Pinky Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 ###breaking news### This just in, westfields opens at 12:00 my bad other than that all head as normal Pinks Quote
AmperZand Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Thanks for the 'heads up', Pinky. Change of plan for me, then. I'll be there at 12.00 and can stay for an hour but won't be able to bring my big bag of bricks to trade, only a few bits and bobs. Sorry, folks. Amps Quote

Burgon Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Definitely Sunday? Ooh to not go into work or not! 12 midday on Sunday for a lovely Lego bus sounds rather tempting.. Quote
Miss Kyle Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Woah, I WANT that bus!! Will definitely buy something then :D And cheers for the update about the opening times. Thus we can sleep longer, woopwoop! See you guys tomorrow! Quote
NovaStar Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 As ever, watch out for the guy with pink hair :-) Quote
Miss Kyle Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 As ever, watch out for the guy with pink hair :-) Will do! And I'll definitely bring minifig doubles after buying a whole series 2 lot today, with four doubles. Quote
Burgon Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Any feedback on how quickly the 300 quota was filled up? I was planning on coming down to nab me a bus but if there is a slim to none chance it won't be worth the trek :( Quote
AmperZand Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) Burgon, They opened the doors (but didn't start selling) when I arrived before c.11.45am. Retrotecchie was already in the queue. They started selling at 12.00. By about 12.30, one of the employees outside the shop estimated they had served 125 people. I don't know whether that was 125 sales or just people entering the shop; I suspect the former. It seems that the vast majority (perhaps 95%) of people buying when we were in there were spending £20 or more each, so would have got the bus. Retrotecchie and I each got one. My guess is they probably ran out of buses at around 1.30pm, perhaps sooner. Nova, Pinky, SilentMode, retrotecchie, You can see a few of my 230 or so minifigures here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=182210 Miss Kyle, SlyOwl, Nice to meet you. Sorry I couldn't stay longer but I had to shoot off. We'll try to arrange next month's Swap/Meet the first weekend that Minifigures Series 4 is out. I intend to purchase a sealed box if I can. We'll then split the minifigures between us. Amps Edited February 27, 2011 by AmperZand Quote
Burgon Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) Thanks amperZand - I decided to brave it and got there about 1:20 and after a bit of queuing managed to nab myself one! Edited February 27, 2011 by Burgon Quote
SlyOwl Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 It was good to meet you all today (however fleetingly, in some cases!), much enjoyed Thanks for the trade, Silentmode, good to get myself some Ninja stuff at last! Pinky, here's some of those roofing techniques I was talking about... yes, a lot of amputee minifigs around the place... I managed to get myself a bus, and that must have been at around 2:30 - and they still had a fair few in the box then. I had planned to try and get the display model if they'd run out, but someone knocked it onto the floor, and that was the end of that! Elf-wise, I think I'll be able to manage - the Sainsbury's near me has plenty of S3, and there's a WHSmith and a toy shop if they don't have one - but thanks for the offer to look out Quote
SilentMode Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Thanks for the trades everybody, and glad I was able to provide something for everybody. Quote
Miss Kyle Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Morning everybody, it was great meeting you, even though I dropped in late and rushed off early (my bf and his cousin had discovered a Malaysian restaurant and were very hungry...). I really enjoyed the meetup, we had lots of fun and burst into giggles all the way to the food place - well done, Pinky. I hope I get to see you guys again soon! And thanks to SilentMode for the girl minifigs and Pinky for the Baseball player. I bought a Harry Potter Quidditch set and a PAB bucket, so I got the bus, too! It looks really nice. Quote
retrotecchie Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Moment of the day...Pinky sticking a red-brick 'willy' on the giant LEGO Policeman Minifig in Westfield and roaring with laughter as all the passers-by took photos!! Good to meet you all again....and for the latecomers - sorry that Amps and I had to shoot off early. Hope to catch up with you all again at the next Swap and Meet. Silentmode....cheers for the 1x1 window. Star! Quote
