I digress too much.

That could be a great resource. You could PM KimT asking about it. Kinda like the Set Index, although that would take time to set up. For now I just use the search tools.

Since we're showing our OT colors here, maybe this does fit in the current topic! I'm going to ask an OT question in the SW topic before we get yelled at in this one.

However, that'll likely be because I got TPM on DVD a few months ago...

There we go. See, the thing is, I can't remember the last time I saw that movie. I think it may have been sometime last June. On the other hand, I remember having watched Zev Senesca's T-47 become cannon fodder only yesterday...

I think this might be more a question of age. Those who were kids, and were blown away by ANH in theatres, and camped outside the ticket booths for the premiere of ESB, then through a ROTJ party which was reported to the police by the neigfhbors-OT fans. The twenty year-old who saw TPM, AOTC, and then ROTS in theatre-PT/maybe CW fan.

I don't think it's fact, or reasoning, that tells what is the best addition to the Star Wars universe, we all have that part of Star Wars that we latched onto. For me it's ROTS, I love all the ships, the movie itself, and so many things to MOC with lego. I Love the phase 2 clones. Thats my reason, for brickdoctor it's the poetic ending. Those who like the TV show, must like it for the action, or the weekly episode, I don't know. But I do know that I love Star Wars, enough said.

I saw EP 1 and 2 yesterday for the second time ever, and they were alright (even Jar-Jar was bearable, I guess I was in the mood); about as interesting as the first 3 movies, which I've also seen like two times each. I could have done without podracing, I spaced out for a while. I like racing (like drag racing and hot rods, not nascar) but I wanted to see more story, not more vrooming.

Clone Wars I didn't start watching til like last month, and have since seen all the episodes, it's definitely more entertaining than the movies, though I suspect it's mostly because I like animated stuff. Seeing people jump around in live action movies always looks kinda cheesy, like The Matrix, ew. But SW movie fighting is definitely not as cheesy as The Matrix fights.

The Clone Wars movie was meh, but for some reason when a cartoon gets a movie made it's always kinda lame. Why is that? They add bad jokes, unnecessary dialogue, cheap comebacks, why? Why not just make a good movie instead of falling back on the same tired gags? Because kids love it, that's why. Darn kids! *shakes fist* I must have rolled my eyes at least 10 times while watching it, I don't remember being that annoyed while watching any of the episodes. (I did do it for the recent episode though, but I think it was more because I really really really wanted that giant cube/diamond/rhombus to be full of Borg!)

I don't know what you guys mean when you say CW is a giant ad for the toys. I understand that's one of its purposes, but I don't feel like anything is being sold to me. Then again, I don't watch commercials because I watch it all online, are the ads bugging you? I want to get some of the toys, but that's because I like the alien designs, not because of advertising.

So in conclusion, to end my 5th-grade level essay  , I will say CW is about as interesting as the OT, probably because I have even exposure to everything.

Not sure what you're getting at with that pair of sentence fragments there. :sceptic:

for brickdoctor it's the poetic ending.

No, no it's not. I like the OT because it's realistic. Heck, if the OT ended with ESB, yes it wouldn't be as good a story, but at least I wouldn't have to deal with the Ewoks. Yes, the poetic ending makes it a complete story, and I think it's one of the major advantages the OT has over the PT, but it's not my personal reason.

Not that that does anything for the OT vs. PT debate, so I'll stop.

Remember OT ends the whole saga, not just the PT. You can't just watch the PT and be satisfied with the ending.

What's unrealistic about CW/ PT? Now I'm a PT fan, and how does it differentiate in terms of how realistic it is? I think a superlaser that blows up planets, People moving stuff without touching it(The force), and massive AT-ATs. Is just as 'unrealistic' as the PT.

What I always found artificial about the PT is the way emotions, especially love and hate, are expressed by the characters and the story. In that regard, the OT (and CW) is much more natural or credible.

That's just the sci-fi elements of the film. The OT has a boatload of emotional scenes. There are too many to mention but Binary sunset, Ben's death, The scene where he calls to Leia through the force, Both duels. 'You were right about me' yoda's death

Bad directing and most of the film was filmed in small green rooms. Hard to act against a ball on a pole.

(In the PT's defence it did have a few good emotional scenes, 'You were the chosen one' and...ermm..)

That was kinda my point.

But it's not like this is a six-part book. Because if it were a six-part book, then the OT wouldn't make sense without the PT. You can't pick up your average novel and read from the middle to the end and understand everything. But the OT isn't like that. It's a complete, self-contained story. It's like reading the New Testament and not the Old Testament. I can read from Matthew to Revelation and yes, some things might be a little ambiguous, but I get the story.

Anyways, the purpose of my post was that I was just saying that that wasn't my personal reason for liking the OT, even if it's a major advantage. Remember, I'm an OT fan.

Yeah, the way I see it is your SW universe, is your SW universe. Whatever you don't like/consider to be canon could be somebody else's passion. :classic:

It's space opera. It's not supposed to be realistic. If you want realistic go watch Star Trek or something.

I think Brickadeer hit it right on the nose. I mean...

"Hi! Your buddy here was about to be turned into orange goo. He picked a fight with a Dug. An especially dangerous Dug called Sebulba."

"We will find out who's trying to kill you Padme, I promise you."

"I'd rather dream of Padme. Just being around her again is... intoxicating."

"You have changed so much."

"You haven't changed a bit. You're exactly the way I

remember you in my dreams. I doubt if Naboo has changed

much either."

"It hasn't..."

"You are so... beautiful."

"It's only because I'm sooo in love."

"No, it's because I'm so in love with you."

"So love has blinded you?"

"Well, that's not exactly what I meant."

"But it's probably true."

Gaaahhh!

Yeah, the way I see it is your SW universe, is your SW universe. Whatever you don't like/consider to be canon could be somebody else's passion. :classic:

That's why we're trying to be civil here...
