ziljin Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I've just received about 30 used castle 'figs from an online purchase. Some have accessories, some don't. Used means a few have GLUE in their feet... and the remains of cardboard or a thin corkboard on the bottom of that (the pics failed to show that). At least it looks like HOT glue which should be relatively easy to remove given it's fairly soft as glues go once dried (and they are part of the 'rabble' anyways. It appears like it's only 2 with the glue so that'll be easy to deal with later. Five Black Falcons (with shields). Three Crusaders (Four shields). Five Dragon Masters (Two shields). Nine asst generic Armored torso's (though one is obviously Fright knight in origin). Two Orcs. One Fright Knight. Other Assorted rabble. In said rabble there is a Princess Storm Torso, the arms have been switched out at some point tho. Five black Bullet helms as well :) Not bad all at under $2.45 per 'fig on average (inc shipping). why were they glued? also those shields are like 50 cents to 1 dollar so great deal on those! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Ordered 4 Vikings and a few chain mails and a bull knight. These will be my first Vikings other than the series 4 CMF. I probably won't build a large army of Vikings, but I have been drawn to them recently for some reason. And I definitely will build up the Bulls more in the near future. Quote
Bearded Castle Guy Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 why were they glued? also those shields are like 50 cents to 1 dollar so great deal on those! It appears they were used as part of a diorama, since it's just glue where the bottom of the feet holes are, the Torso's and heads were removable just like normal. I am fairly pleased with the buy, if I get unlazy I may line them up for a photo, but that just may not happen We'll see how it goes. Oh, I also got a single Red lance, looking on Bricklink it was only in a single Oriental Expedition set 7414 (that set came with 2, they were used as part of the attachment for the cart the elephant pulled). Despite that they go cheaply, 1 cent or 2 cents on the bottom end prices, for new ones.... Quote
ziljin Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 AH I see. My two more evil dwarves! 3 now, only 97 more to go to get a sizable army! Quote
ziljin Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 My from a fellow youtuber. He sent me some shadow knights, lord vladek and king mathias and a horse barding/horse helmet and 4 black axes. Quote
Bearded Castle Guy Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 I just got a 1974 Value pack (containing Smugglers Hayride, StarQuest and FireCracker USA subsets). Box is a bit smushed and the seals open but before they took the photos I suspect it was MISB, the Instructions are just pristine looking like they've never even been unfolded. It's the way it was packed that leads to think that the box damage from packaging, no matter I don't usually buy sets for their boxes. I do plan on photographing the various sub bags as it's rare to be able to document bag details from a set this old. I also found a London Escape for $38.48 that will donate it's pieces to the med-evil collective pile of pieces(except the fleshie 'fig parts, those will be segregated due to lack of proper application). Hoboman Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Just picked up seven more Black Falcon from ebay. Quote
Niku Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Just picked up seven more Black Falcon from ebay. So it was you who beat me in the auction¡ Could´nt resist. Nice Falcons I also got one from a couple of old knights, and this weekend I got one viking and the hazmat guy, both from CMF. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Hoboman Nice find. I have been watching a lot of older factions on ebay, but have yet to bid on any of them. How many Falcons do you have? Quote
ziljin Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 nice catch hoboman. black falcons are so cool. Quote
Hoboman Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 How many Falcons do you have? The Black Falcons are my smallest faction right now. I have 12 counting these seven. I missed out on many of the older factions. So the cost often holds me back. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 No one has posted on here for a while! I finally found some dwarves from the CMF series 5. I now have 5 of them to ally with the new dragon knights since they have dragon wings on their torso. And then 2 gladiators that will probably become part of a barbarian horde of some sort. I probably will use a different helmet though for that setting. I love their swords though. Quote

Zeya Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) For just under $20USD, I got this eBay Lot. I think this was a reasonable price. But for future bidding, I would try and get more of a deal (like 3/4 of this price perhaps). It's 8 forestmen. There's the female with the green corset torso, the one with the open chest and gold pouch torso, three of the red showing, one with blue showing, and the forestman from series 1 of collectible minifigures. They all have a weapon and there are 3 of the shields with the stag on it. I also got another lot of 22 mixed minifigs and 38 accessories for $27USD. I probably overbid on this one. But there are 3 castle guys in there on the top row. They're probably "frankensteins". There are also some shields and castle weapons. Feel free to comment if you think I overbid or if there's something especially cool in there. Edited October 3, 2011 by Zeya Quote
llb Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 seems like a great deal on the forestmen - much cheaper than I've seen here in the UK Quote

The forest-woman alone costs a lot due to rarity. I'd say the savings you found on that deal covered the overbidding on the second auction. Unless you plan on using all those other characters for something, I would say it wasn't worth it. Now, counting the number of figures, yes it was a good deal, but the quality of the figures depending on what you are planning on doing with them may sway the cost over value. Good cost and even better value on the first auction, good cost and worse value on the second. My opinion only. I am no expert, but I do look at figures on bricklink almost daily so I can guesstimate most prices. I should start looking on ebay more for figure lots. I have noticed most things on ebay are way overpriced compared to bricklink, but you clearly got a better deal than expected. Way to go! Quote
Piranha Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) well today I finally decided to order MMV, as they say "better late than never" 1600 pieces for $100 is a steal nowadays and they are done in production only whats left is out there until it is sold out. Didn't want to miss this one. Onto the Joust Edited October 4, 2011 by Macoco Quote
Duck Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Just got the Blacksmiths from the Kingdoms range, top notch! Quote
Fives Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 This thursday I am planning on getting the Kingdoms King's Castle and Mill Village Raid. I'm getting myself ready to have a nice big collection when the Joust comes out. Quote

Mr. Elijah Timms Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Got the 7946 King's Castle for $60 USD at Barnes & Noble!! After seeing it the set for sale this week at Target USA for $79.99 USD, I was disappointed to learn that all of the Targets in my area were quickly sold out. This misfortune was actually a blessing in disguise, and with a little homework I was able to find a 40% Off Single Item coupon for B&N. Great deal, great castle! Can't wait to give it a build! Quote
Augen Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I had a bit of spending spree with the TRU and Argos 3 for 2 sales. I just finished building the 2507 Ninjago Fire Temple, which I was really impressed with. It a bargain at around £40 by the time you take off the discount and apply the discount from buy 3 for 2, and it comes with a lot of cool parts. Just finished building the 4183 PotC The Mill too, which is a great little set. The water wheel is particularly clever. Quote
Brinstar Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I just acquired the Kingdoms 7947 Prison Tower Rescue. Its nice to have an outpost for the Dragon Knights and it makes a decent counterpart to the 7946 Kings Castle. Quote
