Christian Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 According to me there's a train from Windsor to Heathrow. Do you have a link for that? I've looked almost everywhere and I can't seem to find any direct trains.
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 22, 2011 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 22, 2011 Do you have a link for that? I've looked almost everywhere and I can't seem to find any direct trains. I think Pally or Captain Green Hair have more details on that. They are working out a detailed planning for our London visit including the train info. If they don't stop by here soon I'll get in touch with them to check. We need to sync up anyway this week for the final arrangements.
art_apples Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Hi, I live in Staines which is right next to Heathrow airport & Windsor... I work at Heathrow and know Windsor quite well, so if anyone needs any travel or other tips just pm me and I can help. There is no direct train from Heathrow to Windsor... Heathrow only has the Piccadily underground line which starts at Heathrow and goes eastwards towards London, & the Heathrow Express which also goes eastwards into London (fast to Paddington). (Windsor is to the west of Heathrow). Travelling from Heathrow there are basically 3 starting points... (Terminal 1,2,3 are all grouped together and you use the Heathrow Central Bus Station for these 3 Terminals) or (Terminal 4) and (Terminal 5) which are both stand alone terminals... so it all depends on which terminal you arrive at to determine the best option to get to Windsor. The best ways from Heathrow to Windsor would either be by bus... 77 or 71 buses from Terminal 5 goes direct from Heathrow to Windsor. or you can catch a bus from Heathrow to Feltham train station (and then take the train from Feltham to Windsor & Eton train station). 285 bus from Heathrow Central Bus Station (which is for Terminal 1,2,3) goes to Feltham. 490 bus from either Terminal 4 or Terminal 5 goes to Feltham. or you can catch a bus from Heathrow to Staines (441 bus from Heathrow Central Bus Station - Terminals 1,2,3) and catch the train from Staines direct to Windsor. If anyone wants to pm me for my mobile number I am more than happy to do that, so on arrival in the UK I can help out if needed. I'll try to join everyone on Fri or Sat too.... look forward to meeting other board members...
Peppermint_M Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Well chaps and ladies, I shall be arriving at 11:43am at Sunningdale station, but a mile or so from the hotel. Will anyone else be arriving at this station within half an hour of me? If so, we can pool for a taxi or strike out on the buses. I expect to arrive at the hotel by 12 (or less, I am unsure if the station will have a taxi rank or if I'll need to phone for one) and then meet a few people before we head to the city? Anyone else expecting to be at the hotel at that time, traveling there on my lonesome is fine, but I would like to have a little company for the rest of the proceedings. Not knowing the area is much more fun in groups!

KimT Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 You guys and girls better show up in Billund next year. I am so sad I wont be seeing you this year, so show up or your EB accounts will get messed up!
Holodoc Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I am so sad I wont be seeing you this year... Guess who will be missing you too... Hopefully our photos will keep some of your sadness away. Do we have a date for next year?
Miss Kyle Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 We're currently thinking about staying over on Friday, as we'll be in Legoland with the rest of you guys on Saturday. But we'll sort it out ourselves. Would be nice not to worry about drinking :D
Holodoc Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Oookie, now having broken my metatarsal playing frisbee on Friday, I might not be able to make it - getting around the park (and not going to be able to go on the rides) would be a bit rough. That said, I'm getting the proper cast on Wednesday, so who knows, my mobility might be better! What is your metatarsal doing? Hopefully all went good so far... Cast ON!
SlyOwl Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 What is your metatarsal doing? Hopefully all went good so far... Cast ON! Well... the fracture clinician guy made a bit of a mess of it, announced it wasn't broken, but it most definitely is, so now I don't have a cast, but have this wedge shoe thing instead (which I really don't like!) - but having gone back to hospital, they said that it is broken, but the shoe thing will suffice - so no cast, but about the same mobility! That said, I can move around a fair bit - and should be able to manage Legoland providing we're not walking around all day (stopping and starting is fine). Moreover, I did have a possible engagement on the saturday - but that's clear now. The big decision: do I come on Friday, Saturday, or possibly both?

We'll "borrow" one of the LEGO Driving School cars for you to pootle around in all day!

Quarryman Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Both! We'll "borrow" one of the LEGO Driving School cars for you to pootle around in all day! That sounds suspiciously much like some incidents at LEGO World Norway 2008.
Pandora Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 That sounds suspiciously much like some incidents at LEGO World Norway 2008. They're hilarious! SlyOwl, your chariot awaits!
SlyOwl Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 In lieu of recent revelations about possible transportation around the park ( ), I will be attending both days I'm staying the in the same hotel as you guys Friday-Saturday. I'm getting a coach in from London on Friday morning, getting in at 8.20 to Legoland, so I'll meet you there. And likewise, I'm getting a coach back from Legoland on Saturday evening. What's the plan for getting between the hotel and Legoland (and vice versa)? And is there anything we need to bring (I seem to recall something to do with pull back racers one year?)?
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 28, 2011 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 28, 2011 I'm getting a coach in from London on Friday morning, getting in at 8.20 to Legoland, so I'll meet you there. On Friday we'll not go to the LEGO offices, Copmike has been the one arranging that, so I'm not sure of the exact address. It might be close to the park or not, let's see what Copmike says. In any case you have my number so you can get in touch.
-JD- Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 It saddens me to say I won't be able to attend. There is simply too much going on at home and at school. I hope you all have a fun time! I might see you another year.
