SpiderSpaceman Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Only if I get my Transparent Orange Chainsaw! OH LORDY YES. Needs a visor like the little captain guy too. Actually if they make it the "ice planet babe", they could do a female looking female like everybody gets so worked up over And has anyone thought about using liscensed(sp) themes for future waves? Like promoting the Tron movie by having a wave of heroes and villians that style while promoting the movie, and then next wave be something different? eh, I wouldn't really care for that. Megabloks did all the marvel heros as ball jointed robots. I dunno. We've had star wars technic characters but they were all justifiable by having insanely great mechanical functionality. Hey, come to think of it, that's probably why the recent truck truck bike truck digger lifter truck truck technic trend doesn't satisfy me. (I do love me that snow groomer.) Now if we bring it down from a whole licensed wave to one exclusive set alongside both a respectable license theme and an unrelated hero factory wave, I'm in. Quote

But in a potiential Half Life 2 line, each of the sets would have an advertisement listing the Steam site in which they could buy Half Life 2. It would be profit all around, really. We'd have the six small sets be: Gordon Alyx Barney A normal Zombie An average rebel (or to make the small sets even on both sides, An Elite Combine Soldier) A Civil Protection officer And have the 3 $12.99 sets be: Poison Zombie (3 Black Headcrabs!) Antlion 2 of the three scientists (Eli, Mossman, and Kleiner) (same size as the small sets) And the largest sets would be: A Gordon vs Breen set (along with a turrent or two) 2 or 3 or 2.5 Fast Zombies Antlion Gaurd (Maybe) Combine Strider The sets would most likely have a very close likeness to the actual characters, but done in the hero factory style. The specialized pieces would also be able to be used normally with other Hero Factory pieces without too many problems. I'm sure Valve would love having their (8 year old at the time at least) video game characters turned into a line of toys with a lot of customization. The only problem I would see is that Lego might be unwilling to agree to make such bloody/violent sets. If this series came out for real, I would literally spend every last dime on obtaining these figures, even multiples of some of the many army builders. The people would buy this would be the normal buyers, as well as gamers who would love their own Gordon Freeman figure (I personally would) What would be even better than this would be a Half Life 3 series of sets to go along with the new game. All in all, a Half Life 2 series would make me bankrupt and loving it. Aedai Rivin Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) Like Beast Wars Megatron, or Barney? Do NOT call him Barney! Frankly, I'm not very fond of the idea of an entire wave of licensed Action Figures. Single sets would be great (although I'd rather like to see something from the many Mega Man games), but an entire wave which would replace Lego's own Action Figure line would be a little bit too much. Well, they wouldn't do one every wave. At most they would do a liscensed theme every 2 years, or 1 out of 4 waves. Or even better set up a seperate line complementary line that turns liscensed themes into 3-10 sets, and that'd be the wave. The idea is that you buy both HF and these sets, to help people be more imaginative and make certain collectors cream their pants. Aedai Rivin Quote
CabooseBM Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I dunno, the last licensed constraction figure line didn't do terribly well. Quote
Aedai Rivin Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I dunno, the last licensed constraction figure line didn't do terribly well. Well, why not have Lego create a couple Star Wars HF figures, see how they sell, and go from there? Aedai Rivin Quote
Aanchir Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Well, why not have Lego create a couple Star Wars HF figures, see how they sell, and go from there? Aedai Rivin With Star Wars, that wouldn't even be possible. LEGO doesn't have a license to produce action figures of any sort for Star Wars-- I believe that license belongs to Mattel. That's the entire reason we had that fiasco about magnet packs now being glued-- they were getting too close to being individual figure packs for Mattel's taste. LEGO could of course try that with a different license, and in fact they just did last year-- the Ben 10: Alien Force theme. That's the theme Caboose is talking about that didn't do too well. I don't know when (if ever) LEGO will try going that route again, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon. Quote
The Crazy One Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 (edited) I would like something like Harlequin Heros. Yeah I know, I'm strange but some cool colours etc. and assassin like weapons would be nice. Like a modern Venice style area in the carnival. Edited February 5, 2011 by The crazy one Quote

Aanchir Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Hasbro makes Star Wars figures, not Mattel. My mistake, but I made a point of expressing unsureness: LEGO doesn't have a license to produce action figures of any sort for Star Wars-- I believe that license belongs to Mattel. And in any event, the result is the same: LEGO can't sell Star Wars articulated figures. That includes minifigures not intended to supplement the building toy, as well as buildable action figures like Hero Factory. Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 That's also a reason why I'm kinda angry on Hasbro. Anyway, even if Lego decides to make a licensed Action Figure-line, it would be probably a license which would also suit for a younger audience. Half Life and especially Dead Space aren't the best basis for a toy that should appeal Lego-Fans of all ages (and although I'm an AFOL, I wouldn't be fond off said themes either). More important, Licensed sets cost much more than normal sets, and I'm quite sure that's also one of the reasons why Ben 10 didn't sold so well. They had less pieces then the last Bionicle sets (or the HF sets, for that matter), but due to the license, they cost much more. I also only got Big Chill due to a nice price cut (since the Ben 10 sets do feature a few nice pieces, especially the limbs and the torso are interesting, although I hadn't MOCed with them yet). And last but not least: Shouldn't we move that thread back on-topic? Quote
VonNebula Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 -Armored Armadillo! If they did that we know very well LEGO would call it Armordillo. Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 If they did that we know very well LEGO would call it Armordillo. And that sounds quite good actually. Quote
Barrage Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 And that sounds quite good actually. Yeah, but it's one letter away from Ben 10s ArmorDrillo. Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Yeah, but it's one letter away from Ben 10s ArmorDrillo. One letter is enough that Lego could make an original HF villain with that name. Armordillo would also work quite well as a desert-themed villain... Quote
CabooseBM Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) One letter is enough that Lego could make an original HF villain with that name. No, it's not. If companies could do that, Mattel could make an "Optimus Prim" blue and red truck transforming robot and get away with it. Consider that "Airachnid" a name Hasbro tried to Trademark, was too similar to another company's "Arachnoid", and thus "Airachnid" was turned down at the patent office. All that aside, an Armadillo villain would be pretty cool. Edited February 9, 2011 by CabooseBM Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Ah, didn't knew that... But on the other hand, how high are the chances that the Bosses from the first Mega Man X are actually trademarks? Quote

I was referring to "Armordillo" to "Armordrillo", a Ben10 character in a very alive TV series and toyline, I didn't know there was a Megaman X villain along those lines. ZORK64 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Armored Armadillo was one of the 8 Maverick Bosses from the very first Mega Man X. I put him in the list as a joke (since after him, I commented that I probably played too much Mega Man X-Games in the past few days). Quote

bionicle factory Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) Maybe space, with the canisters as the hero's spaceships? Maybe even return of Von Nebula? Or the heros could get sucked in to Von Nebula's staff and become mutated or something, but not Barraiki style. Or an alternative universe and make the heros as the villian, and the villians as good guys? Fire Lord teaming up with Von Nebula and Witch Doctor? Edited March 31, 2011 by bionicle factory Quote
averick Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I'd say a Time Travel theme would be cool, you know, could have dinosaurs, a steampunk robot-armor, high-technology villains... All within the 6 villain pack... And of course a "Chronos" for the big bad villain would be nice... We could have an Ice-Age Stormer, a Medieval Furno, an egyptian Evo... And so forth... hehe greek/spartan ferno cus hes red lol a medieval bluk, samurai/ninja stringer. it would be cool if breez has like a plane thats like world war 2 era or even better a steampunk fighter jet. Every hero gets traped in the past alone and they have to defeat there villain. a time wielding villein, has so many possibility's this is a great theme idea. Quote
