I really like this! It's got a lot of nice greebly bits, and the whole thing looks very swooshable.

Someday I will have to build one of these....

The guy is clearly very good, and uses a lot of advanced design techniques.

But overall I don't like that ship.

Excessive use of greeblies. The ones at the rear of the engines (inverted disks on the white area) is fine, but the front red areas are just kinda ugly. If it was me id replace those with stripes or colored tiles in a nice pattern.

Greeblies really aren't needed to make something that looks good, more often I think they hurt... take Soren's stuff for example, minimal if at all...

It's kinda like makup i guess, 'less is more'

aside from that, the general shape I dont like, reminds me of a naboo fighter, which natrually reminds me of SW...

The good and the bad

Good:

great shape and colors

nice greebs and snot work

very sleek

the hidden weapons, landing gear and the ladder to the cockpit are excellent

Bad:

almost no studs, I prefer a more classic look LEGO without studs doesn't seem right

the silver tubes in the front look way out of place when the rest of the greebs are all gray

the cockpit itself seems out of place

Overall a nice ship but not something I would display. It fits well with the current emphasis on studless, greeb filled, maxed snot building space MOCs I have seen over the last year. I would like to see a more classic version with less greeb/snot focus and some more studs showing. As it is now it looks more like a hasbro toy than a LEGO model.

Greeblies? I've not heard that term before. Could someone give me a definition?

Greebs, Greebles, Greeblies, etc

all refer to the random little pieces stuck on top of the actual model's structure to add details and apparent complexity to mechanical areas and stuff.

by definition they are never structural or planned in depth, just kinda tossed in there on top of the 'real' model. They're meant to kinda be anonymous techno junk; dont look at them too closely.

The hyperdrive motor on the Millenium Falcon set for example, while it is made up of lots of little detail bits, wouldn't be a greeble since it's got a planned purpose...

lately greeblies seem to be the biggest new 'fad' among space MOCs...

My thought is that while some can pull it off, lots just put them in there because everyone else is doing it, and it turns out bad looking...

oh look! your ship looks just like everyone elses now! how original!

we have a glossary here on EB...

it refers to these grey bricks that suggest all sorts of mechanical details of the "machine behind the ship"

actually, i would display this...

Hard to comment because like xenologer, I think this is another SNOT+Greeblies MOC. And it seems all the spacefan are taking this direction. So basically it's not highly original in the concept.

Now the ship itself is good looking, the shape seems good, but because of the breeblies everywhere, I don't seem to figure out were the engines are located. I love engines, and this model definitly lacks a propulsion of some sort :-(

Very nice ship!

I love the color scheme, it really makes the grey greeblies stand out more. The tubes up front don't fit in because they're silver though. I like the asymmetry on the 'main body' too. I really need to build something again.. :-P

i guess it's true what you guys are all saying: greeblies dominate modern space Mocs. somewhere along the road we may have decided that every space moc should have lots of them. Perhaps it's because we now have the parts to do this or maybe it's a reaction against the classic space stuff that didn't have any.

I think that this ship, even tho it is a SNOT-greeblie combination, has a good balance between parts and greeblies.

jipay, I think the engines are the two side - sections and i guess the front of the midsection is the air intake, if that actually exist on a spaceship... wouldn't be very usefull anyway... oh well...

I think it's a racer of some kind... and yep, kiku, the hoses have the wrong colour... he should have used the life on mars hoses

Agreed, the first thing I thought of when I saw it was "Podracer?"

But it's a nice and spiffy little ship! It's a bit big and clunky for a one-seater, but it's still a pretty nice design. The greebles look fine, but there's just something about this ship that looks off to me.

Anyway, it's still a nice ship :-)
