Hive Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Very jealious of that buy, great find for you :) Indeed, if I stumbled across that set at that price, I'd buy my third copy of that set without blinking! Quote
Brinstar Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) While everyone else goes mad over LOTR I continue my efforts to acquire fantasy era sets that I missed out on between 2007-9. This time I got a misb copy of probably my most wanted set from that series, 7036 Dwarves Mine. I probably paid a little more than I would have liked but it was worth it to get a sealed copy, which are few and far between nowadays. Having built the set this morning I definitely haven't been disappointed. Its a wonderful model with lots of little details and features, for a set that originally retailed £40, it has a lot going on with the mine cart, catapult and crane. The Dwarf figures are are also outstanding and some of my favorite castle figures. Until the arrival of the Orc Forge it was the only castle themed mine and in my opinion is a vastly superior model to the LOTR set. In short, very happy with the purchase and the fantasy era is rapidly supplanting Kingdoms as my favorite Castle subtheme Edited August 4, 2012 by Brinstar Quote
Pastajensen Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) I just bought 7189 Mill Village Raid for only 23,99 €. A shop near me offered it for 29,99 € and I had a coupon so I get it for this really nice price. Ah, may I ask where in Austria was that? That was a really great price. And to be on topic, my last one so far is the 10193 Market Village, 72€ at amazon.it Edited August 4, 2012 by Plauge Quote
SheepEater Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Until the arrival of the Orc Forge it was the only castle themed mine and in my opinion is a vastly superior model to the LOTR set. The Orc Forge is not really a 'mine'. Wait until the Orthanc set comes out and I guarantee people are gonna be hoarding Orc Forges to build a complete Isengard Quote
Brinstar Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 The Orc Forge is not really a 'mine'. My mistake. Having read the official Lego shop description I can see that now. I'm not a particular fan of LOTR so please excuse my ignorance on this issue. My original point remains valid, the Dwarf Mine rocks! Quote
Hive Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 The Orc Forge is not really a 'mine'. It's close enough, and I'm sure it could be merged with the Dwarf's Mine if you have a little imagination. Quote
Haltiamieli Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 A few days ago I made my first Lego LotR purchase and bought Gandalf Arrives. Considering how hyped I'm about this series it's a bit funny that the minifigs didn't stay together for more than a few minutes, then Frodo donated his hair to a townswoman and Gandalf gave his beard to a townsman and his torso and legs to make a monk for my town. It's nice to know that we'll get a similar Gandalf in Bag End set, so using this one for my own designs I know I'm still going to get one to keep together as Gandalf. Yesterday I came to visit my old hometown to attend to a friends' wedding and waiting for the ceremony to start I visited a general store I remembered to have had a few Lego in the past. Well, they had resumed their shelf space for toys but still had a few things... like a rather full box of Series 4 minifigs and a box with four Series 3 figs. Hadn't seen these in a while! As I suspected, the four bags seemed to include the usual suspects: sumo wrestler, race car driver, indian chief... and elf. Wait, what? Seriously? Back when Series 3 was widely available I got bored of collecting elves when I had got four, but considering how much they command in the aftermarket I just couldn't pass a sealed bag for 2 euros. harton Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Simply bought the new Big Ben's in Lego Architecture, to add to my ccollection, but as I know myself I will take the pieces apart to use them in Moc's. Quote
HawkLord Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 LOTR Mines of Moria from the Lego store. I had meant to buy Helm's Deep, but the more I look at the set, the less I feel inclined to buy it. Which breaks my completist strategy for the LOTR sets, but that's ok. Quote

Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Ouch, they got me too. Ordered Helm's Deep yesterday. I am afraid that i just stumbled into the nex line to collect. My portemonnaie already aches... Quote
Pastajensen Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I bought it at the Maximarkt in Anif, near Salzburg. I bought Helms Deep a few days ago. It's a really great set :) Ah, thanks that´s good to know if I ever in the area (mostly in winter time though ). Just bought the Uruk-hai army (€ 33,24) a wizard, 2 x Court Jester(€ 2,40 each) and the Knight and castle building set(€ 6,24). Quote
Balrog Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Just got Helm's Deep and Mines of Moria yesterday via Amazon. The Moria set is already built. HD must wait until next week I guess. Quote
Kerntechniker Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I just shot 4 times 9471 LoR Uruk-Kai Army for a low price. Quote
Stiel Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I just shot 4 times 9471 LoR Uruk-Kai Army for a low price. I was going to write the same. I also bought 4 for a low price, plus one I got from my brother for my birthday. That's a good start. Next up is Helm's Deep, Orc Forge and one more Uruk-hai Army. Quote
AmperZand Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 - Gandalf arrives x2 - Shelob attacks - Uruk-Hai army - Mines of Moria I haven't opened them yet though as I'm still settling into my flat. My Lego space won't be ready until some time next month (at the latest, I hope). I also got the Ninjago Bytar minifig, Monster Fighters werewolf and an extra Moria orc from a BrickLink seller. Quote
Nuju Metru Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 All of the LOTR sets bought at once... Unless you'd count the display cases I purchased for them to be an acquisition, too, that happened subsequently. Quote
SheepEater Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 All of the LOTR sets bought at once... Did you also get Frodo's Cooking Corner? Quote
Nuju Metru Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Did you also get Frodo's Cooking Corner? Alas, no. I went and splurged online before that particular polybag was available... but I fully intend to go and snatch one up soon. Quote
HawkLord Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Found gobs of the Frodo polybag at TRU today. They had them wedged in the same side-aisle wing that the CMF are usually in. Quote
Captain Settle Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Ordered MMV for my birthday. I didn't know they still sold it at Shop@Home, but when I found they did, it meant I got money off with my VIP Card. My birthday is in October though, so I can't look at other set's so I won't find myself wanting them. Quote
Wardancer Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 This might be interesting for some. I found a guy on Ebay.de who sells LOTR stuff relatively cheap. He sells 1 Rohan shield and 1 spear elaborate together for 1,19. I bought 10 of these packs. He also sells 1 gladius, 1 longsword and 1 sting together for 1 Euro, but I had to restrain myself. Quote
Petturik Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 This is quite a lucky find, but i bought the following sets for just 100 euro in total :) 7021 7029 7036 7038 7041 7048 7091 7092 7093 7094 and a bunch of exoforce aswell but that's not castle related Quote

Petturik Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Nicely done! Used, but good condition? Used but in perfect condition, seeing the kid hardly played with it and it was stored in closed boxes on the attic most of the time. Quote
