Duq Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Or, if your pessimistic, TLG have ultimately decided that the three-car train rule is in effect. I.E TLG picture the tender car of the EN to be a complete train car in itself, and not part of the engine like most steam fans, thus EN is a three-car train. The fact that this set has it's engine entirely contained within one 'carriage' could mean TLG coincidentally 'frees' up a car slot for an actual freight car this time around, if you catch my drift. With all due respect, that's a load of bollocks. 4565 Freight train: Engine + 3 cars. 4511 High speed train: 2 cars. 4512 Cargo train: Engine + 3 cars. 7897 Passenger train: 3 cars. 7898 Cargo train Deluxe: Engine + 4 cars. 7938 Passenger train: 3 cars. 7939 Cargo train: Engine + 3 cars. 10173 Holiday train: Engine + tender + 4 cars. The only 3 car sets here (2 out of 8 sets) are passenger trains. Now where does your three-car-rule come from? As for the Emerald Night having a single car, I know what that decision was based on but I was under NDA when I was told but I can tell you it's nothing to do with a rule for the number of units in a train set... BrickStorm Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 DW Duq, no offense taken. While I'm not citing any rule TLG have consistently taken (I'm well aware that most lego train sets have had wildly varying car counts), I was just hypothesising that it may have been in this case as well as the emerald night; i.e., both "afol exclusive trains" might possibly be built with this in mind, not so much the train line in general. Other companies have sold toy trains under this kind of 'car consist' and especially with steam trains, it makes everything look very odd. In any case I probably bought more EN sets purely because it only had one car, so one could argue that one passenger car in the EN set was a very shrewd decision on TLG part as well... argh the wild speculation is doing my head in! In any case, I haven't been disappointed with the EN, and with this new exclusive it looks like I won't be either (that is if it does happen to be a public release and not some company exclusive) So does this NDA still prevent you from talking about it, even with the EN set having been released for so long? roamingstop Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Worth visting the link above. It looks like white stickers under the windows... (you can find them on the sticker sheet on the link above) The containers are formed from lots of these And their trucks will be more than 7 wide - a right angle bracket and plate to hold the containers in place. Can't wait for the set to get out...... Quote
roamingstop Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 According to a website. Lego Power Functions Kit 10219... Comes with 8884, 8879, 8878, 8887, 88002... price 149.95 Euro (pre order 139.95 euro) So the model without these is probably going to be a bit cheaper... Quote

I think it is cheaper to buy the passengertrain 7938 and take the PF stuff out....with the rest of the train you have 2 additional cars for your other 7938 set!!!! The pics of the maersk-pics come from the site: Brickshop.nl (search for 10219) Quote

legomaniac83 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Look at that piece count. One can only imagine what the price will be. I'm still drooling, however. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 It's mine. Mine I tell you. MINE!! (I seriously cannot wait for this.) Quote
peterab Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Look at that piece count. One can only imagine what the price will be. I'm still drooling, however. It's hard to guess. Modular houses tend to be pretty good price per part and have a high part count, trains tend to have a higher price per part though. I'd guess somewhere between the Emerald Night and a Modular House. Perhaps US$130 as a guess. Looks awesome. The price will determine how many I get but I know I want at least one. Seems they're only available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I guess that means only from the German warehouse. I'm pretty sure the whole of Europe is now served by a warehouse in the Czech Republic, I read about how that was one of the cost cutting measures that partially offset the rise in oil price. Quote
Snapshot Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) More Pics from a Dutch site! Okay, so PF not included. 8878 - rechargeable battery box (No stock anywhere until end of March. Could this be a hint for the release date?) 8887 - PF transformer 8884 - IR receiver 8879 - speed remote control 88002 - PF train motor inc wheels & axles (Where is this available, other than US?) Interesting that the rechargeable battery pack plus transformer are listed rather than bb464 / 88000, the non-rechargeable version. I definitely want two (or even three) of this set. Murdoch17 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) Where do you get the mini 10219 engine picture? I see some people have them, such as pinioncorp & JCC1004. I thought this website was one of the only places to get those images. Sorry if it's off topic, I just wanted to know... Edited February 3, 2011 by Murdoch17 Quote
