sok117 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Well those are all rubbish! Really lame sets... really lame. Quote
prateek Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Glove world is no good IMO, but I like the Heroic Heroes. Hopefully it will be around $15. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Terrible. Although I don't watch spongebob, I can tell these are very off. Another theme to cross of my wanted list. But that is ok, since there is a lot to buy anyway! Quote
VenVoi Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 The sets look decent, but I really wish they'd made at least one of them a little more..normal. If I bought either of them at full price, it'd be the Heroes set (assuming it's $10-15). I like Glove World, but I'll only pick it up if there's a good coupon or sale. I'll be lucky if it's $20 nowadays. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I don't need to say why. Spongebob and Partick aren't even in their Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy Costumes. Don't they have their own costumes at one point as well, which is where this set draws from? I recall them having their own costumes, and a quick Google search brings up some other Spongebob toys with Spongebob in this blue outfit. While I understand that people wanted to see the actual heroes, you also must remember that with so few Spongebob sets it makes sense to see more main characters in each. I for one am very excited about seeing a blue cape, even if it's short, and the upside is that neither of these sets will be very expensive. I can see both of Patrick's new torsos being very useful. Spongebob and Patrick always dressed up as Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy when ever they did dress up. Quote
Baylego Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I guess I won't be buying any of these sets. There is a purple cape though! Quote
Aanchir Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Everyone keeps saying Spongebob's cape is purple. Are you guys looking at a different pic than I am? Because in the pic I'm looking at, his cape and in fact entire outfit are Earth Blue (Dark Blue). I'm not impressed with these sets. But then, it's been forever since I've watched Spongebob. Still, the Glove World set in particular is a disappointment. It's a good looking set, but it's a lot smaller than what I envisioned in my head. Also, there's nothing <insert that tiresome argument> about those aircraft parts, besides possibly the upper half of the helicopter nose. I keep hearing criticisms of the helicopter pieces-- never mind that it's basically a more compatible and versatile alternative to the much-hated 8-wide plane parts-- but it's a beautiful piece and no more "<insert that tiresome argument>" than this or this. Harrypotterfreak Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Oh, god!! What did you do, Lego?!?!? These are aweful!!!!!! I thought they'd at least have a few good minifigs in 'em..... UGH!! Lego has obviously run out of ideas for Spongebob. I say, either make some sets with new figs and better designs, or don't make any at all!!!! I'm very disappointed!!!! Where's my Pearl and Larry?!?!? BTW, Spongebob and Patrick NEVER wore those costumes before.... Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Ok, if they never wore those outfits before, then why are there T-Shirts… and other merchandise… …showing these outfits? LEGO would not make up costumes never appearing the show for the characters. They may have only appeared in one episode or something, but LEGO would not just make them up. Quote
prateek Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Maybe in some Nickelodeon channel exclusive or something, because I've watched every single Spongebob episode aired in Canada. Edited February 11, 2011 by prateek Quote
Ceroknight Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) i was right about the heroes set it was a complete random guess... this is what i had in mind though: Hmmm I might pick one just because I missed the previous sets.. Edited February 11, 2011 by ceroknight Quote
Oky Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) I for one am very excited about seeing a blue cape, even if it's short, and the upside is that neither of these sets will be very expensive. I can see both of Patrick's new torsos being very useful. I don't think the cape is short, a lot of it is bent back, though that could change in the final design. And how could a torso that says "Glove World" on it be useful? LEGO would not make up costumes never appearing the show for the characters. Wouldn't they? Seriously though, I'm quite puzzled about this as well. I didn't have anything to do, so I just spent about an hour researching this, but I couldn't find anything. These costumes appeared neither in the show nor in any books, so unless it's from a comic from some Nick magazine or something, I'd say it's just an artwork Nickelodeon created for merchandise. Either way, it's quite a strange thing to base a set on, especially with much more well known Spongebob superhero designs around. On the other hand, the other designs aren't associated with any (visisble) vehicles, so it would make sense that TLC would choose this non-canon SuperSponge in order to have the creative license to create their own vehicle for him. If the last wave wasn't an indication of this them coming to an end, this one sure is. Edited February 11, 2011 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Did some digging tonight found the US prices.......14.99 and 19.99 - fair prices I guess - hate to see the prices they will be at the Target (AU) mid-year toy sale.....that what happens they always get Spongebob to themselves. ! Quote
Harrypotterfreak Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Maybe in some Nickelodeon channel exclusive or something, because I've watched every single Spongebob episode aired in Canada. Exactly! I have NO idea what these costumes are!!! I watch like every episode of Spongebob, and they've NEVER worn those stupid things! Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 And how could a torso that says "Glove World" on it be useful? It's a slobby looking t-shirt, for fleshies. People wear plenty of random t-shirts in real life, so why shouldn't minifigures? If the last wave wasn't an indication of this them coming to an end, this one sure is. I strongly disagree. I thought that the last wave signalled the end as well, but seeing that LEGO has made two new sets says to me that the Spongebob line is still limping along as it always has. There has never been a wave of this theme with more than three normal sets, I don't think. I watch like every episode of Spongebob, and they've NEVER worn those stupid things! Why are the costumes stupid just because they may have not appeared in the show? On their own merit, I think the costumes look pretty neat, and the looks of the characters certainly do fit the Spongebob and Patrick in the show. One thing that's great about this theme is the amount of different versions of the characters made. Quote
VenVoi Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 ^For those that keep insisting that LEGO made up the hero outfits. If you shuffle through the right Google Images searches, you'll find several canon images of these outfits. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 In this LEGO report about what will be at Toy Fair, the prices of these sets are listed as 14.99 and 19.99 USD. I know somebody else already reported this, but I thought it was worth sharing the source. Shame that the small one isn't in the $10 price range, but these prices are still not too bad. Quote
Aanchir Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Still not sold on these sets, but I love Spongebob's red bubble gun (actually the ray gun from the Collectible Minifigures). Also, there's a lot of that new bluish-green color from Alien Conquest here. And Spongebob's costume may be regular Bright Blue rather than Earth Blue (hard to tell). Quote
prateek Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Looks like Glove world is a good source of light blue pieces Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Looks like Glove world is a good source of light blue pieces I have to agree with you there. I think I might get Glove World for all the tan and light blue pieces, an even some brown pieces. Quote
buddy Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 I have to agree with you there. I think I might get Glove World for all the tan and light blue pieces, an even some brown pieces. I also agree, it looks like Glove World will be an excellent source of pieces, with all of the Tan, Medium Blue and Reddish Brown pieces in it. ~buddy~ Quote
SBrown Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Ill get these sets for Sandy and PLankton. No other reason really. Sad they could not have made them a bit bigger or done a bit more with them? Quote
tootsman10 Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Thinking about what Glove World looked like on that episode I would think it would be much too hard to design for normal Lego, so my guess is its duplo. Quote
