VBBN Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Looks good, though the shoulders are still crap. Quote
Jouster Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Rocka XL leg design!Yes! If you look at the preliminary images, you can see that Rocka has this leg design. Anyway, good job. It actually works! Quote
Zarkan Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) I'm sorry Front, but as much as I want to like it, all this does for me is confirm that Fire Lord's suckage is unfixable. I doubt any person over the age of 10 is going to be keeping him together for long, as he just doesn't deserve display shelf space. Edited February 2, 2011 by Zarkan Quote
Front Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 The leg design was adjusted today after work, and has no resemblance with future sets. Firelord is not angry at the fans. He's disappointed. Quote

I'll show y'all how to fix the thighs when I get Fire Lord and Drilldozer. Because that's all I need. Quote
Bundalings Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Chibi Firelord is something I can get on board with. That's how the set should have been. Of course, then we wouldn't have the GLORIOUS PARTS PACK that is Firelord... Quote

Of course, then we wouldn't have the GLORIOUS PARTS PACK that is Firelord... ...And besides, if LEGO doesn't get a little "practice time" with larger sets in the new building-style, we'll likely never see a titan-sized figure with the new building system! I personally don't mind Fire Lord's thighs too much (they're ugly, but they don't ruin the set for me). Still, I'd love to see a more streamlined solution. Maybe a future set will cook up something better... preferably something that's not too dependent on Technic connections, because I'd like to see as much creativity with the new system as possible. Those are off of drilldozer, right? Hey can you make them slip lots of 53585's into future sets? Not that it matters to me, I bought about 40 on bricklink a few months back. By the way, do LEGO employees have to feign ignorance about bricklink? "What are your feelings about the bricklink resellers market?" "Oh, I've never heard of that." Damn you, Bricklink. Quote

Yes drilldozer got these feet in black, as does Bionicle Stars set Skrall 7136. Hey can you make them slip lots of 53585's into future sets? By the way, do LEGO employees have to feign ignorance about bricklink? "What are your feelings about the bricklink resellers market?" "Oh, I've never heard of that." Damn you, Bricklink. I am not allowed to sell LEGO I buy as an employee in our store in Billund. But apart from that there are no restriction to what I can use BL for. I often use BL to find parts, even at work. It's the best tool for me. But I'm not registred on BL. Erland Edited February 3, 2011 by Front Quote

Front Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 x1669 on BL. I pulled the part # 53585 out of LDD. Yes, parts with no design number on them are often given a strange number in BL. Skopio got 12, while Toa Mata Nui got 10 of these balls with through-hole. To be honest I have no control over the set designers. I constantly tell them to use new colours, or other stuff, but they shake their heads at me. You will though see a set in the future, with a lot of 53585. A hell of a lot. Quote
Aanchir Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Here is a Technic version of Firelord thigh-beef-up, including some Bionicle-Stars feet. I like this method a lot more. Despite using Technic, it ends up more streamlined than the HF armor and does its job a lot better. I take it this doesn't impede poseability at all? Quote

I am ecstatic as hell about this hell of a lot. I should have bought Toa Mata Nui after I missed Toa Ignika. And that situation with your suggestions being shot down sounds unimaginably irritating. I take it this doesn't impede poseability at all? No, but the arced 3x3 half-width technic beam, meant that the decorated shell had to be turned up-side-down, and now it slightly overlaps the shell on the lower leg. But these double-legs can twist etc. slightly, allowing room for shells that overlap. Quote
